We're Setting Worlds On Fire

The noise that was floating around their gate in the LAX Airport was almost deafening and Lily sighed as she looked at the clock. Ten minutes and they could finally start boarding, something that the entire group was looking forward to. They were enroute to the UK, where the guys would be joining a tour for their very first time in the UK. The trip had taken a lot of planning-neither Andy nor Ashley had passports, or birth certificates, or any kind of identification at all. Lily and Jon had done some quick work and now both guys had passports, driver’s licenses and birth certificates.

Andrew Dennis Biersack-a name that Andy had chosen rather quickly and it was very strange to Lily-was born on December 26th 1990, which made Lily laugh as that was her own birthday. Ashley Purdy was born on January 28th 1984 and of course his picture on both his license and passport were appropriately dashing. Lily laughed as she looked beside her and noticed that Andy was jiggling his leg up and down and he was biting his fingernails down to the quick. To say he was scared of flying would be a massive understatement-Andy was absolutely terrified to get on that plane.


“You doing okay over there?” Lily asked, laughter in her voice as she looked across from her to where Andy was sitting. His blue eyes, which were trained on the floor, scanned up and connected with hers and Lily couldn’t help but notice the utter look of terror that was in those blue orbs of his.

“Y-yeah…I-I’m fine.” Andy stuttered and Lily only smiled at him softly, placing her bookmark in her book before walking over to sit beside him. The black leather of the seat behind him and the leather of his jacket was making him hot, but seeing Lily walking towards him also was suddenly making Andy nervous.

“Really? You sure about that?” Lily asked as she sat down beside Andy and reached for one of his hands. His ringed fingers rubbed against her skin and Lily smiled as she looked over at him. He was dressed comfortably in a white v-neck shirt, his leather jacket, a pair of skinny jeans and of course his leather boots.

“I just…people weren’t meant to fly Lil’. If they were then they would have been born with wings…” Andy said, biting down on his lip ring nervously and Lily couldn’t help but smirk. She looked so cute sitting beside him, her long blonde hair straight around her face and she had on a loose fitting tank top, underneath a red leather jacket and a pair of ripped and slashed leggings. Her feet were crossed at the ankles, her heeled red ankle boots finishing off the entire look.

“Well I’ll talk to God about that the next time I see him.” She laughed as she reached out to twirl a piece of his long black hair around her finger. His hair was cut in a chunky layered cut that made his perfect face look more angular and striking.

“Thanks…have you heard from Michael lately?” Andy asked, smiling as Lily smirked and shook her head. She hadn’t heard from anyone back home since her fated visit and reintroduction to her emotions. That was fine-she didn’t need them right now…she had Andy and the guys.

The day after her emotional breakthrough, Lily and Andy had sat the guys down and explained everything that had happened. Lily had brought up her memories again, playing them out like a movie for the guys and she watched as they all got teary eyed. They’d had no idea what she had been through, how much she had suffered and as everything ended, Lily found herself being embraced by everyone, including Ashley, who had tears falling down his cheeks.

Andy had looked on, uncomfortable by their closeness and Lily only smiled at him softly as she broke away from the bassist. He hadn’t gotten the chance to ask her what was going on between the two of them and he was almost too scared to. Lily and Ash had spent a lot of time together and Andy knew it had something to do with his ill-fated relationship with Angel.


“So what’s going on with you and Ash? You guys are still looking pretty chummy…” Andy said, a smirk on his lips and Lily only scrunched her button nose at him and shook her head. He was being nosey again, but Lily wasn’t playing in to his games-Ashley had confided something in her and Lily was keeping her mouth shut until Ash was ready to share with the others.

“Nothing Andy…” Lily laughed then as Andy’s fingers were wiggling against her side and she broke out in to a fit of giggles. The two of them joked around while they waited until finally their seat section had been called to begin boarding.


Lily stood, her hand still held tightly by Andy as the two of them gathered their things and joined the rest of the group. Ashley, Jake and Jinxx went first, handing over their boarding passes before disappearing down the long hallway to get on the plane. CC, Jon and their new merch guy Toby were next and Andy held his breath as he watched everyone disappear and then he and Lily were next. He handed over his paper boarding pass to the woman and inhaled deeply as he waited for Lily, who was coming last in line. She gave him an encouraging smile and as she passed, Lily reached down and took Andy’s hand in her own.

The two of them walked, hand in hand down the gangway until finally they came to the door of the plane. There was a smiling woman standing there, waiting to greet them and Andy stopped dead in his tracks, not stepping one foot over the threshold of this plane. He wished there was some way he could get overseas without having to get into something that was pretty much a death tube with wings attached. Lily pushed him off to the side, allowing people behind them to move forward and Andy just stood there, his back up against the fabric wall as Lily stood before him.


“Come on Andy…we have to get on the plane…” Lily said softly as she placed a hand on each of his arms and looked up at him through his bangs. Andy was biting down on his lower lip, sucking his lip ring into his mouth and Lily knew that was his ultimate nervous habit.

