We're Setting Worlds On Fire

The past few days had been more than exhausting-they had been unbearable. The guys had finished shooting their photo shoot for AP-all fire and leather for this one, which the guys seemed to really like a lot. Now they were on a sound stage shooting their first video for the record-Fallen Angels. Andy was walking around, his naked torso covered in black streaks and his black hair was sticking straight up, but was being held out of his eyes with a cloth head band. His leather vest, all covered in shining studs, was the only thing keeping him warm, but Lily knew his constant running around was keeping the singer warm enough.

They had been shooting all day-the guys entrance after they fell to Earth, some of the performance and now they were getting ready to shoot the final scene. The record company had put out a call to get as many of the Army members in as possible and even Lily and Michael would be in with the crowd. She was currently looking in to one of the portable mirrors, fixing her War Paint and Michael, covered in his own paint, was standing besides her taking everything in. The male Angel had been with them for only a few days and he, strangely, fit right in with the rest of the guys. Lily had never expected Michael to be into the theatrics or the music, but the Angel was weirdly really in to it.


“So what’s the plan after this?” Michael asked, leaning close to Lily’s ear. It was very loud in the sound stage-all of the extras had been let in and they were being held back against one wall. Lily smiled as she looked towards them and noticed that all five guys were there-taking pictures and signing autographs.

“Um, well we’re on a break while they get the extras in place. Then we’ll finish up here, dinner and tomorrow the guys will be on location for their other video.” Lily said as she capped her eyeliner and then moved to put on her red lipstick. Usually she would just use her powers, but there were a lot of people around to see and question things.

“Why shoot two videos in a row?” Michael asked as he ran a hand through his hair, messing it up slightly. Lily looked at her best friend-he was wearing a black Black Veil Brides shirt, grey ripped skinny jeans and a borrowed pair of boots. His lavender eyes were rimmed in dark liner, his pale lips slightly pink from the lipstick.

“Well the guys are going to be busy recording and then touring, so this was really the only way to get things done.” Lily explained as she straightened up and pulled down her own BVB shirt. The guys were in store for a very hectic few months, but Lily knew they were up for it.

“What about the battle?” Michael asked, his voice low as he got as close to Lily’s ear as he could. She sighed, crossing her arms over her chest-she hated prophecies…they brought nothing but bad news.

“We’ll get to that when it comes-no need worrying the guys about it now.” Lily said as she smiled and watched as Andy turned, his blue eyes searching for her. He smirked as soon as he caught site of her, that lopsided grin making her knees grow weak.


There had been a prophecy-something that Lily usually put a lot of stock in-that had come down from Heaven, to Michael, in a vision while he was meditating. It basically said that sometime in the spring Satan would rise to supreme power, come to Earth and a battle would wage. There was also a tiny part in there saying that the heir to the throne would perish in the battle, but Lily was ignoring that part for now. The spring time meant that while the guys were either in Japan or the UK-great.

Lily smiled as Andy finished with the fans and soon enough he was coming over towards her. His skinny pants were sans writing, his boots covered in as many chains and spurs as he could cram on there and Lily saw that he had found a pair of fingerless leather gloves to stick on his hands. His face was so happy-this was exactly what he wanted to be doing-that she couldn’t even think about breaking the news to him now.


“Hey! Lots of kids showed up I see.” Lily said as she held out her arms and wrapped them around Andy’s waist as he got close enough. She was trying to follow Michael’s advice and embrace Andy in every way, but Lily knew there was still a roadblock up and she didn’t know what to do about it.

“Yeah. Hey-did you guys hear about that strip club burning down the other night? I meant to ask about it but we’ve been so busy. Ash said everyone inside died-over thirty people.” Andy said, his voice laced with sadness. Lily laughed nervously-yeah, yeah she knew exactly what that was all about, but she and Michael had decided to keep it quiet.

“Oh-uh-yeah. Yeah I think that was on the news the other day. You were in the studio and I didn’t want to bother you.” Lily said, smiling as she kissed Andy’s lips lightly and then looked around. Things were beginning to move on, the guys instruments were being put in place with a large metal fence around and the extras were being brought in and put in to place.

“Oh, well it really sucks. All those people. Have you seen our Fallen Angel yet?” Andy asked, turning to his right with a hand extended. Michael and Lily followed his gaze and she smiled as she noticed a short girl with brown hair standing off to the side. Her grey wings and dress looked familiar and Lily only smiled wider as she turned back to Andy.

“She looks really sweet. I love the idea for this whole video…I wonder where you got it from.” Lily teased him, poking his bare side and Andy jumped at her touch. He smirked, rubbing the back of his head as he locked his blue eyes on her.

“Oh ya know-I take all of my inspiration from life.” Andy laughed as he bent down and pressed his lips against hers once again. Lily pushed him away playfully, telling him he needed to get back to his job and Andy finally left the two Angels to finish getting ready.


Lily hated lying to Andy-absolutely hated it, but she knew that if she told him what was going on that he would freak out. The guys had been doing really well with everything-all of the attacks and the training seemed to be keeping them focused, plus they were starting to see the benefits of working hard. Their first album had shot to the top of some of the rock charts and their videos had a lot of plays on Youtube. Andy had freaked out the other day when All Your Hate came on to the radio and all Lily could do was just laugh at him.

