What It Is To Burn

The Reception From Hell

Odessa smiled as she grabbed Andy’s hand and they began to walk down their colorful aisle. People cheered and clapped as they passed-Amy Biersack grabbed Dess around her neck and hugged her quickly while Andy and his father shook hands before they continued down towards the back door of the building in front of them. The two of them would have a few minutes alone to gather their thoughts and be together before the reception.

Odessa squeezed Andy’s hand as they both turned around and took one last look at their alter and their guests. The sun had completely set by this point but there was a soft glow coming from the branches of the tree that had sheltered them. Andy felt his breath catch in his throat as he looked down at his new bride-wife-and saw that the look on her face was one of pure bliss. He bent down, placing a soft kiss against the top of her head before leading her away from the guests who were currently rising to head to the cocktail hour.

They were led into a small room by an elderly looking woman and Dess was thankful for the silence that met her once the door was shut behind them. She moved to the window, looking out at her guests as they all were led to a large tent that would be where their reception was. Andy came up from behind her, wrapping his arms around her waist as he rested his chin on her shoulder and sighed loudly. He felt so at peace with her in that moment and Andy was sorely tempted to pick her up and carry her up the stairs and lock them both in a room.

He looked out the window over her shoulder and smiled as Dess placed her hand against the glass softly, her breath fogging things over as she smiled and turned to him. She moved so that her arms were wrapped around his neck and Andy only smirked down at her as he pressed his lips against hers and felt her melt against him slightly.

“I love you.” His voice was low and Dess looked up at him, their foreheads were still resting together, but once she caught site of his baby blue eyes, Dess felt her heart skip a beat.

“I love you too…I can’t believe this is all happening right now.” She said, laughter in her voice and Andy only smirked down at her as he moved them both over towards the small couch in the room. He sat down, pulling Dess ontop of him and Andy felt like he was drowning in her dress.

“It is…it finally happened. You are mine forever…” Andy whispered in her ear and Dess sighed contently as she leaned back against him. She knew that he was having a hard time with her dress and Dess knew that their time together was coming to an end, but she only wished that she and Andy could disappear for the rest of the night.

“Yeah…don’t push your luck on that one Biersack.” She giggled as Andy sat up slightly and kissed her neck gently.

“Don’t forget that you are now a Biersack…” Andy laughed as he pulled away and looked up as the door began to creak open and he had to try and keep the groan from escaping his lips.

Andy didn’t want to leave the room they were in-it was nice and quiet and he and Dess had been having a fun time laughing and relaxing with one another. Now the room was filling up with people and Andy felt a smirk come to his lips as he noticed that Ashley and Kit were standing very close to one another and they didn’t have their hands wrapped one another’s necks. Sammi and Jinxx were avoiding one another like the plague and Andy felt sad to see the couple that he once rooted for in such a state of anger and dislike.

Dess was still sitting on his lap but now she was talking to her friend Beth and Andy looked over and noticed that there was a photographer setting some things up in the corner. He knew it was time for he and Dess to separate so that they could get pictures taken. Dess sat up straight, her hands resting on her knees and then she looked up to Beth for help. There was no way she was getting up in this dress and tight corset top and so she held her hands out for Beth to take. The small girl smirked down at her, taking her hands as she tugged up and soon Dess was on her feet with Andy getting up and staying behind her.

“Alright guys! My name is Chad and I’ll try to make this as quick as I can so we can get you guys out of here and to the party!” The photographer called out in to the room and everyone became silent as they turned to face the corner where a short man was standing with his camera in his hands.

“Okay, I want to do the big group shots first to get those out of the way and then we’ll do some smaller pairings and then you guys will be all done! Can I get the lovely bride and groom down here front and center please?” Chad asked nicely and Dess moved slowly, holding her dress up slightly so that Andy wouldn’t step on it and trip them both.

The group moved around under Chad’s watchful eye until finally they were all settled. Andy was behind Dess, his arms wrapped around her waist. Ashley was to his left with the rest of the guys beside him, while Kit was to her right with the girls beside her. Everyone smiled softly as the flash went off and Dess saw stars momentarily before looking up at Andy and smiling gently. More flashing and Chad then called out for them to make a funny face.

Dess stuck her tongue out and she noticed that Ashley had his lips pushed out in the perfect duck face. Dess felt Andy’s fingers rub into her sides as he held her close and she rested her head against his chest as Chad switched some lenses and then moved to stand in front of them. Finally the large group shot was over with and Chad called for it to just be her and Andy and Dess felt her heartbeat quicken as Andy moved to stand in front of her and he smiled.

“We meet again my love…” He said and Dess only shook her head as she smiled up at him softly and placed her arms around his neck. Andy’s hands were on her waist and they just moved naturally as Chad snapped photo after photo.

