A Demonic Love

Chinese Food And A Proposal

Andy felt like his heart was going to beat right out of his chest as he entered the booth and looked around him. He was in a very small room that only held a chair, a small table and a huge contraption that held a microphone on the end of it. He watched as the guy in the sound booth motioned for him to put on the headphones and Andy did as he was instructed. The headphones were tight on his ears, pressing his long hair against his face and Andy cleared his throat as he stepped up to the mic and listened as the music began to play in his ears.

They had been home for two weeks and finally today was the first day that he would be in the studio. Jake, Jinxx, CC and Ashley had all finished their studio work earlier in the week and now it was time for Andy to make or break this record. He was excited, but he was also incredibly nervous-he had never done something like this before, what if he fucked it up? Andy cleared his throat as a familiar sounding guitar riff met his ears and he opened his mouth and screamed for all he was worth.

Awake at night you focus
On everyone who's hurt you,
Then write a list of targets,
Your violence lack of virtue.

Leave us alone!
You're on your own!
Rrrraaa-Go!

Andy shouted in to the mic in front of him, his face growing red as he growled and he felt like he couldn’t catch his breath. He finished the song and then reached for the bottle of water that was sitting on the table. As the sound guy played with some things to see if they needed to do more takes, Andy glanced through the glass of the booth and saw that Lily was sitting on a long couch in the corner, her eyes on her phone and her brows were furrowed. Was something wrong?

Andy wanted to leave the booth and go to her, but soon the voice of the sound guy came over his headphones and Andy prepared himself for take two. He knew this was going to be a long process-CC and Jake had warned him that it was going to take at least a week to get things to a good place, but Andy was impatient. He wanted to get this record done so he could get out there amongst his fans-he wanted his words to be available for them to hear whenever they needed him.

Andy had encountered so many kids over their month of touring-all of them thanking him and the guys for being there when they were needed the most. They had released a small EP with three songs on it-Knives and Pens, Carolyn and We Stitch These Wounds and apparently kids were flocking towards it. It made him happy to know that he had impacted lives in such a positive way-he was so used to making people miserable that at first Andy didn’t know how to take his new found savior status. Lily always told him he was destined to do great things and that she would be there right by his side.

He wanted to get her in on one of their songs, but she just laughed him off and refused-saying that this was their first record and it just needed to be him and the guys. Finally after nine takes the first song was done-Perfect Weapon. Andy loved this song and he and the guys were excited because it would be the song that they would make their first video for. That was coming soon after Halloween, which was the very next day and Andy couldn’t wait.

Lily had told him all about Halloween and the other’s agreed that it was the best holiday. He and Ash just took their words for it as they had never experienced Halloween or anything like it when they were Demonlings. Lily had picked out a costume for him, but she refused to tell him what it was. It was strange-she and Ashley seemed to be getting on rather well and Andy was wondering what exactly had happened that night backstage when Ash had locked them all out and was alone with Lily.

Andy could remember being terrified as he banged his fists against the door, scared of what he would find when he finally was able to enter the room. What he had found was weird-Lily sitting on the couch calmly and Ashley staring at him from the doorway with bloodshot eyes and sniffing tears away. Andy only smirked as he removed his headphones and went to leave the booth-they had been at this all day and he was tired. According to their producer they had three finished tracks, but there were still more that needed to be worked on. That was for the day after tomorrow-tomorrow being Halloween and Lily and Andy had plans with the rest of the guys.

“Done for the day babe?” Lily asked as Andy left the sound booth and noticed that she had risen from her spot on the couch and was smiling at him gently. Her phone was in her hands and he knew she had probably been on twitter-her new obsession.

“Yeah-I’ll see you tomorrow Richie!” Andy called over his shoulder to their producer and he smiled down at her as he wrapped an arm around Lily’s shoulders.

The two of them walked through the empty halls of the recording studio and Lily only smiled as Andy seemed to be zoning in and out as they walked. It had been a long day for him-he had to be in the studio at eight in the morning and then it had been nonstop recording until now. Lily looked down at her phone and her eyes grew wide as she noticed that it was almost five in the afternoon. She couldn’t keep the smirk from her face though-she and Andy would finally be alone in the apartment and she thought that perhaps tonight would be the night for them.

They had gotten close so many times, but either interruptions from others or the time not being right had kept them apart. Not tonight and as the two of them hit the street and walked down towards their favorite Chinese place-Lily felt it in her bones that something big was about to happen.

“You hungry babe?” Lily asked as she steered them both towards the take out place and Andy only grunted. His eyes were glued to his own phone and Lily could only smile-he had become addicted to Instagram and was constantly posting and liking things on there.

