What It Is To Burn

Vows Of Love, Promises Of Eternity

Odessa felt more tears welling in her eyes as Andy lifted her veil and let it fall gently down to cover the back of her hair. He looked so handsome standing before her-his blue eyes were shining with his tears and he smirked softly at her, mouthing a silent ‘Hi’ before clearing his throat. Dess felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest as she stood there and she smirked as she looked down at the white Camellia flower that he held in his hands. She held her own and the two of them stood there smiling at one another like idiots as Jinxx finished up playing and soon everyone in attendance sat down.

She looked out, her veil blocking her view slightly and Dess smiled softly as she noticed her mother and great aunt sitting there in the front row. There were others there-Kellin, Justin and Jack from Sleeping were sitting three rows back on her side along with Bert and Quinn from the Used. Andy’s side had a few people that she could see, Matt Good from D.R.U.G.S, Danny from Asking Alexandria and Sebastian Bach. Dess smiled softly at them all as she turned back towards Andy and saw that he had stopped crying-for now.

“Welcome everyone. I am here today to join Odessa Annemarie Montgomery and Andrew Dennis Biersack in their marriage to one another. Odessa and Andy are both holding the Camellia flower, which I have been told is to represent them handing over their destinies to one another.” The small woman spoke and Dess nodded as she moved towards Andy and placed her flower in his jacket pocket along with his orange rose. Andy quickly placed his own flower behind her right ear and Dess felt a blush creep across the bridge of her nose.

“Now, I would like to read a personal favorite quote of mine before we get started and while this is a non religious ceremony-this says a lot about any marriage so just hear me out…” The woman smiled at the couple and both Andy and Dess only nodded as they reached their hands out and soon their hands were joined together as they listened.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” Dess felt the tears come to her eyes as she looked at Andy and noticed that he had the biggest smile on his face.

He had always believed in their love-even when she doubted and hemmed and hawed over little things. Andy had always been there for her with kind words and advice, even when she didn’t want it or need it. Dess had fought him for a long time-not wanting to give her heart away to someone in the fear of losing them in the long run. She had come to realize though that death was a part of life and of love and that sometimes losing someone made you love them even more than you had ever thought possible.

Andy was also nothing but supportive of her and he often encouraged her to find her niche in life, whether it was in comics, t-shirts or cooking-he always wanted her to be happy and to be herself. They lived a very private life and didn’t often allow people in to see how they were as a couple. Sure-they both posted selfies together on various medias, but they were proud of their love and how far they had come. Together the two of them made the perfect couple-they were always there for one another and no matter the ups or the downs, they had grown in their love and they were better for it.

Andy listened to the words that were being spoken to he and Dess and he could only barely fight off the fresh tears that came to his eyes as he thought about their relationship as a whole. Dess was always so patient with him-especially when he shut her out during the writing process for their most recent album. She had left him alone and while there were bumpy areas to their relationship, for the most part they were always there for one another.

Dess kept him grounded and when he got a little full of himself, she had no problem cutting him down to size. Looking at her now, seeing her fuller looking face and bright smile-Andy knew that everything would be okay. Dess had gotten scary thin over the summer and Andy was happy to see her eating so well these days. She said she felt fine and Andy trusted her and he knew that no matter what-their love could get them through anything.

They stood there staring at one another as the justice of the peace spoke, but both Dess and Andy knew that neither one was paying attention. The wind was drifting softly past them, making the skirt of her dress ruffle and Andy felt his hair being pushed into his eyes slightly. They never took their eyes off of one another as things around them occurred. She could faintly hear the rushing water of the Potomac beside them and Andy noticed that the sun had all but gone down and the only light was coming from the ten chandeliers that were hanging from the tree above them. Suddenly they both jumped as they felt their hands being tied together and Dess looked down and smiled.

The woman before them had gently tied their hands together-they were now bound by a single white ribbon and Andy could only smile softly as he looked at the beautiful woman across from him. Her moss green eyes were framed by her bangs, her eye lashes long and soft looking as they graced her cheeks every time she blinked to try and keep her tears at bay. Dess noticed him looking at her and she couldn’t help but feel lost as his baby blue eyes made her feel like she was the only girl in the entire world.

“I have bound the two of you in a simple promise to one another-that you will love, honor and obey and may you forever be bound by that promise.” The woman spoke as she gently moved to untie the ribbon and folded it before handing it to Dess.

“It has been the choice of our Bride and Groom to speak their own vows, so I will step back and allow them to speak to one another-making their own promises for their new life together.” Dess smiled as the small woman took a step back.

Everything grew silent as Andy looked to Dess and saw her smiling softly at him in return. He knew that she had wanted them to write their own vows and while he loved the sound of his own voice, Andy had had a really rough time trying to come up with the words to express how he truly felt. How could he possibly talk about his love for this brave and wonderful woman without keeping them there all night? He loved everything about her and he knew that there was no way he could express that love without bursting in to tears. He had never cried this much in his life, but standing there in front of Dess-Andy could care less how much he was crying.

