New School, New Life
Long ride
Amy and Haley climbed into the truck, putting their bags into the open space between them and prepared themselves for a long ride to their new school. "So girls, where shall we stop to eat? Burger King, Mac Donalds, Wendy's, somewhere else?" their dad asked as he pulled out of the suburb they lived in and onto the highway.
"You mean Mic Dick's," Haley whispered as her sister suggested Mac Donald's.
"Mac Donald's good with you Hail?" he asked, looking to Haley for a quick moment before he returned his attention to the road ahead.
"Sounds fine," she answered before turning on her ipod and listening to 'Scars' by Papa roach. Quietly she sang along until she saw that they were pulling into the parking lot of the previously mentioned fast food joint. She turned down the volume just in time to hear her dad say that they would be hitting the drive thru and not going in.
'Thank god for small favors,' Haley thought to herself as she spotted the car belonging to one of the biggest bullies at the school she was no longer going to. "I'll have a large fry and a large sprite," she said.
"You sure that's all you want?"
"Yep."
"I'll have a grilled chicken salad, no dressing and a large sweet tea," Amy ordered.
"You girls make me feel like a pig," their dad teased before placing the order, adding a double big mac and a coke for himself.
After eating her food, Haley leaned back and shut her eyes, letting the music she was listening to take her away for a few hours. Before she knew it she looked out the window and saw, for the first time, the school that would become her home for the next few months.
'Wow,' she thought to herself as her sister joyously said "Finally, it was taking forever to get here!"
As the pair stepped out of the truck and began removing their bags, the grand doors opened and two adults stepped out. First they approached the twins father, introducing themselves as the head-mistress and deputy head-master, before turning their attention to the girls.
"Welcome to our school, as you have chosen to get here by your own means you did miss the grand feast in the cafeteria but we shall have someone from the houses come down and lead you to your new rooms," the woman said warmly. "Oh and don't you two look cute in the uniforms, I really must say I love how you have made them your own," she drawled, taking in the way the two had accessorized their uniforms.
