We're Setting Worlds On Fire

Training Day

The sun was shining through the curtains of the front window and Lily creaked an eye open to glance around her. No one was up yet, but of course this group of people often slept in until noon-not today though. Lily rubbed her palms together, causing some slight friction and she smiled as she was able to create a small flame from her hands. Good-her meditation last night had proved fruitful.

As she stood, Lily bent this way and that, trying to get the kinks out of her stiff muscles-she hated being down on Earth for this very reason. Down here she was solid, she had mass and she had a form therefore she got aches and pains just like the humans. Up in Heaven she felt nothing-she was free to move as she pleased without thought of consequence.

Lily moved down that hallway slowly, her bare feet padding against the soft carpet as she looked from room to room. She wasn’t going to wake up Sammi, but she was most definitely going to get Andy and Jinxx up so that they could get showered and get their asses to that practice space. Passing the bathroom, Lily looked to her right and noticed that there was a long hallway with a door at the end.

Andy’s room. She approached the door slowly, her hand reached out until finally she grabbed for the knob and turned-it was unlocked, just as she thought it would be. As Lily opened the door fully and walked into the room, she couldn’t keep the gasp from escaping her lips.

Andy was fast asleep in their old bed, but that wasn’t what had made her gasp. He had decorated the room just as it had been when she was alive. The same posters lined the walls, a few pictures of them together were still sitting on the dresser and suddenly Lily felt her heart stop. She had watched him get rid of a lot of this stuff-tossing it out or giving it away, but it seemed like he had held on to some things to remember her by.

Sweet-but unnecessary. Lily had moved on, she had given up on their love and missing him because it did nothing but make things worse-why did it seem like Andy couldn’t do the same? Silently Lily walked over towards the bed and placed a hand against his uncovered shoulder.

“Andy? Andy it’s time to get up…” She said quietly, smiling as she heard him groan. Andy was always a pain in the ass to wake up-some things never changed.

“No-it’s my day off and I want to sleep.” He grumbled, turning over so that he was facing her. His eyes were still closed, but he licked his lips twice which meant that he was awake, but just didn’t want to wake up fully.

“You don’t have days off-you’re working with me now every morning on training. So get your skinny ass up and in the shower.” Lily said, crossing her arms over her chest as Andy finally cracked his eyes open and looked at her. Lily looked perfect standing there in a white sports bra with a deep purple loose fitting tank top over it. Looking down at her tight black work out pants, Andy suddenly found himself fully awake- in more ways than one.

“Ugh…” He groaned as he moved to get out of bed, sweeping the covers away from his body. Andy smirked as Lily adverted her eyes away from his body. He was only in a pair of black Batman boxers but she had seen him less clothed than this. What was there to be shy about now?

“G-go get in the shower Andy. I-I’ll be waiting for you out in the living room.” Lily spun around, her hair whipping out around her head as she walked back out towards the living room. Hopefully Andy hadn’t seen the bright blush creep across the bridge of her nose.

What was going on with her? Get it together Lily! You are an Angel Warrior sent down from Heaven to whip this kid in to shape and turn him in to the vicious fighter that he was destined to be. She told herself this over and over as Lily walked out to the living room and sat down on the couch once again. She listened silently as the shower began to run and Lily smiled as she realized that finally Andy was listening to her. Suddenly she felt that blush creep across her cheeks again as Lily thought back to how he looked standing there in front of her in his bedroom.

His thin body, his chest that sloped down in to his toned stomach, which then ended in his slim hips. She thought about his arms-those strong arms that had held her once…had loved her in every way possible. A memory, one that she thought had been taken away from her, suddenly flashed before her eyes-their first time together. Their bodies combining for the first time, writhing together in the throes of passion as they joined in something that they had both longed for. That act-that simple act of pure love was what had ruined her…had ruined everything. None of them would be in the positions they were in now if Andy and Lily had just kept their love to themselves.

It was all her fault…everything was her fault.

“You okay? You’re looking a little flushed there Lily.” Someone joked from her left and Lily whipped her head around to find Andy standing before her. His hair was still sopping wet and hanging down around his face, but he was dressed in a loose fitting shirt with a pair of basketball shorts on that hung down by his knees.

“Fine. Ready to go?” Lily said as she stood up, her arms hanging down around her sides. Andy crossed his arms over his chest, looking down at the small Angel that stood before him.She had her blonde hair pulled back tightly, her bangs pinned against her head and suddenly he flashed back to their battle. Andy shuddered as he stood there, shaking the thought from his head as Lily stared at him.

The two of them quietly walked out of the apartment, Lily holding up her hand as she closed the door and Andy watched as the red mist from the night before reappeared and then was gone just as quickly. Andy knew he would have to ask Lily about that-they had a lot they needed to talk about, but he could tell by the quickness of her gait that Lily was all business today. They walked down the sidewalk, Lily leading the way and Andy wondered how she knew where she was going.

There were a lot of things Andy was wondering about when it came to this still perfect girl in front of him. Why was she wound so tightly? What had happened to her since leaving him to go to Heaven? She seemed so stern and she took more care in everything that she did. The Lily of the past was so carefree and happy-completely different from the girl who was walking in front of him that very moment.