She wanted to stay on Earth so badly, but she knew that it wasn’t meant to be. She had gotten word that a soul mate had been chosen for Andy and while it made Lily sad, she understood. She had never known that soul mates for humans were picked by Angels, but apparently there was an entire section of Heaven meant just for that purpose. Lily didn’t have a soul mate-she didn’t really have a soul anymore and so she would forever be alone.

At least she had friends again-something that she hadn’t even known she missed until getting her feelings back. It was nice having people to laugh with and to make you laugh, but it was also nice just having someone to talk to. Lily had forgotten what a good listener Jinxx was, or how much good advice Jake would give her a on a daily basis. CC always made her giggle and Ashley was always good for a bit of teasing.

Then there was Andy. He made her feel unlike she had ever felt in life-he made her feel special. Even when Lily had been human, she had just been another freaky girl who wasn’t worth anyone’s time. She had died with no friends and she knew that very few people had gone to her funeral. Then she had landed in Andy’s world, where he was equally as miserable as she was but he hadn’t known it until she had showed up.

They had helped one another-she had helped him learn how to be human and by doing that she had learned how to be one again as well. Now here they were-in this weird place where Lily wanted to give him every little piece of herself, but she knew that it was only temporary.


“Earth to Lily…” Michael was saying from beside her and Lily snapped to attention and noticed that the guys had gotten into position. Andy was smirking at her, his blue eyes taunting as he waved at her and Lily felt a blush creep across her cheeks.

“Oh-s-sorry. Coming!” She called out and Andy only shook his head as Ashley burst out laughing, along with CC who was sitting behind his drums. Lily blushed again as she and Michael wove their in to the crowd and soon enough they were lost.

“Yeah…maybe eventually that will happen. Maybe then you’ll relax a little bit more.” Michael laughed, wincing as Lily smacked his shoulder and the director called out for the music to begin playing.

“Oh hush-I still haven’t made up my mind about that.” Lily said as she looked around and noticed that all of the kids began to bop their heads up and down in time with the music.

“Honey if you don’t jump on that I know plenty of girls who will…myself included.” Michael laughed then as Lily looked over at him, her mouth wide open and then she looked towards where Andy was standing.


He and the guys were rocking out, strumming guitars that weren’t plugged in and CC was smacking at his drums even though they gave off no sound. Andy was singing along, very quietly as the music played and Lily laughed as he got more and more in to it, throwing his hands up and it seemed to get the crowd going. Lily tossed her arms in the air, singing along as well and even Michael had his fists raised with a wide grin on his lips. The guys had their haters, but the haters clearly didn’t understand what this band was all about.

Black Veil Brides wasn’t about being metal or punk or scream-it was about connecting with the music and with a group of people that were just like you. They were all same in that moment-they all had pain in their lives that had drug them down to the lowest point possible. Lily had been there and she knew what it felt like to not have any hope in her life. She had taken her hopelessness out on herself and she had paid dearly for it, but what she got back from her pain made it all worthwhile. She now had the most loving, caring and funny guy in her life and that was the best thing ever.


“What are you smiling about over there? You look like the cat that got in to the cream…” Michael laughed as they started in on a second take and Lily only laughed as she turned to face her best friend. She could never hide her thoughts or her feelings from Michael because he had known her for so long.

“Nothing…don’t worry about it.” Lily said through the corner of her mouth and Michael only smiled as the music started up again.

“Look, if it helps I get it-you love him…so love him.” Michael said, ribbing her in the side and Lily only blushed more. She did love Andy and she wanted to be with him in that way, but it wasn’t that easy.

“He’s a Demon, Michael, and it’s forbidden for us to even be thinking about this right now.” Lily said as she tried to sing along but her mind was on other things. Like how their bodies melted together whenever they got close enough and the feel of Andy’s lips on her hot skin as he kissed her all over.

“So-sometimes forbidden fruits are the best kind.” He winked a lavender eye at her and Lily only smirked as she pumped her fist in to the air and look like she was an angry youth who had finally found her place in life.

“Yeah, Eve knows all about that.” She quipped and Michael only shrugged as they both joined in with the group.


Lily wanted to break the rules, but the aftermath of breaking those rules was dire. She had been told, by Michael himself, that if she and Andy had any sort of physical relationship ever again, that Andy would be destroyed. Besides Lily wasn’t hanging around on Earth forever and Andy certainly wasn’t going to be spending weekends up in Heaven. No, his place was here on Earth leading the Army and making kids feel something. Lily’s place was in Heaven, watching over him and the rest of the band and being the proud Guardian Angel that she wanted to be.

As long as the group stopped fucking up her plans and wasting time.


“Cut! That’s a wrap people!” The director called out and there was a lot of cheering going around. Lily smiled at Michael as the two Angels walked back towards where their bags were sitting and began to get everything together.

“What if Andy wasn’t a Demon anymore?” Michael said suddenly, breaking Lily’s train of thought. She looked over at her fellow Angel and smiled as she watched him try and wipe all of the makeup off.

“What are you talking about?” Lily asked as she pulled out her jacket from inside her bag and tossed it over her shoulders.

“What if Andy wasn’t a Demon anymore-then would you sleep with him?” Michael asked and Lily felt her eyes grow wide. Was that even possible?

“I-I don’t know…I’ve never thought about it like that. But h-he can’t turn human…not fully…” Lily said and suddenly she felt her heart speed up. Michael was looking at her and as he placed a hand on her shoulder and turned Lily around until she was facing the direction that Andy was standing in, she heard him whisper in to her ear softly.

“Angels can turn Demons in to humans Lily…”
