Fallen Angels

We all marched on the camp. They were prepared for us. They sent the imps our first. Before anyone had a chance to attack them they dropped dead. I looked for the source and saw Orion glowing with energy. She just shrugged at me and we marched on. They were little so it was easier to take their life force.

The next ones to come were the demons. Some of them were equipped with weapons; others were just using their claws and teeth. They were mindless beasts. However they had us in size. They were huge brutes and bread specifically for war. They started attacking and the front line started hacking through them. A few slipped through us but were cut down before they could reach our last line.

It all started off good. We had slain nearly 50 of their lesser demons and there were only about 25 of us. We were outnumbered, but we had strength and brains on our side. That was until Lucifer’s Fallen attacked.

We had figured only a few Fallen were in the camp. We had guessed wrong. Mike had reported seeing only a few so either more came in or they had been hiding in hopes to catch us off guard which is what they did. They had about 20 Fallen in all.

Many I had never seen before, some I had passed in Heaven. However they all had Lucifer’s mark, which meant they belonged to the wrong side. My group charged and was met by the Fallen. Even though they were lesser in number they somehow had the upper hand. I watched as some of my fellow brethren fell and I couldn’t do anything but continue to fight.
I looked over and saw Vic and Orion fighting back to back, both of them were having trouble keeping the demons and Fallen. Orion couldn’t do anything except fight with the knife she was given because all of the Fallen had something covering their eyes. Jesse was covering Ashely as he fought a Fallen one on one. CC was trying to fight off a Fallen that was sneaking up on Carla as she fought a demon in close combat. Seripha and Jinxx were back to back and trying to fight off the multiple Fallen and demons that surrounded them. Jake was hacking in the direction that Ellie told him to and almost every time he hit a Fallen before they were even there. Jack and Alex were slashing and hacking their way through the demons until they were surrounded by 3 Fallen. Alex stuck his shield in the ground and him and Jack charged.

I felt pain in our connection and immediately looked for Alese. She was being held by her throat in the air by Juliet. I jumped up and spread my wings taking off after my wife. I tackled Juliet in the air and caught her off guard. She let go of Alese who dropped to the ground and got her sword she had dropped.

Since I had hit Juliet from behind she had no control over her wings. She hit the ground with me still on top of her. She tried to fight but I grabbed her wings and twisted. I was about to break them when I heard Alese scream my name. I moved out of the way just in time. A Fallen was about to attack me from behind.

I swung my sword at him and he blocked it but he wasn’t expecting the second one to go through his stomach, or Alese to be buried in his wings. He hit the ground. I turned to look for Juliet but she was gone.

“Damn it!” I cried out in frustration. I looked around we had lost many of our guards and we were outnumbered and injured. “Mike signal for a retreat! Back to the sanctuary.” I have no idea where he was or how he heard me, but I heard the horn being sounded and our guys taking to the air in retreat.

A few of the Fallen tried to follow but for some reason quickly took off the other way, like they were given orders not to follow. We gathered the injured and headed back. We crossed into the barrier and were greeted by the rest of the guards and multiple humans helping get the injured to the infirmary.

“What happed?” Maya asked running up to me. “Last thing Mike said was that you had just taken down a bunch of demons and had the upper hand.”

“That’s what we thought. They tricked us. There were other Fallen waiting for us and they were prepared. They caught us off guard. Do a count we had our group plus 10 extra guards. Report back to me at my house. Any unharmed in my group are to report back to me at my house.” Maya nodded and ran off.

Alese and I took off to our house. As soon as we got there I looked her up and down. She had a few scratches and her throat was starting to bruise from where Juliet had choked her, but other than that she seemed unharmed.

I pulled her into my arms, “Are you okay baby?” I asked concerned. She nodded into my chest, “Just a bit shaken up buy I’m fine.”
“I can’t believe they surprised us like that!”

Just then there was knock on the door and Vic and Orion came in followed by Seripha and Jinxx. Jinxx looked a little scratched up but not that bad. Jake and Ellie were next; Jake had a limp and was using Ellie for support. Ashely and Jesse came next. They were fighting because it seemed like Ashely had a gash in his side and Jesse had one on her leg and they were arguing over whose was worse and which one of them needed to go to the infirmary. Carla was next but there was no CC with her. Jack and Alex came in using each other for support. They seemed bruised and battered but not too badly injured. Mike and Maya were the last to show up. Mike had a cut on his face but seemed fine.

I looked to Carla, “Where is CC?”
She sobbed, “He took a sword to his shoulder and it pierced his wing trying to protect me.” Alese pulled her into a hug as she sobbed.

I sighed. “Okay the rest of you if you have any form of cut, gash, slice, anything like that go to the infirmary and get it taken care of now. We will regroup after everyone is patched up. I can’t have you bleeding all over my house.”

They nodded and headed out. Leaving Alese, Carla, Mike, and Maya.

“Andy I am so sorry. I had no idea.” Mike told me looking distraught.
“It’s okay. It was meant to be like this. They wanted a surprise attack and they got it. We just have to regroup and rethink our plan. Now go get your cheek looked at. We need everyone in top condition. It is only going to get worse from here.”

He nodded and set out with Maya. I looked at Alese who was comforting Carla.

“I’m going to check on everyone. Please stay here and help her calm down.” Alese just nodded as I took off out the door.

So they didnt win the battle. They lost the first war o.o how is this going to effect everyone?