“Just wait until later tonight.” She winked at him and Andy threw his head back as he laughed and Dess felt her own laughter leave her chest.

The two of them posed together, Andy kissed her forehead and Dess had her eyes shut softly for one shot. Another shot was of them kissing, Dess holding her hand against his cheek as Andy cupped the back of her head gently, trying to not mess up her hair. They had some funny moments, including Andy holding Dess up as her legs kicked out in front of her and they laughed and smiled. Everyone else was mingling, enjoying the champagne that someone had brought in and Dess only wished that she could have a drink.

Sadly drinking anything besides water or apple juice seemed to make Dess feel sick to her stomach and she knew she would have to suck it up during the toasting portion of their reception. Dess caught eyes with Kit and she tipped her head towards her best friend as she noticed that Kit and Ash had been rather friendly towards one another the entire time.

“Okay, I’m going to give the bride a break and lets get the gentlemen up here with the groom shall we?” Chad said and Dess sighed happily as she turned towards Andy, kissing him on the mouth quickly before she moved over towards the small couch where Sammi was sitting.

“How ya feeling there tiger?” Kit asked as she passed Dess a champagne flute but Dess only waved her off as she smiled up at her best friend.

“Just water for now-I need to save myself until the toasts come because right now I feel sick just even thinking about drinking anything alcoholic.” Dess said and Kit only pouted as she poured the bubbly liquid in to her own flute and moved over to a small table that held a water pitcher and some glasses.

“The ceremony was so beautiful Dess-I cried almost the entire way through…” Sammi said as she took Dess’ hands in her own and the two blondes smiled at one another. Dess had missed Sammi, but with the musician now living in Germany and Dess was constantly with the guys-it made it hard for the two of them to stay in touch.

“Yeah…You looked like an angel walking down that aisle. Congratulations baby girl…I know you guys are going to be so happy together.” Ella said from behind her and Dess smiled as she felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around her neck and then Sammi moved in for her own hug. The three of them had grown close and while they still were-it was different now that Sammi and Jinxx were no longer together.

“Thanks guys. I’m just glad the hard part’s over with…” Dess said as she took her glass of water from Kit and took a large gulp. Kit said nothing as she just sat down right on Dess’ lap and smirked at her best friend.

“For you…some of us still have to speak on your behalf.” She said and Dess only rolled her eyes as she poked Kit in the arm and cocked an eyebrow at her.

“You better behave yourself…” Dess warned and Kit only stuck her tongue out at her best friend before she noticed that Dess’ focus was no longer on their small group but on Andy.

The guys were all standing together with Andy in the middle and it was obvious that this was not their first photo shoot. This one was a little different as it was for his wedding, so Andy looked slightly less broody, but the guys were still doing their thing. Kit noticed that Ashley looked really good in his three piece suit, a moss green rose in his front pocket as he and Andy posed with one another separately from the rest of the guys. Maybe it was the atmosphere of the wedding or maybe she had just grown tired of hating him but Kit knew that Ashley Purdy wasn’t such the bad guy that she made him out to be.

Sure he was still a cheating asshole, but he had been making her laugh the entire night and Kit was secretly looking forward to getting a slow dance in with him later on that evening. The girls all turned back to one another and Dess sighed loudly, biting down on her lower lip as she rested her head against the back of the couch and looked over to Kit.

“I see someone has their eyes on a pretty Purdy boy…” She teased and Kit said nothing, but she knew that her cheeks were probably bright red at this point.

“Well we are going in to the reception together, so we kind of have to get along…” Kit said as she avoided Dess’ gaze and laughed softly as she felt her best friend poke her in the side once again.

“Yeah and you want to jump his bones…” Beth said as she came over to join their little group and Dess grunted as she felt Beth’s added weight. Both girls were now sitting on her lap and Dess hoped they realized just how much she loved them at this point.

“Whose bones are getting jumped tonight?” A voice asked from behind them and Dess laid her head back against the back of couch and she was now looking up at an upside down Andy. His blue eyes were bright as he looked down at her and Dess smirked against his lips as he bent down to kiss her softly.

“You are obviously…” Kit said, smacking Beth’s arm playfully as all of the girls stood up and then Kit held out her hands for Dess to take. It was obviously their turn to get pictures done and Dess only hoped that it went by quickly-she was getting hungry and cranky all at the same time, which was not a good combo for her.

“You girls are up and then we’re all finished here!” Chad called out to them and Dess rushed over towards where he was set up and the girls all followed behind her, giggling at her urgency.

The girls posed for a few serious shots first with Dess in the middle, Beth and Kit on either side with Sammi beside Kit and Ella next to Beth. Dess smiled of course-it was her wedding day and she was one step closer to getting this monster of a dress off and relaxing with Andy. As they moved around and made funny faces, Dess thought over their plans for the next few days and she couldn’t help but smirk. The next day she and Andy would be jetting off to Fiji for a whole week of just them and room service.

