New School, New Life

Haley was staring happily at the letter in her hands, she had been accepted into the all arts boarding school in the mountains just outside the city, on a full ride scholarship as well. Silently she walked into the living room and turned to her parents, excitement filling her eyes as she showed them.

"Oh, Haley that's wonderful," her mother cooed as she stood to hug her daughter, "maybe this is what you need to draw you out of your shell."

Haley fought the urge to roll her eyes at her mother, of course the woman would add to the statement, turning a little praise into something a little more insulting. "Amy got in as well," Haley said as her sister danced into the room.

"I did what now?" Amy asked before she was pulled into a tight embrace by her mother.

"Oh, this is just so exciting. My little girls got into one of the most prestigious art schools in the country on a full ride scholarship," their father said, his chest swelling with pride.

Five days later the girls were in their shared room, packing their things and looking over the uniforms they would be wearing in classes. "Oh, I'm just so happy I get the uniform with a pink dress," Amy sighed as she danced around the room, gathering her jewelry and make up.

Haley smiled softly at her sister's behaviour and silently packed her own bag, making sure that her notebooks and folders wouldn't get damaged during travel. She was reading the acceptance letter to see what, if anything, was not allowed to be brought into the school before she shut her bag and set it by the door.

"Need a hand?" she asked Amy as she watched her sister struggle to get the contents of the bag neat enough so that it all fit in the allotted two bags per student.

"Yes please," Amy replied thankfully, watching as Haley began taking everything out of one bag and refolded the clothing before it was carefully put back in. Skirts and pants to one side, and shirts and dresses to the other, leaving a gap in the middle for shoes and a jewelry box.

"Oh my god I love you right now," Amy squealed as she copied what Haley had done for the second bag. "Serriously. Best. Sister. Ever," she said pulling Haley into a bone crushing hug.

"Girls, it's time to go," their father called up the stairs causing the two girls to pull apart, each with a smile spreading across their lips.
