We're Setting Worlds On Fire

“You looked really good out there…” Lily said, her voice pleasant but hesitant as she tried to keep her eyes on Andy’s face. She had caught a glimpse of his tight pants earlier and they left little to the imagination. Andy only smiled down at her as he reached one hand behind his head to fluff his hair and he had that adorable smirk on his lips.

“Where were you? I looked for you at the side of the stage but you weren’t there through our entire set.” His voice was sad and Lily had to bite her tongue to keep from saying something. If she could still feel, Lily knew she would feel terrible in this moment but she had learned to shut off her emotions a long time ago. They only got you in to trouble.

“I was out in the crowd. I wanted tonight to go smoothly.” She said simply and Andy only cocked an eyebrow at her as they continued to walk down the long hallway. Lily groaned as they got closer to the dressing room door and the closer they got the louder the giggling from within became.

Lily watched as Andy let go of her hand and entered the very small dressing room. Lily stayed in the doorway-the room was looking crowded as it was and she felt better being away from everything that was going on. She looked in, her pale arms crossed over her chest and she really didn’t like what she saw. Ashley and CC were both getting shots poured for everyone while Jake and Jinxx were over in the corner talking to the two girls that had made it backstage, plus there were other girls waiting nearby. Lily scoffed-both of them had girlfriends at home…what the fuck were they doing?

Lily rolled her eyes as she looked at the group of girls-they were as fake as fake could be. All of these girls looked identical-fake hair, fake tits, fake lips and fake interest in this type of music. They were all standing there, looking mildly interested as Jake, Jinxx and now Ashley tried to impress them. Most of the girls were wearing fishnets and tight black dresses or pants and Lily could hardly hold in her laughter. Ashley was really getting in to it with two of the girls, smiling and laughing as he touched their hair or their skin. Pathetic. Andy, thankfully, was off in one corner digging through his bag for a hoodie to put on. Lily noticed that Ashley was staring at her, his eyes mere slits as he took her in.

“Andy! Come over here man! I have a shot with your fucking name on it!” Ashley called out to Andy and Lily sucked in a breath. She was quick to action though-having almost run over to where Andy was standing, still pulling a hoodie over his teased hair. She linked arms with him, smiling as Lily led them both over towards the door of the dressing room.

“Not now Ash. Andy’s gonna go outside and smoke for a bit.” Lily said quickly as she continued to pull Andy towards the door. He stopped moving, looking between the two dumbly and Lily felt her anger rise. Why couldn’t he just do what she told him to?

“He can smoke in here. Come on man-one of those girls over there is really interested in talking to you…” Ashley had walked over to them, placing a steady hand on Andy’s shoulder. Lily only gripped onto his arm tighter, her teeth grinding together in anger and frustration.

“He’s going outside. Come on Andy…” Lily said as she flashed Ashley a ‘just try it and see what fucking happens’ look. The bassist rolled his eyes and hesitantly walked away. Lily watched the bassist move back over towards his collection of girls and she only smirked as Lily caught his eyes.

The look on Ashley’s face was absolutely deadly and Lily couldn’t help but shiver as she met his eyes. She didn’t care though-she was so completely over watching Ashley Purdy turn Andy into a mini manwhore. Andy really needed to focus-on a lot of things-and really the entire band needed to refocus their efforts. They were supposed to be writing songs and touring the country, meeting fans and making them believe in The Army.

They were floundering and Lily could see that they were all growing tired of living this life-except for Ashley. Hopefully with Lily’s guidance she could get them all on the right path and working on new material. She had already helped them with one song-which she had been proud of and she hoped to get Andy to feel more inspired.

Lily directed Andy out of the room, pulling the door shut behind them and she noticed that he willfully allowed her to steer him around the back area of the venue. Secretly Andy was thankful to Lily for interfering with Ashley. He didn’t want to drink or pretend like he gave two shits what any of those girls had to say to him. Andy only wanted to be around Lily-he had so many questions for her. Why was she being so cold towards him? Why was she back and why did she seem so unhappy to be back? Now that they were alone and walking out into the still night air, Andy was hopeful that he would finally get some answers out of her.

“So are we going to talk about your sudden reappearance into our lives? Or are we just all supposed to pretend like you never left and things can just go back to normal?” Andy asked as he moved to lean up against the back wall of the club. Lily only looked at him-taking in everything about him from his teased hair, his hoodie covered shoulders all the way down to his tight pants and cowboy boot clad feet.

“We will talk about my coming back later tonight. Right now I need you to focus on these fans that are fast approaching.” Lily said and Andy followed her gaze silently. There was a group of five people coming towards them and Andy only smiled as he exhaled a puff of smoke and snuffed out his cigarette on the side of the building.

“Hey guys!” Andy said happily and this time he really felt it in his bones. He could see that one girl had already started crying and Andy always felt puzzled by this. Why on Earth did his mere presence make girls burst in to tears?

“I-I can’t believe we were actually able to catch you out here! You guys were so awesome up there tonight!” One girl with black hair and Jinxx War Paint said excitedly.

“Well here I am! Did you guys enjoy the show? It’s our very last one on this tour.” Andy said sadly. He hated to think that this tour was coming to an end-but they were quickly joining another one in a week or two.

“It was so awesome! You guys rocked it up there so hard…” Another girl said, her braces shining in the soft lamp light. Andy smiled as he reached for things to sign and they all made small talk. Andy hadn’t felt this connected to his fans in a long time and as he looked over his shoulder at Lily, he could see the happiness shining in her eyes.

