Together Burning Bright

Little Black Veil Family

The morning seemed to come early for Andy and Dess, but that was okay because it meant that they got to spend more time with their baby girl. One of the nurses had come in, the sun barely peaking through the windows, but she told the couple that they were going to wheel Arabella into the room so that the parents could visit with her before leaving. Tests had been run all night long and thankfully their little bundle had been given a clean bill of health, as had Dess and so the little family would be able to get home sometime within that day. Andy nearly fell out of the bed from jumping up to get to Arabella quickly and Dess only laughed as she reached over and grabbed for the tea that one of the nurses had brought her.

Since she was breast feeding-Odessa still couldn’t drink things that were high in caffeine or eat things like raw fish and it was getting to her. She missed her coffee, but she knew that with a new baby around, Odessa and Andy were going to be so busy they wouldn’t have time to think about anything else. As Andy held their daughter, rocking her in his arms slowly as he crooned to her softly, Dess felt tears come to her eyes. This moment was perfect-absolutely perfect and she couldn’t imagine it getting any better. Until that is the door popped open and a reddish black head popped into view and Dess smirked widely.

Uncle Ashley had finally shown up.

“Hey you two…can I come in?” Ashley whispered as he looked around and caught Odessa eyes. She nodded and watched as the shorter male made his way towards Andy and placed a hand on the singer’s shoulder. He looked over the bundle in Andy’s arms and Ashley Purdy fell in love.

“Oh my God-she’s absurdly gorgeous…” He whispered and Andy only smirked as he continued to rock her, but he had moved to face Dess so that she could see as well. Arabella had her tiny hands curled into fists and she currently sticking her tongue out at them all.

“She gets that from her mother…” Andy smirked at Dess, who only rolled her eyes and pulled the blanket up her body. She still felt sore, but not having a huge belly and swollen feet was going to be wonderful in a few days.

“You wanna hold her Ash?” Dess asked and Ashley just looked at her, his brown eyes wide and uncertain.

“I-um-what if I break her or something?” He asked and Andy only shook his head as he nodded towards the empty chair. Ashley sat down, his black pants and grey shirt a stark contrast against the light blue chair he was sitting in.

“I thought the same thing, but she’s pretty tough this little nugget of mine.” Andy laughed as Ashley held out his arms and Andy placed the small baby into his strong tattooed arms. He cradled her head with one hand, her soft hair delicate and fine against his calloused fingers and Ashley knew then that he would do anything for this little girl.

The small group sat there, laughing and joking quietly as Ashley held onto Arabella and Andy pulled out his phone. He had already taken tons of pictures of the baby and Dess and the baby and himself, but now he wanted pictures of her and her uncles. As he aimed and tapped his phone, Andy couldn’t help but feel a longing for his baby girl. He loved holding her-she seemed so calm in his arms and that made him feel something that he had never felt before. He was a father now, a protector to his daughter and Andy knew as he stood in that little hospital room that he would never let any harm come to her.

The couple had agreed that they would take a photo of her hospital bracelet, which had her name and date of birth on it, but baby Arabella would not be an Instagram baby right away. They would, of course, post pictures and small videos of her, but until the Army got used to the idea of there finally being a baby-the couple wanted to keep things private.

As Dess sat there, her phone in her hands, she scanned over Twitter and was surprised at how decent people were being. Most congratulated the couple, saying they couldn’t wait to see pictures of the baby, others were excited or indifferent and of course there were a few people who couldn’t help but be negative.

“The guys are on their way-Kit just picked them up from the airport.” Odessa said, smiling at Ashley as she set her phone down on the table beside her and looked at the bassist. He was holding Arabella like a pro-having adjusted to her slight wiggling and soft sounds. This kid was going to be just like Andy-constantly moving or doing something and never being able to sit still for a minute.

“So how does it feel being a mommy?” Ashley asked as he looked up from the baby in his arms and smirked at Dess. Motherhood seemed to fit the girl-she looked peaceful and happy.

“Great so far. How does it feel being an uncle?” She joked with him and Ashley only smiled at her before looking back down at the baby in his arms. She was sucking on one of his fingers, her tiny lips soft against his skin. How could anything be so wonderful?

“I’m not really her uncle, but I would say pretty awesome.” He laughed and Andy chuckled as he clapped his best friend on the shoulder.

“You are her uncle though man-all of you guys will be her uncles. I mean she’s going to be around you guys her entire life and neither Dess nor I have brothers or sisters at this point…” Andy said and Ashley nodded as he bit down on his lip and looked up at the couple. Andy had moved so that now he was sitting on the side of Dess’ bed and the couple were looking at him with something in their eyes. Uh-oh…

“Speaking of uncles Ash…we wanted to ask you and Kit something…” Andy said and Dess laughed as she wrapped a hand around one of his arms and looked over at the bassist.

“Well I already asked Kit because the two of you are never together and I didn’t know if Andy was going to make it in time…” She said as Dess shoved Andy’s shoulder and he blushed. She would never let him forget the fact that he had almost missed his daughter’s birth and Andy would probably never let himself forget it either.