Looking at her-seeing her standing there in her white dress with her white veil floating around her like angel wings…how was he even breathing right now? Andy felt relieved as Dess rooted around in her bra and then seemed to remove a very tiny piece of paper from within. He laughed as he was reminded of the time when they first met and he watched her pull her phone out in almost the same way.

Nothing changed with Dess and for that Andy was eternally grateful and as she smiled at him and began to speak, Andy felt his heart stop as he listened to her sincere and loving words.

“When I was a little girl one of the first things I ever remember asking Santa Claus for Christmas was true love. Back then I thought that was this kid in my class named Bobby-but when he tried to kiss me under the monkey bars I knew it wasn’t going to work out…” Dess began and there was soft laughter as she smiled and tried to straighten out the paper in her hands.

“I watched my parents fall in love every year on Valentine’s Day and I knew that I wanted a love like theirs. My father was always able to make my mother laugh, even when she was furious with him and could hardly stand to be around him. My mother spent much of her life taking care of my father and I know she was there with him until his dying day.” Dess stopped, her tears flowing as she looked down towards her mother and noticed that she too had tears streaming down her face.

“…My father is no longer with us, but I know he’s up there with my little sister, watching me marry the man of my dreams. Fast forward to my being fifteen and thinking that I knew everything-I still don’t-and sitting on the roof of our house…sorry mom. I was in love with the new album by my favorite band and I still remember how it felt to sit up there, listing to phrases such as ‘I’m melting in your eyes, like my first time’ and ‘seem to stop my breath, my head on your chest waiting to cave in’. I knew that those words were expressing a love that I had yet to experience myself, but I wanted to so badly.” She smirked as she looked out over the crowd and caught Bert’s eye.

“When I lost my father I never thought I could love-I lost myself when I lost him…my biggest supporter. I drifted for a long time, until finally I drifted right into the man of my dreams and I mean I literally bumped right in to him.” They both laughed and Andy stayed silent as he reached out a hand and rested it against her cheek.

“Andy-you are my everything and without you I don’t think I would even be here. You encouraged me to find myself again and slowly but surely I have. We spent a long time as friends and I grew to love you slowly, but as I stand here before you today I am so happy that I allowed you to enter my heart. You-“ Dess had to stop as her thoughts became jumbled in her heard and she took in a few deep breaths. Andy only stood there, his hand still against her cheek and as their eyes connected Dess felt her thoughts come back to her.

“You have helped me become stronger. When we lost Moira-I sank so far down into my despair that I almost drowned in it. You were my life preserver for a long time and I don’t know how I could ever repay you for that. We have been through so much-so much stress and arguments and yet at the end of the day I find myself falling more and more in love with you.” She stopped, smiling as Andy smirked at her softly and nodded for her to continue.

“You have surprised me every day of our life together and I can’t wait to see what surprises you have in store for our future. I will always be with you-through the good times, the bad times-those times when your fans are a little less than adoring. I will be there to knock your ego down a size, but I will also be there to build you up. I want to give you everything in life that I can and even try to give you things that may seem impossible.” Dess felt her tears running down her cheeks as she thought of the past summer and all of her sickness. She had been feeling better for the past few weeks, but her sickness had come and gone easily over the summer.

“I love you. I think I have always loved you-even from the first time I ever heard you sing there was something in me telling me that you were the one. I promise to love and honor you-maybe not obey you all the time, but I will always tell you the truth and seek you out when I need advice or guidance. With this ring that I am now placing on your finger-I am giving you everything that I can and the promise that there is so much more to come for us. I love you-I will always love you.” Dess said through her tears as she took the black gold and silver ring from the tiny box Ashley was holding out to her and gently she slipped it on to Andy’s left ring finger. He only smiled at her and he was finding it near impossible to not lean forward and kiss her softly.

Andy took in a deep breath and looked down at the girl of his dreams. Her pale skin was glowing softly under the light coming from above them and she only smiled up at him as he tried to collect his thoughts. What she had said had been beautiful and meant the world to him-it was so Dess to be able to express herself in that way. Andy knew he could express himself through song, so when he sat down to write his vows two nights ago-procrastination for the win-he knew he would have to approach his words and his feelings in a different way.

He removed his hand from her cheek in that moment, but instead he felt her grab for his, squeezing his fingers gently as if to say, ‘take your time-I’ll wait for you forever’ and Andy knew in that moment that everything was perfect. He cleared his throat and then began to speak through the tears that were still falling gently down his cheeks.

“Hi everyone-woo…okay. Hi babe…” Andy said nervously as he looked from Dess and then out towards the crowd before looking back. He had never been this nervous in his life and he felt the courage well within his soul as those moss green eyes looked up at him with as much encouragement and love as Dess could muster.