“I-I know…I-I just…” He was getting flustered and Lily could clearly see that. With one swift move, she had swept his hair out of his face and Andy found her lips on his gently. Her tiny hands were on either side of his face and as she kissed him, Andy felt his entire body grow warm.

“Come on.” Was all Lily said as she grabbed for his hand and Andy followed behind her silently. He stepped over the threshold of the plane, sucking in a breath as they turned the corner and everyone else came into view.


Their seats were halfway down the plane and on the left and as she walked, Andy trailing behind her, Lily saw that all of the guys were already in their seats. CC was sitting with his head against the head rest of his seat, snoring loudly. Lily kept walking, Andy gripping her hand for dear life and she smirked at Ashley as the two of them caught one another’s eyes and Lily held out her hand for Andy. He sat down, his hands clasped together tightly, but Andy was obviously nervous. Lily quickly put her carry-on up in the compartment above them before sitting down. Andy grabbed for her hand and Lily laughed softly as she looked over at him.


“You ready for this?” Lily asked as she buckled her seat belt and looked towards Andy. He was only nodding his head, fumbling to get his seat belt buckled but he was failing miserably. Lily only laughed as she reached over, her hands grazing over his as she got his belt clasped and then sat back in her chair.

“Not really-thanks.” Andy said, his low voice gruff as he smiled at her and then faced forward. There was a flight attendant giving instructions and of course Andy, having never flown before, would want to hear every word.


Lily sat there, half listening to the safety talk, but her mind was elsewhere. Things with Andy over the past few days had been strange-they had fallen in to an old routine and way of being around one another, except they weren’t technically together. They kissed and cuddled, but it was all very quiet and hidden away behind curtains of a bunk. Lily wanted-desperately-to be with Andy in every single way possible because she loved him with all her heart, but she knew that it just couldn’t be. There was no telling what would happen to either one of them if they were caught and Lily couldn’t bear to think that Andy would be taken away from her.

After the flight attendant was finished with her speech, Andy stiffened in his seat as the plane began to move towards the runway. Lily tried to keep the smirk from her lips as she grabbed for his hand and held on to it tightly. He was shaking and Lily said nothing as she placed her head on his shoulder and Andy kissed the top of her hair. Lily smiled as she cuddled into his side and closed her eyes-she still couldn’t sleep, but she could use this time to meditate. Sadly that was not in the cards for Lily as Andy had begun to shake so hard that she opened her eyes and looked at his face. It was devoid of any color and he was chewing on his lip ring so much she was shocked it wasn’t bleeding.


“It’s gonna be okay Andy…” Lily said and he only nodded his head as he made complete eye contact with her. His blue eyes were filled with tears and Lily tried to make her own lavender eyes as soft and understanding as possible. She could hear the engines running and Lily knew it was only a matter of minutes before takeoff.

“Yep…” He said, his eyes shutting as the engines got louder and louder. Lily gripped his hand, squeezing it as much as she possibly could.

“Andy-look at me.” She said and his eyes popped open and stared straight into hers. He felt calm as he looked in to those eyes and Lily smiled. She needed to distract him during takeoff and she knew this would help.

“Look into my eyes. Focus on my eyes and on nothing else.” Andy took in a deep breath, his hands gripping the hand rests on his seat as the plane began to takeoff and his stomach did a flip.

“You are fine…we are going to be fine…everything is fine…” Lily was speaking to him softly and then her lips were on his.


They kissed, slowly and Andy let his hands drift up to tangle his fingers in her hair, but as soon as it started, Lily stopped and smiled at him. They were in the air at this point and Andy only sighed as he leaned back in his chair, grabbing for one of her hands and holding it in his own tightly. He couldn’t believe this-he was on an airplane, in the sky…where he could plummet to his death any moment. What the fuck was wrong with him? Andy sat back closing his eyes and he smirked when he heard Lily’s soft laughter coming from beside him.


“Something funny?” Andy asked as he finally opened his eyes and looked over at the girl sitting beside him. She was giggling, her hand held over her mouth as she looked at him and nodded her head slowly.

“You…out of all the things for you to be scared of…flying isn’t what I expected.” She was laughing again and Andy only rolled his eyes and looked over his shoulder. CC was snoring softly, Ashley was reading a book, Jake and Jinxx were both speaking to one another softly and Jon and Toby were also asleep.

“Yeah well not all of us can float around on our own personal wings…” He quipped and Lily only rolled her eyes. He desperately wanted her to take him flying, but Lily knew that that was never going to happen.

“Only a few of us can be so lucky. Just relax Andy…we’ll be there before you know it…” She smiled at him, rubbing her hand on top of his as Lily rested her head against the back of her seat and closed her eyes.

“What’s going to happen if we crash…” He sounded nervous as the plane gave a bump and Lily only smirked, but kept her eyes closed.

“We won’t.”

“But what if we do…”

“Andy.”

“Will you be able to hold the plane up if we start to crash?”

“No.”

“But-“

“Andy?”

“Yeah Lil’?”

“Shut up and go to sleep.” Andy only smirked as he did just as she suggested, but they both knew this was going to be a very, very long flight.