“I almost don’t want to know…” Ashley smirked as he moved to hand the baby over to Andy. Dess took her instead and she delightfully noticed that Andy was pouting. Arabella had just been born and already he was wanting to constantly to hold her.

“We were wondering if you would be okay with us making you and Kit legal guardians of our kids…should anything happen to Dess or I.” Andy said as he leaned down, pressing his lips to his daughter’s forehead and the baby began to stir. She was probably hungry, but Dess would wait a little longer.

“Uh-are you joking right now?” Ashley was smirking at both of them and Andy only chuckled as he ran a hand through his messy hair and looked down at Dess. She was discreetly trying to feed their daughter and she had the cutest blush going across her nose in that moment.

“No-no we aren’t joking man…” Andy said, his smile sincere and Ashley felt his heart speed up. Him-responsible for this little beauty? He didn’t know what he would do if something ever happened to Dess or Andy and he certainly wasn’t sure what would happen to Arabella if he took care of her.

“I mean I don’t know much about kids…” Ashley stopped as Dess began to laugh and he adverted his eyes as she covered herself and placed the baby over her shoulder. He watched as Dess patted the tiny back softly and there were tiny burping noises coming out of Arabella’s lips.

“Sorry-Kit said the same thing.” Dess was laughing again, finished burping the baby and now Andy was cradling Arabella in his arms tightly.

Ashley had never seen Andy as the fatherly type. Not that he thought Andy would be a bad father-the kid was just always so wired and hyped up…would he be able to sit still long enough for a baby? But over the course of two years, Ashley Purdy had seen a drastic change in his best friend. Andy had grown more patient, kinder and more open to not getting his way. That was largely in part because of Dess and all of the guys knew it. She grounded him-made him see when he was wrong and when he needed to keep his ego in check. Now Andy was holding, rocking and whispering to his daughter softly and Ashley realized that Andrew Biersack was probably going to be the best father around.

But would Ashley be a good father? Sure, he had begun to settle down-finally finding someone worth settling down for and he saw himself married in a few years. But kids? Ashley didn’t know much about kids-he had brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, but he rarely saw them and they were all grown. What would happen if Dess and Andy disappeared from this little ones life and she was still an infant? Would he and Kit be able to come together to give this little angel the life she deserved?

Ashley bit down on his lip as he thought it over and as he looked up, he noticed that Dess was looking at him. Her moss green eyes were so encouraging as she sat there, her tattooed arms folded over her chest as she looked at him and smiled.

“Yeah-I mean how can I deny this little princess anything?”Ashley asked as he peeked over the blanket and saw that Arabella was squinting up at him. He tickled her chin and suddenly she smiled softly. Her little face was all wrinkled and her eyes were closed, but she was definitely smiling at him.

“Well it seems like Arabella likes that idea.” Andy said and the group laughed and made small talk for a while. Dess was growing tired and she was thankful when the door popped open and none other than the rest of the band, plus Kit, were standing on the other side.

“Aww look at this little family!” CC said and then immediately blushed as Kit, Dess and Andy all shushed him and Arabella let out a tiny cry.

Dess watched with a smile on her face as Jake, Jinxx and CC all filed into the room and circled around where Ashley was sitting. Andy was still holding the baby and all of the guys practically melted as they looked down at her. CC reached out a long finger, touching her cheek gently and Andy only smirked as Arabella kicked around and then opened her eyes. They were still gray, but one of the nurses had told him that morning that usually light gray eyes-which is what Arabella had-either turned light blue or light green.

Andy was hoping for light green, like Dess’ but everyone else seemed to be banking on light blue. Andy stood up, Arabella in his arms and he held her up with a smile on his face as his bandmates and brothers all looked over at his baby girl.

“Guys, I would like for you to meet Arabella Rose Biersack.” He said proudly and then all of the guys clapped lowly. Ashley had gotten up and CC had taken his place and Dess couldn’t keep the smile off of her face as the drummer seemed to be shaking in anticipation.

“She’s so tiny dude-like an over sized burrito or something.” CC laughed as Andy placed the baby in his arms and everyone broke out into quiet conversation. Everyone passed the baby around, until finally she ended up in Jinxx’s arms, who was sitting on the edge of the bed beside Dess.

“She’s beautiful Dess…” Jinxx said as he looked up from the baby’s face and over to Dess. The girl looks tired, but pleased and he knew that she was happy to finally have her daughter out in the world. They all were.

“I know…she’s going to be just like Andy…I can just feel it.” The two of them laughed at that and the small group all stayed in that moment until finally it was time for Dess to check out.

They would all be converging on the Biersack household-a summer of writing and relaxing was in store for this group and Dess was looking forward to it all. She would be home and she would have her husband and her baby girl with her. Just as it was always meant to be…

Notes

So finally BVB have all met tiny Arabella. What color do you guys think her eyes are going to be?
