Sink Your Teeth Into Forever

Chapter 33

Sandra's POV
Ashley made his way through the crowd of researchers, many of whom were still scribbling on their notepads, taking in every little detail about him. Some politely stepped out of his way, while others he had to push past. I had no idea how he planned on getting in contact with the rest of his pack. We had no idea what time zone we were in, the other guys could still be in broad daylight. I followed behind Ash, at a distance I considered to be safe. He walked around our beach house and done some rocks. He was very agile for his size. I had to carefully climb down behind him while he leaped with ease. He landed on the sand and wandered down the beach. I wondered where he was going, I could imagine that sand did not feel very good in his fur. Finally he came to a place on the beach that seemed to satisfy what ever criteria he'd set for it.
He sat on rock near the end of the beach. The water from the incoming tide washed around the rock creating a foam around his paws. For a second I thought that he was going to try to jump in and swim for home. I stayed back a ways, not sure what he was doing. His focus was suddenly directed straight up to the moon. Straight out over the sea. His brown eyes locked with it, deep in concentration. It was a beautiful scene that I wished I could have taken a picture of. The moonlight accented the color of his fur just right. Now you could see that he wasn't pure black, there where traces of dark brown scattered about his coat. His eyes closed and he sighed, nose tilted to the sky. I wondered how he was able to contact the rest of the pack mentally. I'm sure that the researchers would have some sort of brain machine that could figure out how they did it. I realized that a few people had come up behind me. One of them tried to get closer, but I stuck an arm out and pushed him back. Couldn't the idiot see that Ashley was doing something important?
After what seemed to be a very long time Ash opened his eyes and looked around. He made eye contact with me and hopped off the stone in my direction.
“Did it work?” I asked him, he huffed and, I guess you could say that he shrugged his shoulders. He didn't even know if he'd made contact with them. He walked past me and I followed next to him, a hand in his fur. I noticed that his paws were dragging, must be tired. We made our way back through the now silent scientists and into the house. Ash was still limping and as soon as we got in the door he crawled up onto the couch and watched me come in. I left him in the living room and went to go to bed when I heard him whine. I turned and he was sat up on the couch looking at me.
“What? Do you want me to stay with you?” I asked, his tail thumped on the couch. I smiled. In the old days when we were in Black Veil Brides together I used to him about how I'd always wanted a big dog to cuddle with. It looked like he remembered. I settle down on the couch next to him and he put a big paw over my shoulder. Within a few seconds he was letting out little doggy snores. I was the opposite of him though, I couldn't sleep. I was wondering about the rest of BVB. What if the guys from this island who wanted to help came to them and got hurt? All I could do was pray that Ash had made contact with the boys. Eventually those thoughts died downed and I slipped into a dreamless sleep.
Andy's POV
The girls were all sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows and talking about whatever it is that girls talk about. I was laying on my stomach by the fire as well, feeling much better than I had been earlier. I had a mental connection with the rest of the pack in the woods, the hunt was going well for them, and they'd be back soon. Bringing a big hunk of meat back for me and my mouth watered.
“Hey Andy,” I heard Ella say I looked up at her, just in time to see an anomalous white object flying in my direction. The soft, warm scent of sugar, hit my nose and then I snatched the marshmallow out of the air. It had been roasted just a bit so that the inside was melted and the outside was crunchy. My dog heart sped up when the sugar hit my blood stream. Some of the goo stuck to my teeth and the roof of my mouth and I couldn't get it off. I guess I made some funny faces trying to get it because they started laughing at me. What can I say? Dogs' mouths aren't built to chew sticky things. I struggled with it for about another five minutes before I was finally satisfied that I'd gotten it all. Suddenly I got a strange feeling. It was nagging at me like there was something important that someone was trying to tell me. I sat up off the ground and sniffed the air, I didn't smell anything but my friends. I listened closely and didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, but the feeling was still there. It was like a ghost that needed my help. Was this campsite haunted?
I didn't think that it was that, this presence seemed alive, just not in this space with us. I payed more attention to it, blocking everything else out. Suddenly I got the sense of other things about it. Music, animals, girls, leather, black, friend, laughing, crying, fighting, hugging, the shock hit me, it was Ashley. He was alive and trying to tell me something. I stood up and move away from the fire, ignoring the girls calling after me. I got into the moonlight and the connection from him seemed to get stronger. I saw in my minds eye a few things that really confused me. I saw Sandra, an island, men in suits, like the ones who had shot at me and Ivy, then I saw an image of Ivy. All of these things seemed to have a good feeling about them, like they weren't a danger. Then a bad feeling crept over me and in my minds eye I saw a man, also in a suit, he had a thin face, a square jaw and high cheekbones. He glared at me and the sense of danger grew as he pulled a gun from his jacket and pointed it at me. Just as he pulled the trigger the vision faded. I was thrust back into the real world, trembling.
“Andy? You okay?” Juliette said, all the girls were staring at me, I turned around and wandered back over to them. Making a circle around our little campsite first, checking quickly for any signs of the bad man in the suit. I found none so I made my way back to the fire and sat down next to Juliette. This time I was facing outward, just to be safe. A few moments later I heard the sound of footsteps approaching the camp. I wagged my tale as CC and Jake came into view dragging a large part of a fresh kill behind them. Jinxx came along behind them trying to pick up the end so that it didn't drag along in the dirt. They placed it in front of me, and I began to eat. While I was eating I explained to the boys what I'd just seen.
"So there is only one man in a suit that's bad?" CC said.
"I'm not really sure but I get the feeling that some of the men in suits are on our side," I replied. They all grunted with a simple understanding of what I was trying to say. I finished eating and thanked them for bringing me food. I was about to ask if it was a good idea to have someone stay out and keep watch all night when suddenly a human smell hit me. It was a young male. It was not one of the people who owned these camp sites, and we knew that there was no one else staying here tonight. All of us straightened up as the footsteps became audible. It was someone walking quickly in our direction. They were very anxious for some reason. Suddenly a man in a suit came walking into our campsite. He stopped for a moment, shocked, clearly not expecting to see all of us waiting for him.
I didn't give him a chance to do anything. I pounced and in a second I was on him. I knocked him down onto his back, two of my paws went on his chest holding him down. His anxiety sky rocketed into fear of his life. I stood over him snarling. I could here the rest of the pack circling around us growling as well, the girls backed away in fear.
“P-p-please don't kill me. My name is John, and I'm on your side. I want to take you to Ashley,”

Notes

Hey guys, sorry if it's a bit short but it's what I had time for. Leave me a comment and let me know what you think. I really want to here some comments on how you guys think that Andy's mental state will hold up through all of this stress. Hope you liked it and I'll see you all next week when I should be able to give a nice long update as it is homecoming weekend and I'm not going. Remember If you think that no one loves you I do.
