Chapter 3

Raven's POV

It's the night of the concert and I can barely contain myself. The two week wait was torture, but I managed to survive. In less than 40 minutes I'll be standing within seeing distance of Black Veil Brides. I put on my red skinny jeans and my favorite Black Veil Brides band tee. I flat-ironed my hair and put a black and red plaid bow in the side. I put on my war paint just like Andy Biersack's and continue getting ready.

A few moments later I hear a horn beckoning to me and that's my cue. I run down the stairs, not bothering to tell my mom goodbye, and I run outside to Scarlet's car. She greets me with a hug and peels out of my driveway. In the meantime I take in her outfit and I can already feel the jealousy washing over me. Don't get me wrong, we are both average sized girls, but Scarlet usually picks up the guys first while I'm left alone.

Scarlet's outfit don's a shorter skirt than most of the cheerleader's I've seen, knee-high Chuck Taylor's in black, Ashley Purdy style makeup and a black and white BVB band tee. Her two-toned hair is crimped all the way and parted to the side like usual. I plug my iPod into her car stereo and wouldn't you know it, Andy's voice starts out clear as day as Fallen Angels plays.

Before long we are at the venue and my heart is literally pounding so hard that I can feel the blood in my ears keeping time with it. Scarlet grabs my hand and leads me to a security officer who inspects out tickets then hands a lanyard with a card on it to both me and Scarlet. My eyebrows knit together as I examine the card and the just as I flip it over, the letters V.I.P. in yellow pop out at me.

I feel my knees going weak and I can't seem to speak correctly. We will get to go backstage during the concert and do a meet-and-greet with the band afterwards. Scarlet rolls her eyes with a smile and drags me inside before I pass out. I can't even think straight and when I look up I realize we are standing backstage already. "I..we...you...Oh my God..." I stutter out. I look around, completely dumbfounded at my surroundings.

Scarlet grabs me by the shoulders and tells me to calm down for a minute because it's only going to get better. Just as she finishes talking to me we hear voices coming our way. Both of us turn around at the same time only to come face-to-face with the guys as they make their way to the stage. Now it's official. My heart has stopped altogether and the stuttering from before has turned to silence.

The guys are getting hooked up and ready to do one more sound test before they head out to the stage. Andy is the first one to go by and he waves at me, yes me. Raven Michelson, loser of the school just got a wave from Andy Biersack. I turn to Scarlet and let out a fan-girl scream that probably would have deafened anyone else. I turn back around to see Ashley Purdy standing next to me and I blush the color of my pants. "You...you...do you know who you are?!" I finally spit out.

Of all the things I could have said to Ashley Purdy and that was it? Someone kill me now, please. I see the biggest grin spread across his face and he chuckles a little bit. "Of course I know who I am. And obviously you are a bit confused? I'm Ashley Purdy!" I blink a couple times at him, unable to speak. Ashley Purdy just made a joke..and I'm an idiot. "Yes! Yes! I know who you are! You're Ashley Purdy, you play bass and do backing vocals." I let it all out in a rush and didn't even stop to see if I made sense or not.

Ashley looks at me and nods with approval. "So, you do know who I am!" He laughs again and heads out onto the stage with Andy. I turn to Scarlet once again, whom I can tell has been holding in a fit of giggles at my screw ups. I roll my eyes and when I look up again I see Jinxx, Jake and CC walk by me with huge smiles plastered on their faces. Fantastic, I've just made an ass of myself in front of the world's greatest band.

I groan internally and face the stage opening so I can watch the set. I can hear them as they talk to the crowd and get them fired up, and I'm doing my best to hold in a scream. Before long I hear the all too familiar intro to In The End and that does it for me. I let out a scream and start dancing and jumping around. By the time the song ends I am exhausted and panting, but I don't care because tonight has already been the best night of my life.

When the last song ends I make a recount of all the songs they played through. In The End, Knives and Pens, The Legacy, Coffin, Savior, Nobody's Hero, Mortician's Daughter, Set the World on Fire, Rebel Love Song, Perfect Weapon, and Fallen Angels. I cheer excitedly with the rest of the crowd and hug my best friend. As I let go of her I feel a tap on my shoulder and security is leading us back to a private room to wait for the guys.