“You guys are so awesome!” Andy laughed as he reached towards the closest girl and hugged her tightly. This small group had made him laugh and had shown him that he could have just as much fun sober and outside as he could drunk and inside with a bunch of girls who only wanted one thing.

Andy stood outside for what seemed like hours-his fingers were growing numb from writing his name over and over again and his cheeks hurt from smiling so much. It was worth it though to see these fans smile and cry out in excitement when he joked around with them or hugged them. He met fan after fan, never turning anyone away, but he knew that Lily was right behind him-lurking in the shadows and watching his every move. She was disappointed in him-he should have been doing this all along and yet he had slacked off. He had stopped caring-he had numbed himself to the fans because in each and every fan he only saw her…Lily.

Lily watched silently as the fans began to drift away and soon enough it was only she and Andy in the alleyway. Suddenly a small girl came into the light of a nearby street lamp and Lily felt her heart stop. This girl, this very small and shy girl was radiating with pain and agony and Lily felt like she wanted to cry.

Lily cocked her head to one side, clearing her throat and she watched as Andy’s eyes, which had been trained on her, grew large and he quickly turned back around. Crossing her arms over her chest, Lily watched silently as Andy greeted the girl and walked towards her slowly.

“What’s your name?” Andy asked the small girl as she finished walking towards him and just stopped right where she was. She was looking at him with wide hazel eyes, her light brown hair getting in her face as she looked down at her shoes. She was pale in this light and Andy held his breath as he looked at her. She could have been Lily-two years ago and this was Lily.

“Co-Constance. M-my name is Constance.” She stuttered nervously and her eyes never left her shoes. Lily looked down at the girl’s slim wrists and noticed a lot of bracelets sitting there. She felt her heart break-she knew what that meant.

“That’s a really pretty name for a very pretty girl.” Andy said sweetly. Lily held her breath-why did he have to be so perfect? Andy noticed that the girl held a white sheet of paper held in her hands tightly and he motioned towards it gently.

“Th-thank you.” She said as she looked at him and Andy felt his blood run cold. Her eyes-they looked so sad…so dead.

“What’s that you have there?” He asked, motioning towards the paper once again and the girl instantly blushed as she handed it over. Andy’s mouth dropped open in shock as he looked down at the paper in his hands. Constance had drawn him and she had done a damn good job of it too.

She had gotten every detail of their album cover down perfectly. The slope of his nose, the fullness of his lips, the pure sadness in his eyes and she had even drawn the very tiny stitches that laid next to his lips. The most haunting aspect of the entire picture was his eyes-the drawing was done entirely in black and grey, except for his eyes. She had colored in his irises with a light blue color that grew deeper the closer he looked.

Andy felt breathless because no one had ever been able to draw him in such a way-he had never received a piece of art before. Andy clutched the picture to his chest, right over his heart, as he smiled down at the girl and then pulled Constance in for a hug.

“Thank you so much-this is incredible and you are very talented.” Andy said as he pulled out of their hug and Constance only blushed and looked down at her shoes.

“I drew it as a thank you-because of you and Black Veil Brides I’ve been cut free for a week…” She said this so quietly that Andy could hardly hear her. Lily had heard her though and she held her breath as Andy stayed silent.

“Well that’s good. I’m very proud of you for staying strong and I want you to promise me that you will never hurt yourself like that ever again. You don’t need to-you are perfect being you and I am here for you if you ever need me again. You are worth so much more than you give yourself credit for Constance.” He was hugging her again, tightly. In a way Andy felt like he was hugging Lily again-he felt like he was really wrapping his arms around her tightly, even though she would barely let him touch her.

“I-I promise. I have to go because my mom is waiting for me. Thanks for everything Andy.” Constance smiled at him and Andy only watched as the girl pulled away and began to walk down towards the end of the alleyway. He sucked in a breath as Andy turned to face Lily, who was still lurking in the shadows silently.

“That was really intense…” He sighed as he walked towards her and was shocked to find that Lily was leaning up against the wall with a huge smile on her face and tears in her eyes. There was a look of pride on her face as she took him in and deep down Lily was incredibly proud of Andy.

“I know and that’s what I need you to do from now on. All of you guys have to continue to connect with these kids in that way.” She placed a hand on his arm and Andy felt the electricity run through his body. It had been so long since he had felt this way and Andy wasn’t sure what to do or say.

“I know…we’re going to set the world on fire Lily…and this time we’re going to do it the right way.” The two only smiled at one another as they both headed inside of the building.

They both knew that the guys had what it took, but would they be up for the challenge?

Notes

Another update! I know a lot of you are going back to school, so I hope all goes well and if you guys need anything-to talk or whatever...you can always message me on this site or my tumblr. I also have a kik, so there is that platform as well.

Food for thought-A lot of you guys have wondered why my stories aren't higher up on the popular pages of this site. I'm not positive, but I do think it has something to do with comment average and view average. So if you feel that this story (or any of my other stories) should be on the first or second page of the popular section, then please feel free to review.

Aww I'm so glad you liked it! This series was really fun for me to write because I was able to put so much imagery in to it.

Just finished this series and oh my gosh! I can honestly say that a fan fiction had not made me cry until now. This story hit me right in the feels, expecially the 'just tonight' chapter. It just makes me so sad that they love each other so much but they can't be together. Anyways I love your stories, they are some of my favorites on this site :).

@Truly A Teenage Runaway