They walked along quietly but Andy felt his stomach sink as he noticed the tall building that was coming up in the distance. This was one building that Andy had never wanted to see again-the building where they had had that horrible battle…the place where Lily had died. Andy expected Lily to stop in her tracks and break down in to tears as they passed, but instead she turned towards the forbidding building and moved to open the door. It was locked, but Andy stood back as he watched Lily look left then look right before she placed her hand against the thick metal door. There was a soft tapping noise and then suddenly the door popped open and Lily turned to face him.

“This is where we will be training every morning until we leave for tour in two weeks.” Lily said as she turned to face him. Andy looked sick, his pale face was completely devoid of all coloring and he was staring behind her wide eyed. Obviously he recognized the building, but Lily had hoped for that-she was hoping that it would motivate him to be in a space of such terrible memories.

“Lily-I-I can’t go in there…” Andy stuttered and Lily only sighed as she reached for his hand and pulled him forward. He was going to have to get over a lot of things-her death especially-and Lily was hoping that she would be able to get Andy past a lot of terrible things in his life.

She pulled him along and halfway up the stairs Andy stopped digging his heels into the stairs. This place-held so many poor memories, but Andy could tell that Lily was intent on them working here. As he climbed, Andy couldn’t help but think back to that wretched day. The kids, following behind them like little soldiers as he spoke to them like a great leader.

What a leader he had turned out to be-pathetic and worthless in anything battle related. As they got up to the top landing, Andy felt his heart stop in his chest as he looked before him. The wide room was empty, the windows cracked and letting in a slight breeze and as Andy looked around he gasped when his eyes looked down towards the floor.

There, in the middle of the floor was a crimson stain that would probably never be removed. Andy noticed that Lily had left his side and was now crouching down by the stain, her hand held out and hovering right above the floor. The room seemed to vibrate and Andy held a silent scream in his throat as misty figures floated up from the floor and hovered near the ceiling. The battle was being played out in front of him and it was taking everything with in him not to turn around and run.

Andy watched as Lily moved around the space, her small hands held up in front of her as mist continued to flow around her. Soon enough the walls were lined with mats, there was a weapons rack in one corner, a punching bag hanging from the ceiling and Lily was standing in the middle of all of it, a small smirk on her face and her arms crossed over her chest.

“Wha-what is going on?” Andy asked as he walked forward. Lily remained where she was, watching him silently as Andy walked towards the punching bag and took a stance. She watched as Andy let out a punch and she held in a giggle as the bag hardly moved an inch. He was so very out of practice and Lily knew just the thing to get him to realize that fact.

“I told you we were training today…” Lily said as she reached over her head and suddenly her sword was in her small hands. Andy looked at her, his mouth hanging open as Lily twirled around, the sword held tightly in her hands as she dipped and dove around. He looked to his left and took in the weapons rack-there were swords there and Andy only smiled as he picked one up.

“I guess it’s time to show me what you’ve got Angel…” He cocked an eyebrow at her and Lily only smirked as she ran at him, bringing her sword down against his own.

The two of them spared for what seemed like hours-Andy was sweating bullets as he nearly missed getting nicked once or twice. Lily seemed calm and determined as she ran around, holding her sword up as she blocked every move that he made against her. Andy couldn’t keep up and suddenly he felt out of breath as he spun around and found himself in a tight spot. Lily only smiled at him, pushing her sword against his chest as he fell back against one of the mats that lined the wall. Andy was trapped, his sword down on the floor and Lily was smiling at him, her sword held against his heaving chest as she just continued to look at him silently.

“Had enough?” Lily asked and she raised an eyebrow at him as she continued to hold him in place.

“Yeah-yeah I think I’m good.” Andy said, his voice breathless and Lily knew she had bested him. It felt nice being on this side of the training session. She didn’t remember much of her time with Andy, but she did recall their training sessions where Andy trained her until she was breathless and shaking on the floor.

“Good. Now, let’s start with some basic moves…” Lily said as she dropped her sword and threw it up in the air. Andy flinched away, thinking that it was going to come clashing down against the ground, but with a wave of her hand, Lily watched as the sword turned into a pure white dove and flew off.

The two began to train and Andy hadn’t felt this tired in a long while. It made him smile however, being in this place with Lily and doing something that they had done when they were together. Maybe this was it-maybe training like this would bring her back to him…remind her of what they once were.

Andy found himself flat on his back, Lily standing over him with her hands resting against her knees as she smirked down at him. Their roles had been reversed and it felt good to see that finally she was able to show Andy that she wasn’t the weak girl that she had been.

She wasn’t his Lily any longer…

Notes

The roles are reversed now, but for how long? What do you guys think of Lily and her powers? Questions? Concerns?

@FallenAngel26

Aww I'm so glad you liked it! This series was really fun for me to write because I was able to put so much imagery in to it.

Just finished this series and oh my gosh! I can honestly say that a fan fiction had not made me cry until now. This story hit me right in the feels, expecially the 'just tonight' chapter. It just makes me so sad that they love each other so much but they can't be together. Anyways I love your stories, they are some of my favorites on this site :).

I just have to say that after reading this I now look at God Bless You as a way of telling Satan off

@Truly A Teenage Runaway

Aww well thanks! Start with A Love By Mistake as that is actually where this story is supposed to go. I warn you-I have A LOT of work haha so it may take some time.
