For the love of my father

I listen in the studio as Andy sings . He was amazing . This was a side project he was working on called Andy Black and I was so excited to hear all the albums worth of songs he had written for this project. The song he is working on is called 'They don't need to understand' and the lyrics are so moving .

He comes out of the recording booth and gets to business editing and listening to play backs . Its inspiring hearing his music.

"Im going to get some coffee or something .. " I tell Andy not wanting to bug him he smiles and nods and I leave the room.

I walk to a starbucks on the corner and buy me and Andy coffee . The barista winks at me as I get my drink and leave quickly . When I get back into the studio the recording light is on in Andy's recording room so I explore a little. Walking through the halls bumping into famous artist I find an empty room with a piano. I set the coffees down on a chair and sit at the piano.



I run my hands over the keys and think of what I want to play .I play a few notes and then lyrics start coming out of my mouth before I know it.

I close eyes as I hit the last note and smile at the song I created.


"That was terrific !" a voice says out of no were causing me to jump .


A man walks out of the studio room clapping and I blush in nervousness Andy follows the man who I now recognize as peter the man who was helping Andy earlier. I grab the coffees and hand Andy his.


"I didnt know you could play the piano baby doll " He says as I avoid eye contact .


" Its not something I share" I tell them .


"Well it was amazing and Peter got to record it just in time " Andy says holding up a CD


I try to grab the CD from him but he holds it up heigh out of my reach .


" I need you to play the piano and sing with me in one of my songs and I wont take no for an answer" He says leading me out of the recording room and to the car.


I nod my head and get in the car . Andy grabs my hand as he drives and runs his thumb over my fingers gently . I relax at his touch and sing along to the music coming from the radio.


Andy's phone rings and he lets go of my hand to answer it .


"Hello, Yes this is Andy ." He says


"Mmhmm"


"What the fuck! How ?! No thats not alright ! I want a restraining order Henry and now !" He screams at the person at the end of the line and hangs up. His grip on the stirring wheel tightens.


"Whats wrong Andy ..." I ask


His jaw tightens before he answers and looks at me.


" Maxon was arrested last night"


"So thats a good thing " I remind him .


"No Kait you dont understand.... He got released already to his parents....."
