The following morning Andy’s bad mood had sort of gone away, though he still wasn’t right but no one asked questions they just left him to it. The hotel had cooked both bands breakfast to go as they had to hit the road if they were going to make it to San Francisco in time to get set up, go through sound checks and get ready for the first show that night. Solaris was nervous, most of the people there that night would be fans of Black Veil Brides… Fall To Fate had only a small fan base, though it was growing, so she hoped that some of the BVB fans would like them. During most of the drive down to San Francisco, Solaris sat in the kitchen of the tour bus with her lyric sheets just going over the set while biting her nails, a really bad habit she had. The other three had gone back to sleep in their bunks, lazy sods. By the time they reached San Francisco, Solaris herself had fallen asleep with her head on the kitchen table, but was rudely woken by Loretta once at the venue, putting her in a really grouchy mood. “Wow someone got up on the wrong side of the bed,” Ashley laughed as they were unpacking and Christina shook her head, “Try wrong side of the kitchen table!” Everyone except Andy and Solaris laughed. “Seems like the black cloud that was hanging over Andy’s head yesterday has moved on to Solaris today,” Both of the mentioned stuck their middle fingers up at Ashley, he chuckled. “Come on guys we’ve got a lot to do!” Christina folded her arms and pouted, “Do we look like guys?” “Sorry guys, girls and Ashley…” Even Andy had to laugh at that. Once set up began, everyone began to get into a considerably good mood, and when sound checks started, that mood improved more… more so that Andy was almost back to his usual self. He, CC and Solaris were stood together talking while watching Loretta pound hell into her drums. “She’s really good,” said CC “And I love her drums and drumsticks!” Loretta famous purple drumsticks were always found in the weirdest of places back at the girls’ home. “Purple is her trademark colour as you can see by her drums and her hair,” Solaris laughed, “And her bedroom, purple walls and floor… ceiling is white though…” “I like your hair,” said Andy randomly, “its cute…” Solaris blushed and smiled, “Thanks.” “No problem!” “Hey guys and girl…” Ashley had joined them; he had his bass with him, “Everything okay?” “Great we’re just watching Loretta.” “Cool I’ve just been comparing bass’s with Christina.” “And..?” “Mine’s better but hers is cool, I’ve told her I’ll get her a custom made one for Christmas or her birthday.” “Well that’s nice of you.” Jinxx and Jake appeared with their guitars, “Hey! We gonna play a couple of songs?” Loretta had finished and disappeared backstage, “Sure!” So Andy, Ashley, Jake, Jinxx and CC made their way onto the stage and began to play one of their old songs, Knives and Pens, one of Solaris’ favourites, the song that had saved her. “With Knives and Pens we made our plight… Whoa!” Andy sang in his deep tones, she loved his voice it was so beautiful and unique. After that they played Love Isn’t Always Fair and then Nobody’s Hero off their latest album. Satisfied everything was okay, Andy and the others headed to the dressing rooms to get ready and to relax while the girls did their sound check. Solaris chose one of her personal favourites of their songs, I Don’t Care, her voice travelled through to the dressing rooms, bringing the boys out to listen, amazed by what they were hearing. “I Don’t Care what they say, I Don’t Care what they do,” Andy was stunned by her voice, “She’s amazing!” The boys quite agreed… Jake and Jinxx were both also watching Marcella, Ashley couldn’t take his eyes off Christina and CC was clapping along with the beat from Loretta’s drums, “Cause they all fade away, when it’s just me and you… When it’s more than a crush, an impossible touch, I Don’t Care what they say where you’re there, I Don’t Care!” The boys whistled and clapped, Solaris and Marcella exchanged grins, they hadn’t realised the boys had reappeared. “You girls seriously kick ass!” Ashley yelled, Solaris smiled and Christina gave him a thumb up as they started to play another of their songs, one that Ashley knew, called So What… Andy was surprised at the words, “So What if I walk and they run? So What if I want to be number one? So What if I’m talking too loud, I’m not afraid of standing out…” “These girls have got talent…” Jon had joined the boys, “What a voice that chick has got!” The boys all agreed. When the girls’ sound check was finished the two bands chilled out back stage, eating and getting to know one another, talking about favourite music… Ashley and Christina were talking clothes and shopping, they’d both decided when they were in New York they were going to go on a shopping spree together. “Which one do you think is the bigger girl?” Andy had asked Solaris, and she’d simply replied with, “Ashley because Christina has got more balls than him.” Jinxx and Jake had overheard this and had burst out laughing and didn’t stop for a good fifteen minutes. About an hour before the show their managers had come in and told them they needed to get ready. “See who takes longer to get ready,” Solaris said to Andy just before she went into her dressing room, “Ashley or Christina…” Andy had grinned and nodded. “Right now what to wear…” Eventually Solaris decided on a black and red gothic Lolita style dress with black fishnets and pair of red Doc-Martins, she straightened her short Orange hair, did some thick black eyeliner and some black stitches with a bit of war paint to show her support to BVB and finished with a pair of fingerless gloves and her nails painted black with little red splats that were meant to look like blood. Marcella had decided on a pair of black skinny jeans with rips, a pink vest top and pink Doc-Martins, her hair was straightened too and she had dark pink eye shadow with black eyeliner and also a stitch coming from her mouth and nails were painted a dark pink to go with her eyes. Loretta had gone for a pair of leather trousers with a long sleeve purple top and she also had gone for Doc-Martins only hers were purple… her hair had been curled and, like Solaris, had gone for the thick black eye make-up along with purple nails. Christina was wearing a black Lolita style skirt with a white vest top, fishnets and she completed the group with a pair of White Doc-Martins and like her sister, Christina had also curled her hair and she had white eye shadow with black eyeliner and white nails to complete it all. Andy, Ashley, Jake, Jinxx and CC were of course dressed in their usual leather get up, Christina kept trying to pinch Ashley’s hat but he wouldn’t let her. “Nervous?” Andy asked, he was stood by Solaris, she and the girls were waiting to go on stage, “You look gorgeous by the way.” “Thank you and I am a little nervous, but really excited too!” “Well good luck to you darling…” “Thanks Andy.” The stage lights suddenly dimmed and Loretta squeezed past her to get on there, the audience began chanting, “Fall To Fate! Fall To Fate!” “They’re calling for ya,” Solaris smiled as Loretta, Christina and Marcella began to play their first song, Lookin’ Good. Solaris ran out onto the stage to face the audience who were now screaming, and she began to sing, “Trouble seems to find me everywhere I go! Driving me insane and I’m about to blow… out the window…” Amazing was all Solaris could say about that night, after Lookin’ Good, they played Change The World, Nobody’s Girl, So What, All About You, Grow Up, Who I Am and then finished with a new song they’d only recently wrote called Hey (When The Angelz Play). Black Veil Brides followed 20 minutes after the girls had finished, Andy opened with Exordium, followed by I Am Bulletproof, then The Legacy, Knives and Pens, Rebel Yell, Resurrect The Sun, Fallen Angels, Coffin, Perfect Weapon, Lost It All, Rebel Love Song and then finishing with In The End. What a first night it turned out to be, and there were plenty more to come.
