I Need You
Found Her. Now What?
When I finally got to house number 4600, I stopped to take a look. The house was huge; white with blue shutters. It was definitely a cookie-cutter house. But Kiara wasn’t someone who would want to live in this cookie-cutter neighborhood. Or so, that’s what it seemed like.
I walked up to the large house and hesitated on knocking. Should I even be here? I questioned myself. When I got up enough courage to actually knock on the door, I was very quiet at first. Then, feeling stupid that I was quiet, I knocked three times, louder than before and I listened closely for footsteps. It was silent. I waited for what seemed like a century, but was only like a minute and then I started to walk away. When I got about halfway down the driveway, I heard the door open. I spun around and standing in the doorway was an older looking woman, and she looked at me skeptically.
“Who are you?” she asked weary.
I walked up to her. “My name is Andy, and I was wondering if Kiara lives here” I explained.
“What do you want with Kiara?” she asked.
“I just need to see her. We met a couple years ago, and I think I’m in love with her. I need her to know that. Can I please just have a few minutes to talk with her? And then I will be out of your house, I’m sorry for barging in like this” I said apologetically.
She gasped and brought her hand to her mouth, she looked shocked or maybe even frightened. I shouldn’t have come…
“You’re in love with my daughter. You’re the one” she still gasped.
“Yes ma’am” I stated.
“Please, come inside” she gestured with her hand for me to come in.
“Thank you” I smiled.
I walked into the house, and smiled to myself. It felt like I was at my own home back in LA. The feeling I got while walking into their house was weird, but also very comforting. I suddenly felt at ease.
“Kiara!” her mom yelled for her. “Someone special is here to see you” she smiled at me as she said this.
“I’m nervous” I expressed to her.
“Don’t be, sweetie. She’s talked about you a lot within the past couple years” she confessed.
Suddenly, I became less nervous and more excited to see Kiara and just hold her. I needed that more than anything right now. And right then, I heard footsteps coming down the staircase.
“Who is it? Mom, I’m really not in the mood to see anyone right now” I heard her say.
“Not even me?” I questioned loudly.
I heard Kiara’s footsteps quickly accelerate and then I saw her face come around the corner. Her expression looked happy, then sad.
“Andy…” she whispered sadly as she got closer. “I’m sorry I ran off, I…” she trailed.
“Shh, I can understand before you say anything. You were scared, weren’t you?” I comforted her.
She fiddled with her fingers and hung her head. “Y…yeah. Andy, I…” she stuttered.