“When I was a kid my only focus was to be a rock star. After having so many things happen to me in my life I was thankfully able to make that dream come true. My parents, Amy and Chris, were always behind me 100% and they knew that my passion would fuel my dreams until finally those dreams would come true.” Andy stopped as he looked down at his parents and smirked as his father gave him a thumbs up and his mother was only sitting there crying softly to herself.

“I worked hard and saw my dreams-now the dreams of four other guys who I love-come true and we have been working hard ever since. I was so focused on those dreams that I could hardly even notice what was missing in my life. Until one July day when Ashley sent me out to our merch tent to check on things. I didn’t want to go-it was hot and humid and I had already been mobbed by our fans once that summer…” He stopped again as everyone laughed and Dess only smirked up at him, shaking her head softly as he continued.

“I am so glad that he made me go. As I was standing there I noticed a girl who looked completely out of place and as fate would have it she chose our tent to take shelter under from the crowds and the heat. Looking down at her I saw that she had the same love for something as me and I felt in my bones that I had to talk to her. That was over two years ago and while things have been rocky and bumpy, I don’t ever regret starting that conversation with you babe.” Andy stopped as he sniffed loudly to try and get his tears under control. Dess was crying softly, her face covered in shining tears and Andy desperately wanted to reach out and wipe them away.

“I had to fight for you Dess, but that’s okay because it made it all worth it in the end-we have grown so much stronger from that and I know we were meant to be best friends first because we trust one another. I was with you the day that you lost someone so precious to you and while I still wish I could turn back the clock and change her fate, I know that things are often meant to be. She would be so proud of you right now babe-I know I am.” Dess smiled at him and Andy took in a deep breath as he tried to wrap things up.

“We have been through so much and I know that it’s only the beginning. I promise to love and honor you-obey you in certain matters because I do believe you are much wiser than I am. I also promise to keep surprising you for the rest of my days because I love seeing that shocked look on your face when something does happen. Mostly I just promise to always be there for you-support you in the best ways I know how and to love you for eternity. I said something to you when we first became friends-that I loved you more than I could ever scream. I meant that-I will always mean it Odessa because you are my dream. You are my dream for the present and the future and in this very moment I don’t ever want to wake up…I want to stay in this dream with you…forever and always.” Andy finished with a deep smile and Dess could only give him a watery one in return as she looked down at their hands.

Andy was shaking as he took the small ring from Ashley and Dess only smiled as she held her hand out for him. Her tiny hand was palm side down against his own and as Andy looked down at the black gold and silver band in his fingers he thought over everything that it represented. Circles were infinite-they never ended and they were never broken. Their love for one another was somewhat the same-he had loved this girl probably since the very first time he held her hand and although they both would never admit it because who would ever believe in such a thing as love at first sight?

Their love had been electric and as he slipped the band on to her left ring finger, Andy felt a shock running through his body that could only be explained by their eternal love for one another. As he slipped the ring fully on to her tiny finger, Andy brought his lips down and grazed them over the cool flesh of her hand and as he stood up straight Dess was looking up at him with watery eyes.

‘I love you…’ she mouthed at him and Andy blushed as he smiled at her, his blue eyes shining in the soft light.

‘I love you too.’ he mouthed back and soon they were both smirking at one another like idiots once again.

“Alright well does anyone have any objections to the union of Odessa and Andrew?” The woman asked and in a hilarious moment both Andy and Dess turned to look behind them. Dess shot Kit a death glare, receiving crossed eyes and a stuck out tongue in return while Andy turned to glare at Ashley, getting a ‘what? Me?’ look before the two turned back to face one another with smiles on their faces.

“Good. By the power invested in me by the Commonwealth of Virginia-I now pronounce you man and wife…you may kiss your bride!” The small justice said loudly and there was a huge cheer that came over the crowd as Andy took Dess into his arms and pressed his lips against hers.

As they kissed, Dess felt something falling against her cheeks softly and as she pulled away from Andy, she looked up and her breath caught in her throat. All of the remaining leaves that were on the tree above them were falling down like soft snow. Dess knew in that moment as she looked from the branches to Andy-that Moira was there with them. Andy rested his forehead against hers, smirking down at his new wife and he felt like nothing could stop him in that moment. It had taken them a long time to get to this point, but they were here and now it was time to rejoice in their union and hopefully move on from their lives.

They had gone through a lot-seperation, love, death, sickness and misery, but through it all Odessa Montgomery-Berisack and Andrew Biersack were meant for one another and finally after two years they would forever be linked…until their dying days.

@Broken Wing
Here's my problem, though. As I am starting the final series, I won't be able to go to my regular computer because it's broken, and I can't view certain chapters on my iPad. So now my mom knows why I'm suddenly in a bitchy mood. :/