“I-uh-yeah. Do you want to get takeout?” Andy asked and then laughed as he looked up and noticed that they were standing outside of their favorite takeout place.

“Already way ahead of you…” Lily laughed as she entered the small establishment and walked up to the counter.

She placed their order, making sure to order extra Lo Mein for Andy as he was always hungry these days. The two of them sat down at a nearby table, smiling at one another as Andy reached across the table and grabbed for her hand. He looked down, noticing the many rings that were on her fingers and he smiled gently. He had been thinking about things a lot these days and he had been talking to Jake about what step would come next in his relationship with Lily. Sex-of course was the next small step, but after that Andy had learned that most people who loved one another got married.

Of course Andy had no idea what being married meant and so Jake had to explain that to him as well. Andy liked the idea of being with someone forever-even though humans had no inkling as to what forever really meant, but Andy liked the idea all the same. He looked over at Lily and smiled, she was sitting there blowing her bangs out her face and watching with a childlike glee as they fell back down to cover her eyes.

“So when do you want to get married?” Andy asked and Lily stopped her blowing and looked at him with wide eyes. Did he just ask her what she thought he just asked her?

“I uh-what?” Lily said, her tone confused and Andy only groaned as he rested his head on his arms as they laid on the table. He was tired and not in the mood for Lily to go on a rant about having to explain things to him for the hundredth time.

“Married-when do you want to get married…” His voice was muffled by his arms and Lily only sat back in her chair as she stared at him. Was he fucking on something right now?

“I-um-never Andy…I don’t ever want to get married.” She said, her voice soft and Andy only raised his head to look at her. She was completely serious in that moment-Andy could tell by the tightness of her jaw and her crossed arms.

“Why not? Isn’t that what girls do?” Andy asked and Lily only snorted as she looked up and saw that their food was being handed over to them. She grabbed for the brown paper bag and then stood, not bothering to wait for Andy to follow her.

Was he being serious right now with the male pig headed thing he had going on? Lily marched out of the Chinese place and her feet hit the pavement hard as she took a left and headed down the sidewalk towards their apartment building. Andy was behind her, calling her name, but Lily didn’t care. She didn’t want to get married and Andy saying that marriage was what girls did in life was a prime reason why she hated the concept of marriage. How dare he think that? Why would he think that?

Lily stopped for a moment as she looked down at her boots and then she felt like an idiot-Andy wouldn’t know any better and he probably didn’t even realize that he misspoke. Lily stood there waiting for him and finally Andy seemed to catch up and threw an arm around her shoulders. They walked in silence, Lily biting down on her lower lip as she thought over everything that had to do with marriage and the more she thought about it the sadder she became.

“Lily please talk to me…” Andy said as they came up to their apartment building and he noticed that she had hardly said two words to him since they left from getting food. Lily still said nothing, but instead she just sat down on the steps leading up to their building, setting the food beside her as she rested her arms on her knees and her chin on her hands.

“There isn’t much to say. I don’t ever want to get married Andy…” She explained and Andy said nothing as he sat down beside her and bumped his knee against hers playfully.

“Not even to me?” He smirked at her and Lily only sighed as she looked up and over at him. Her blonde hair fell in front of her face and she only smiled as Andy reached out a hand to move it away.

“No-never.” She said softly and Andy felt sad in that moment.

“Why not?” It was such a simple question that Lily only wished she had a simple answer for it.

“I watched my parents marriage fall apart before my eyes. I used to be happy Andy-then my father cheated on my mother and left us with nothing. My older brother had left for college and I was the only left with my mother. She grew to hate me-blamed me for my father leaving because I was always in trouble at school. Every day I would walk in to that house and I was walking on to a battlefield. I can’t go through that again-I don’t think I could ever trust someone like that…watch them walk away from me like my father did to my mother.” Lily explained sadly and Andy was trying really hard to understand everything. He was still so unaware of things in life like how someone could cheat on another person, but apparently it did happen and it hurt a lot of people when it occurred.

“I-I’m sorry Lily…I didn’t know.” Andy said as he grabbed for one of her hands and brought it to his lips.

“I know. I love you Andy…I will always love you, but I don’t think I could ever marry you and run the risk of one day hating you…” She sniffed and he knew in that moment that she was holding back tears.

“Hey-I love you too. Don’t marry me…I know we’ll always be together. Want to go inside and watch a movie?” He asked and Lily only smiled as she nodded and stood up.

The two of them walked inside, hand in hand and they both felt their nerves begin to settle in. They would be alone for the evening and they both could feel it in their bones that something big was about to happen. They didn’t know just how right they were in feeling that way.

Notes

Sorry folks-looks like there won't be a wedding in the future for Lily and Andy...because Lily is incredibly stubborn. Isn't Andy cute though? So clueless and fluffy...
