New School, New Life

Haley had just entered the cafeteria when Andy and Ashley caught up to her. "Come along Hail," Andy said, pulling Haley over to the food. As he handed her a tray Ashley came to stand behind her, grabbing his own food and trying to put food on her tray as well.

Not wanting to deal with nosy people, Haley grabbed a small bowl of fruit and granola as well as a cup of coffee. She was then led to a table where three other guys were already eating. "Guys, this is Haley, Haley this is Jake, CC and Jinxx," each guy nodded at the mention of his name before returning to their food.

"Is that all you're seriously going to eat?" Jinxx asked as he looked at her tray.

"For breakfast, yes," Haley responded as she began eating the fruit, "Do you have time to eat all that before classes start?" she asked as she pointed to the amount of food on his tray. In response to her question all the guys just laughed. Silently, Haley returned to eating her food, just as the head of her house walked up to the table and began handing everyone their time-tables.

The woman, who insisted everyone call her Madam Red, struck Haley as the type of woman who would be a cruel teacher if she felt you weren't interested in her class. As Haley tried to look over her classes, the sheet of paper was pulled from her hands by Andy so that everyone at the table could compare schedules. It tuns out Haley as at least one class with each of the guys. That thought made her both somewhat comfortable and somewhat scared. Her thoughts began to wander down a dark path as she was overcome with the thought that the guys would all grow bored with her and she would be on her own again.

Haley quietly grabbed her time table and threw her food away, before heading off to her first class. Luckily it was fairly easy to find and she sat in a seat by the window, waiting for the rest of the students to show up. This class was taught by a woman named Mrs. Nadroir, and Haley could tell that this woman had already decided that Haley was not a student she wanted to teach.

It was made clear when, after Haley sat down, the woman simply glared at her and pointed to the black board. Written on it were instructions for the first big assignment, it explained why there was a plain envelop on her desk as well.

The assignment was to use the random items in the envelop as inspiration for a ten page paper that would be due the day of Halloween. Silently, Haley began working on it, finding out that her items were a picture of snow capped mountains, a picture of a mummified corpse, the to be or not to be monologue from Hamlet, and a picture of a large log cabin. Instantly Haley had some ideas for a story that was reminiscent of both Psycho and The Shining.

During that class Haley had also met back up with the ass from before, and he seemed determined to make her life miserable for telling him off the way she did. And it seemed that Mrs. Nadroir was more than happy to ignore the bully in favor of helping other students with ideas for the assignment.

Later in orchestra she was taunted by some of the violinists. Hearing them state that the harp was kept in the back because no one who played was attractive hurt, and had her considering skipping lunch. But Jinxx who was on piano at the time called them out, telling them that they should try out for harp so that the statement would no longer be true. And when the girls all failed miserably at playing the simplest of songs they spent the rest of the class ignoring Haley all together. An occurrence that had her sending Jinxx a grateful smile.

The conductor/instructor smirked at how Jinxx handled the situation, telling the entire class not to underestimate the challenge of other instruments just because you are proficient at a few of the others.

At lunch, Jinxx and CC had great pleasure in telling the other guys about what happened before Andy and Ashley chose to tell about Haley's interaction from before breakfast. "Hail, I think it is safe to say that we are keeping you forever," Jinxx said as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her against his side for a moment. He let go with a laugh at the look on Andy's face, leaving Haley more than a little confused.

bah! I meant to spend this weekend writing and posting chapters for all my stories. But I got distracted and now it's monday morning and all i have is small bits for each and thoughts for a bunch of new stories.
