Lily held the sword in her hands as she watched the Demon before her fall to his knees and there was a sickening smack as his head hit the pavement. She pulled the sword out quickly and by doing so she looked down and Lily grimaced. She was covered in blood, her white shirt now splattered with a crimson stain and her pants were all but ruined. Andy was still leaning up against the wall of the building behind him and Lily rushed towards him, the body at her feet being forgotten as she dropped the sword and placed a hand against his injured arm.

It was nearly severed but thankfully she could see that the bleeding had stopped and soon enough his skin would begin the nasty task of pulling itself back together. One of her hands was against his injury, while the other landed against his cheek softly as Lily tried to hold back her tears. She had never seen him in such pain and she really never wanted to witness it again.


“You-are-such-a-badass…” Andy heaved and Lily only smiled as she placed a finger against his lips.

“Shh…don’t try and talk right now. I know you need to save your energy to heal.” She whispered as Lily moved until their foreheads were touching and Andy smiled as she removed her finger and replaced it with her lips.

“I’ll-be-o-kay…” He huffed as she pulled away and Lily only cocked an eyebrow at him as she placed an arm around his shoulders and tried to lead the hurt Half Demon at her side to the van where he could rest.

“My ass. Sit. Down…now.” She said through gritted teeth as Andy tried to walk quickly towards the van, but had to stop as he was feeling dizzy.


Andy did as he was told and soon enough he was sitting on the side of the van with the door open and Lily was sitting next to him. She had retrieved the sword from where she had let it drop and they both had their eyes trained to the ground as they watched the crimson river flow beneath their boots. Andy felt proud of Lily but deep down he also felt ashamed. He was always the one to save her-or anyone for that matter-and he had failed in that this time. His speed was diminishing and Andy knew that his healing was taking longer than normal. Looking down at his arm and seeing that finally the skin was pinching together, Andy knew he had to face facts. He was turning completely human and with that all of his Demonic traits were disappearing faster than a pizza around Jake and Jinxx.


“Lily?” Andy said, his voice low but she had heard him regardless and now her lavender eyes were trained on his tired looking face.

“Yeah?” She said as she reached for one of his hands and took it in to her own.

“Will you still love me even when I’m not a Demon?” He asked her quietly and Lily felt her heart go out to him as she looked towards Andy with a gentle gaze. He seemed so sad and she knew, deep down, that he was embarrassed to be saved by a girl.

“Of course…I’ll love you no matter what Andy.” She reached over and placed her lips against his cheek and Andy only smiled as he turned to her and placed his cool lips against her own.


Andy wanted to reach out and grab for her, but he knew that with his arm that that wouldn’t be such a good idea. She kissed him, her tiny hands resting on either side of his cheeks and she smiled into his kiss as she broke away and looked up at him with those lavender eyes of hers. Andy had always wondered about Lily’s eyes-he had never seen another human with light purple eyes before and it was strange to him to see that Lily seemed to be the only one.

She smirked at him, her eyes shining under the moon light as the two of them sat there. There was a calmness in their silence with one another and soon Andy felt immensely better and as he looked down he could see that his arm was all but healed. When he had been down in Hell he had healed within seconds, but now that he was on Earth and had been for several months-he was slowly but surely becoming human.


“Hey guys-oh shit…another one?” Someone asked from their left and both Andy and Lily looked up to see the small rag tag group of guys approaching them. Ashley was looking at them with a smirk, while CC and Jake were staring down at the body with wide eyes. Jinxx looked like he wanted to just sleep and Lily knew that they had all imbibed a little too much.

“Yeah-fucker almost got me too…” Andy said, pointing to his arm and Ash said nothing as he came over and touched the still healing skin. The bassist looked concerned and Andy knew what he was thinking-it shouldn’t take this long to heal something like that.

“How did you take him out?” Ashley asked as he moved his eyes away from Andy’s arm and looked at the couple as they sat on the side of the van, their hands clasped together in a sickening display of human affection.

“Lily did it…she snuck out of the van with her sword and took him from behind…” Andy said as he stood up and then winced. Moving too fast was not a good idea in that moment and slowly he sat back down and closed his eyes briefly.

“Way to go Lily!” CC shouted as he held up his hand and Lily smacked her palm against his with a soft smile on her face.

“Thanks C…” Lily smiled, but her smile dropped slightly as she looked up and noticed Ashley scowling at her.

“Don’t be too proud. Andy…who is this…he seems so familiar…” Ashley said as he bent down towards the body that was laying before them and he seemed to be sniffing the air around him.

“Brighton…the fool.” Andy snarled as he stood, more slowly this time, and walked over to join Ashley. Both men were kneeling on the ground and Ashley had a hand placed against the shoulder of the dead body before him. Lily was confused-this Demon had tried and almost succeeded in killing Andy and yet both Demons were kneeling next to him, their heads bowed, almost as if they were mourning him.

