The Wretched Became Divine

I held myself still as Mimi dipped a brush into the thick black makeup and brought it up to my face,carefully applying the warpaint with a light touch.She leaned back studying my face with a satisfied smirk.She lightly tapped the end of my nose."Beautiful." I roll my eyes and turned to look in the mirror. Heavy warpaint lined my eyes and feathered out,there was two thin stripes running across my cheeks and over my nose.I fluffed up my sapphire hair and looped on my usual necklaces and layered my bracelets and turned to face Mimi and struck a pose."Well?"

She gave me a thumbs up and strutted around my room.I laughed,"Come on Mimi,you look fine as always." We raced down the hall and outside,laughing and giggling like little kids as we slid into her car and turned up the radio.More than ready for the concert.

The line into the venue was already a mile long by time we arrived.Even though it was mostly new,and somewhat still unheard of bands playing,easily more than a hundred dark clothed teens waited eagerly in line.Most,like us,it seemed,were warpaint clad and had turned out to see a new,up-and-coming band Black Veil Brides.Mimi chatted easily with a group of teens in line ahead of us.I,being the more awkward half of this friendship,Stood back quietly with my earbuds in,nodding along in time with the music.

A tug on my arm brought me back to earth and I looked up startled,taking out a earbud."Yeah Mim?"I was concious of the groups' eyes on me."Meet Divination,They mentioned they were looking for a drummer and I told them I just happened to know an amazing one."Mimi beamed excitedly.I looked shyly up at the group,appearenty some new band.One of the boys smiled,his snakebites glinting in the dying light."Your friend says you're pretty good,Are you?"

"Um..I.."I awkwardly tugged on my hair,fumbling over my words.Mimi stepped in to save me from embarrasment."Calypso is one of the best." I nudged her,"Mim,I'm decent,thats all." The boy chuckled and extended his hand.I shyly shook it,"I'm Caden,the lead.Why dont you come by some time and show us what you can do?" "I..uh.."I couldnt get the words out again,and once more Mimi saved my ass."She'd love to." He scribled down his number and address on a scrap of paper and handed it to me just as the venue doors opened.
