Land Of F.E.A.R

Fading

Lonely among the dust and fog
Hungry for what the scriptures taught
Angry at all the love that's lost
Ready to heal our battle scars
A Holy War
This is one last Victory Call
Time waits for those who want it all
Watch their weapons fall!

“Why have you come here?!” One of the Guards called out to them and Persephone noticed that Andy had stiffened slightly. They hadn’t expected questions-just violence and so everyone was a bit thrown off.

“We are here for our freedom! It has been taken from us and we are here to fight to get it back!” Andy called out and there was a chorus of agreement that shouted out from behind Perry.

“Your freedom was taken from you a long time ago because the Chancellor did not think that this nation was fit to rule over its own freedoms! Go now before you lose anything else!” The Guard spoke out, his voice menacing but Persephone saw that Andy did not waver.

“This country had no say in what your Chancellor did! We have every right to demand our freedoms back and we will do so in any way possible! Send out your Chancellor so that I might look at him as I drive this dagger through his cold heart!” Andy shouted and Perry felt like her heart was going to beat right out of her armor covered chest.

“I’m warning you Wild One-leave now!” Andy only laughed softly, shaking his head as he looked around at his brothers. Perry couldn’t see their faces, but she knew deep down that they were all smirking.

“And I am warning you, sir-send out your Chancellor or I have no choice but to destroy all of you…” Andy said and Persephone got chills at the warning tone in his voice. The Guards only laughed and Perry wondered what was going to happen next.

“Destroy us little Wild One? Ha! I would love to see you try!” The Guards were now laughing at them and even from where she was standing, Perry could see Andy’s jaw tighten.

Perry watched as the Wild Ones all straightened up and then CC began to slowly walk forward.

What was he doing?! Was he giving himself up? Was this part of the plan? Persephone watched with horror masking her face as CC began to quickly walk towards the Guards. His walking turned in to running and then he was moving to smash his fist against the ground. Everything shook-Perry felt like her bones were going to break from the small Earthquake and as she watched CC’s fist hit the dirt a small tidal wave had been created and the Guards disappeared in a cloud of smoke. What had happened? What was going to happen? Everyone stood by silently, waiting and watching to see what was going to occur.

Everything was silent and still-Perry didn’t even hear any birds chirping or the wind blowing as it passed through her hair. No one moved-no one sad a word-until finally there was a slight bit of movement coming from the large building in front of them. The front panel of the building was rising slowly and Perry could faintly make out someone walking towards them. Their shoulders were hunched over, their black robe covered body looking frail and breakable. Who was this?

As the figure got closer, Persephone realized that she knew this person-she had nightmares of him every night ever since dream jumping for the last time. Those crooked teeth. The long hooked nose. The greasy looking black hair hidden beneath a hood-the Chancellor. He was alone, walking towards them slowly and Perry wasn’t sure what was going to happen. Would they fight? Did the Chancellor have a weapon concealed beneath that long cloak?

Finally the man came to a stop about twenty feet from the Wild Ones-CC had joined the line once again-and Andy seemed to be standing there in shocked silence. They hadn’t expected this-they had expected to fight their way in and roam the halls until finally they cornered the man responsible for taking everything from them. But no-he was standing right in front of them, unsmiling and unmoving. Perry didn’t have a good feeling about any of this-she didn’t trust the man and she could only hope that Andy moved on the side of caution when dealing with him. Andy shifted his weight from one foot to the other, ran a hand through his long black hair and then spoke out loudly.

“I see you’ve come out of hiding Chancellor!” Andy called out to the man and Perry noticed that the hooded figure did not move, not even an inch.

“We’ve been waiting for you and finally-here you are!” Andy called out again, but there was still no answer. She could see that he was growing frustrated-this was not how Andy had forseen this going. Perry knew he had expected a great battle and now…now it almost seemed like the Chancellor was surrendering.

“I am not here to make peace with you-boy.” The voice that had haunted her nightmares sounded tired. Finally the hood covered face tilted up slightly until finally Persephone could look into the black eyes of pure evil.

“Then why have you come out here?!” Andy questioned and Perry wanted to run up to him and tell him to stop. She had a bad feeling-this was not going to end well for them…something was wrong with the way this was all going.

“I have come to warn you-things are not as they seem. I have an army that could crush you, but the loss of human life is not needed. Give in and all will be…forgiven!” He called to them and Perry knew that Andy would never do that.

They had fought for so long-they had lost so many. There was no way he would just give in to someone on idle threats and a battle that may or may not happen. Perry could see that Andy was thinking it over-pondering and scheming in his own brain. What would he say? What would he do? Perry felt her heart leap in to her throat as she watched Andy wring his hands in front of him. He looked left, then right and she could see that the four men who flanked him had all given subtle nods in his direction. What did that mean? Retreat? Fight? Persephone was on pins and needles waiting for something to happen and she didn’t like that feeling. Finally Andy moved, raising his hand up into the air and giving them all the signal they had been waiting for.

The singing started lowly as Perry let her voice carry on the wind and she got chills as finally everyone else joined in. She had moved to stand beside Andy, his hand griping hers tightly as they stared down the Chancellor together. This was the man who had taken everything from her and as Persephone Jones stood there, hand in hand with the only family she had left-she knew that he would perish along with them.

This was the end for them all-this was the end of a lot of things. The end was near for F.E.A.R’s control, but something else was about to end. They all sang as a group-as a unit-and as more and more Guards appeared before her eyes, Persephone knew that this would be her end and as the sun met the mountains and began to sink below them, she smiled and continued to sing.

In the end
As you fade into the night -oh whoa oh oh
Who will tell the story of your life?

In the end
As my soul's laid to rest
What is left of my body
Or am I just a shell?
And I have fought
And with flesh and blood I commanded an army
Through it all
I have given my heart for a moment of glory

In the end
As you fade into the night -oh whoa oh oh
Who will tell the story of your life-oh whoa oh oh
And who will remember your last goodbye-oh whoa oh oh
'Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid to die.
I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid to die

Born a saint
But with every sin I still wanna be holy
I will live again
Who we are
Isn't how we live we are more than our bodies
If I fall I will rise back up and relive my glory

In the end
As you fade into the night -oh whoa oh oh
Who will tell the story of your life -oh whoa oh oh
And who will remember your last goodbye -oh whoa oh oh
'Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid to die

In the end
As you fade into the night-oh whoa oh oh
Who will tell the story of your life -oh whoa oh oh
And who will remember your last goodbye -oh whoa oh oh
'Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid to die

Who will remember this last goodbye -oh whoa oh oh
'Cause it's the end and I'm not afraid
I'm not afraid to die

Not afraid
I'm not afraid to die
No not afraid
I'm not afraid to die!

@SummerTimeDreamer

Good thought, but it won't happen. Andy lost his true love and Perry lost her's-they're just friends.