“I-I can’t believe it. I never knew him to be one to do the Lords bidding. He-he was a guard yes, but I knew that he hated his work and the Lord himself…” Ashley seemed so sad in that moment and instantly Lily felt terrible.

“I don’t believe he was here for the Lord Ash…he was coming after us because of-um…because of Lattie…” Andy said the name softly and instantly there was a growl as Ashley spun around and was soon on his feet. Lily stood up, her hands in front of her but that didn’t matter-Ash had his fingers around her throat and was holding her up against the van with her feet barely touching the ground.

“You pathetic, wretched, vile human! This is all because of you! My sister is dead because of you-we are running for our lives because of you! I have half a mind to just throw you to the Demons searching for us so that we can all go about our lives in peace!” Ashley growled at her and Lily only whimpered as her tiny fingers clutched at his much stronger ones. She could barely breathe and thankfully Andy and CC were coming over to get Ashley away from her.

“Ash that’s enough! It’s not her fault it’s mine…be angry with me.” Andy said and then there was a loud clap as Ashley pounded a fist against Andy’s face and the singer was knocked back a few feet.

“Fuck you! Fuck you and your human feelings for this stupid girl!” Ashley spat at Andy as the singer tried to keep himself upright, one hand against his now bright red cheek while the other was clenched in to a fist at his side. Andy felt the anger boiling within himself and he knew he had to breathe to keep it from exploding out of him.

“Ash calm down!” CC said as he came over to the bassist and placed a hand on his shaking shoulder. Lily could only stand there, her mouth open wide as she watched the band self implode.

“No! No I want her dead! She killed my sister and now one of my closest friends-it’s her turn to feel pain…” Ashley said as he whipped around and began to walk straight towards where Lily was still standing with her back against the van.

“Ashley!” Jake shouted as he moved forward to stand in front of Lily. Jinxx joined him, along with CC and Andy wasn’t in front of her, but he had moved himself to stand beside her and was now clutching her hand for dear life.

“Move out of my way…” The short bassist snarled, but the four guys around her held their ground and Lily said nothing as the tears streamed down her face.


Ashley was so angry with her and in that moment Lily felt as if maybe she did deserve to die. She had killed his sister and now apparently she had killed a good friend of his. But this Demon was about to kill Andy and then come after her-what was she supposed to do? Andy held onto her hand tightly, his thumb rubbing against her skin to try and keep her calm, but sadly it wasn’t working. Those old feelings-feeling like she was the biggest fuck up ever and like she would never amount to anything-they were cropping back up as Ashley shouted at her.

All Lily wanted to do was to find a bathroom and get rid of those nasty thoughts that were pinging around in her head. She had stayed clean for Andy and she was proud of herself for that, but sometimes Lily just wished that she had never been brought back to the human world. Things were so much easier when she was dead-she felt nothing. No fear, no pain, no emotion.

Now all she felt was fear. Fear not only for her life, but for the lives of the four guys around her. Jake was always there for her-making her smile and giving her advice about life and how to make things work in her favor. Jinxx was always so nice to talk to because he had such a calming way about him and he always made Lily feel worthwhile. CC-god he could make her laugh like no one else. He was always pulling faces at her from his drum kit as they played and he was the weirdest dancer she had ever seen. He was also someone who linked Lily to her past and she was constantly reminded of happier times with Brianne as all three of them would sit in his room and listen to whatever new band he was trying to get them interested in.

Then there was Andy-the guy who loved her unconditionally even though he knew she was a fucked up mess. His smile could make her day ten times better and those eyes of his constantly made her want to melt right where she stood. He loved her-in every way and Lily knew that he was her better half. He made things so much more fun because every day was a new adventure for him. Andy was so much to her-he was her everything.

“I’m warning you Ash…” Andy snarled from beside her and Lily snapped back to the present as she noticed that Ash’s chest was up against Andy’s, as the singer had moved to the front of her barrier and was now facing off against his best friend.

“Warn me all you want…there will be a time when she’s alone and Lily and I will just have our little chat then…” Ashley smirked at her, his brown eyes evil looking in the moon light and Lily only pressed herself more tightly against the van.

“You touch her and I will kill you…” Andy said through gritted teeth.

“Try and kill me Andy-you’re hardly Demon anymore, so our battle of strength should be rather interesting. I’m going to bed-wake me up when we get to our next stop…” Ashley said as he moved away from the group and headed towards the front passenger seat.


Andy moved towards Lily then, holding her tightly against his chest as she cried in her terror. She knew that eventually Andy would have to leave her alone and the thought that one of their own was out for her blood scared the living daylights out of her. Lily could take being hunted down by Demons, but someone who she had to share a van with? The next week was going to be more than a little interesting.

It was going to be the most terrifying experience of her life.

Alright guys! This is the last update for a whole week-sorry but I just won't have time to update during the busy holiday week that I have coming up. : \ But! I will be writing more and more when I can and just so you guys know-I have just finished writing Chapter 46 and plan to get this series all written and finished by the end of next week. Then it will be time for the sequel, which I can't wait for you guys to read!