Then it was back home to pack, then flying out to LA to meet the guys for the Monster Outbreak Tour with Bullet For My Valentine. Then a few weeks off and they would be heading over to Europe to finish out The Church of The Wild Ones Tour. It was exhausting, but Dess was looking forward to moving around once again. She loved being at home, but sometimes home life got a little too easy and comfortable.

“Alright, how about the Bride and her Maid of Honor?” Chad suggested and the other girls smiled as they moved away from the center of the room and headed over towards the couch where the guys were congregated.

“I really think you should give Ash another chance Kit-he’s changed a lot since last year…” Dess said as she and Kit posed with their arms around one another’s shoulders and they both smiled brightly as a flash went off in their faces.

Dess…” Kit warned and Dess only laughed as Kit moved to stand behind her and they posed in what would be seen as a classic prom pose.

“Come on Kit-I know you have feelings for him, why can’t the two of you get that through your thick skulls?” Dess asked as she smiled at the photographer and noticed that he had thankfully begun to put his equipment away.

“Just shut up and let’s go to your damn reception!” Kit laughed as she wrapped an arm around Dess’ shoulder and the two girls moved off to join the rest of the group.

It had been crazy and as Dess watched the couples get lined up-Sammi with CC instead of Jinxx-she knew it was only going to get crazier as they made their way to the reception tent.

Andy laughed as the music for their reception entrance started up and he looked down at Dess, who only smirked back up at him and began to dance in place. The wedding party had yet to enter the tent, but by the sounds of things people were already living it up and Andy couldn’t wait to get things started for himself and Dess. The Monster Mash was playing as the DJ announced each couple and first up was Sammi and CC. Andy was grateful to Dess for being willing to screw up her plans so that Jinxx and Beth would enter together and CC and Sammi would be together-it would just make for a smoother night overall.

Next up was Jake and Ella and Andy laughed as they both walked in slowly, stumbling around like the zombies that they were trying to portray. He watched as the last couple entered through the flap in the tent and he smiled as Kit and Ashley goofed around, walking with their arms held straight out like mummies. They were up next and Dess smiled up at Andy as she squeezed his hand and he moved to hold out the tent flap for her.

“Ladies and gentlemen-ghouls and guys…I give you your Bride and Gloom for the evening Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Biersack!” The DJ called out and Dess smiled as she entered the tent and her breath caught in her throat.

The room was dark and gloomy looking with dimly lit chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and even those had spider webs draping from the very ends. Each table had their guests sitting at them and Dess smiled as she passed by the Frankenstein table and noticed the lightning bolts and test tubes that were sticking out of her center pieces. Andy looked like he was about to pass out from all of the excitement and Dess couldn’t wait for him to see their couples table.

The Monster Mash came to an end just as they walked up to their table and Dess felt Andy stop dead in his tracks and with one look up at him she could hardly hold in her laughter. His eyes, those bright blue eyes that she loved, were opened wide with his mouth hanging open almost just as wide. Their couple’s table was right in front of them and obviously by his reaction Dess could tell that he loved it.

The table cloth was a deep midnight blue with a bright yellow runner, but it was their center piece that seemed to be the show stopper. Bombs with sparklers lit at the ends, a huge hammer with a black and red theme and the flowers that were spilling out from the middle where a bright acid green, funky orange, deep red and black. The Joker and Harley Quinn-the best villain and his one true love were the center piece of their table and Dess tugged on Andy’s hand as she pulled them both towards their seats.

Andy remained in shock as he sat down and reached out a hand to touch some of the items that were on top of their table. He felt his heart swell as he realized that Dess had done this for him-every other table was movie monster themed and while she had refused to give him a Batman themed wedding, he knew that she had done this table with him in mind. He leaned over, placing a soft kiss against the side of her head and Dess only smirked over at him as a waiter came by and asked them what they would like to drink.

“I’ll have a Jack and Coke. Babe?” Andy asked, his fingers playing with her wedding ring as he held her hand and Dess only smiled as she looked up at the young waiter and spoke softly.

“I’ll just have water, thank you so much.” She said as she looked over at Andy and noticed that he was looking at her strangely. The dim light in the room was giving her chills and Dess ran a hand up and down her arms as she looked around and found the table where her wedding party was seated. Freddie Krueger-how fitting for them all.

“You feeling okay Dess? Don’t you want some champagne to celebrate?” Andy asked, his hand griping hers tightly and Dess only smiled at him as she looked around the room. There was a fog hanging over them all, it was coming from the DJ booth which had a small machine underneath it to add to the effect. Everyone seemed to be having such a good time and Dess only smiled more widely as she looked back towards her husband.

“I feel fine. I’m saving the champagne for the toasts-alcohol or really anything besides water hasn’t been agreeing with me lately.” She said and smiled as a tall glass of water was placed in front of her and Dess drank from it greedily. She had been so thirsty lately and if she had to take a guess she would estimate drinking almost a gallon a day. Of course that made her have to pee constantly, which was fine when she was at home, but she learned earlier that day that peeing in a huge dress was no easy task.

“Shall we walk around to some tables and say hi to people?” Andy asked and Dess only nodded as she finished off her water and moved to stand up. Andy helped her, placing one hand on her back while his other gripped his drink.

The two of them walked arm and arm around the room and Andy found himself in awe at everything that Dess had done. Every table had a bowl of candy-each table had different candy and she explained that while they were taking pictures, their guests were trick-or-treating to different tables to try and find their seat number. The seat numbers were placed on small bags that had been hanging by the door and as they trick-or-treated around the room that caused people to mingle and talk instead of just finding their seat and sitting down.

There was a dance floor off to the left where the DJ was and a few people were cutting a rug to some pop song that was playing. Andy was drooling as they passed by the food bars on their way to where his parents and Dess’ mom and aunt were seated at the Witches table. Andy smirked as they approached and he wondered if Dess had assigned her mother this table on purpose.

“You both look so wonderful. I can’t believe I finally have you as a daughter-in-law!” Amy smiled at them as they approached and Dess smiled softly in return as she took her mother-in-law in to a hug and she knew that the older woman was crying once again.

“Odessa I am so proud of you.” A voice said from behind her and as Dess turned she felt her heart stop. Her mother was standing there in front of her, her brown hair pulled back from her face but she looked happy to be there and she looked happy to see Dess in that moment.

“H-hi mom.” Dess said, unsure of what to say or do, but that was quickly solved by Andy, who placed his hands against her back and gently pushed her forward. Rose Montgomery took her only remaining child into her arms and hugged her as tightly as possible.

The two women embraced for a few minutes while Andy spoke with his father and a few other people that were seated at their table. He looked over, smiling as he noticed that Rose and Dess had finished their hug, but now the older woman had her hands on Dess’ cheeks and she was gently swiping her fingers underneath her daughter’s eyes. Dess was nodding her head and it looked like she wanted to start crying once again, but Andy knew that she would hold it together the best that she could. He watched as Dess mouthed a soft ‘I love you’, hugging her mother one last time before she was back at his side.

His father reached out, taking his new daughter-in-law into his arms and Andy watched as the two of them interacted. His two favorite people in the world had obviously bonded and Andy was happy to see Dess being embraced by his family. Finally they had to move on, walking to more tables as they were being congratulated and thanked for hosting such a fantastic party. Andy took no credit-he was told when and where to show up and he did as he was told.

This party was all Odessa and Andy loved every single aspect of it. He felt his stomach grumble and after an hour and a half of walking around it was finally time for them to get some food. As the wedded couple, they thankfully got to jump ahead in line and Andy watched with childish glee as Dess loaded up her plate with Mac and Cheese, chicken, sushi and two rolls. She had been eating much better and Andy had noticed that she had begun to gain some weight back.

He loved Dess no matter what, but he always loved her for having some meat on her bones instead of being a walking stick. The couple sat down and both entered a state of content silence as they both ate and watched as their guests got their own food. Dess nearly choked as she looked over towards her wedding party and saw something she never thought she would see in a million years.

Ashley Purdy was feeding Katrina Evans a bite of food and both of them were smiling.

“I don’t know what the fuck is going on…but I think I just witnessed a miracle.” Dess said as she elbowed Andy and nodded her head over towards Kit and Ash.

“Wha?” Andy asked, following her gaze and there was a loud clatter as his fork fell from his hands and landed against the porcelain plate on the table in front of him.

“Close your mouth babe…” Dess laughed as she kissed Andy on the cheek and took a sip of her water. She felt full, sickly full and as Dess rubbed her stomach she noticed that it was sticking out slightly and she smirked. She had become such a pig lately it was a wonder she was able to fit in to her wedding dress.

“Can you believe this right now?” Andy asked as he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled Dess close until she was pressed up against him. She sighed, resting her head against his shoulder and she shivered as she felt his fingers brushing against the bare skin of her shoulders and arms.

“I can-it’s been a long time coming and I’m happy to see it happen.” Dess smirked up at him, placing a hand against his cheek as she brought his face down towards hers until their lips met.

As they sat there and kissed underneath the dimly lit chandeliers and spider webs, Andy knew that this had been the best day of his life. He couldn’t imagine how things could get any better, but that made him worry. Did that mean that things would only go downhill from here?

@Broken Wing
Here's my problem, though. As I am starting the final series, I won't be able to go to my regular computer because it's broken, and I can't view certain chapters on my iPad. So now my mom knows why I'm suddenly in a bitchy mood. :/
