You Saved Me

Repo! The Genetic Opera

Katie's POV: The next morning, I get up to get ready for school, and decide to wear my black and white skinny jeans, my black and white tank top, and the ankle boot heels Jeffree got me last week.
I then walk out into the bedroom to find it's empty, then I smell eggs and cheese and know Ashley's making breakfast. I quickly finish getting ready, then bolt down the stairs and sneak up on Ashley while he's bent over to feed Killer and Tokyo.
I smirk as I realize he doesn't know I'm here, so I smack him on the ass, making him jump half out of his skin.
"Fuck!" he cries out, then looks at me, and smirks back, "You little devil."
"Me? A devil? Never," I say.
"Oh, really? I can see your ho-" he quickly trails off when he sees the pants I'm wearing, then asked, "What the hell are you wearing?"
"What? I like these pants, thank you very much," I say, "And as for the horns, those are just holding up my halo, baby."
He sighs, shaking his head, then says, "Those pants are awful, babe. I'm sorry, but all I can this is that circus song," then he falls into the song in question.
I narrow my eyes at him, then say, "Oh well. I like them, and I'll wear them, whether you like it or not."
I then strut over to the breakfast bar and sit in one of the chairs, after grabbing a Mean Bean Monster from the fridge.
"Oh, come on, babe. You know I'm just giving you a hard time. I really don't care for the pants you're wearing, but the circus thing was just a joke," he says, setting an omelet in front of me, then sliding the other from the pan onto another plate, and sitting next to me.
I sigh, then say, "It's cool, babe. I just...I don't know. I may seem more confident, but I'm far from that."
"I'm sorry," he sighs, "But if that's the case, you're a damn good actress then."
"I'm not that great. I just know how to hide my emotions, most of the time," I say, as we eat our breakfast together.
After we finish eating, Ashley drives me to school and asked for my keys cause he'll pick me up in my car later. I pass them to him when I'm on my own two feet again, then kiss him and head up to campus.
"Oh my God! Micro!" I hear from behind me, and quickly turn to see a flash of white and lavender obscure my vision, as I'm knocked to the ground.
"Bunny! What the hell?!" I shout, laughing and spitting her hair from my mouth.
"Oh my God! Check this out!" she squeals flashing a poster in front of me, and once my vision adjust, I can see "Auditions for this years school musical are open. Repo! The Genetic Opera," then all the times to be there.
"What exactly am I looking at, Bunny?" I ask, as Echo and Camdon help me up.
"We should totally try out!" she says happily, "Auditions are today after school, and results will be posted after Christmas."
"Umm...That would be great, but one tiny problem. I'm in the music sector, not drama like you and Red," I tell her.
"It's open to anyone, so long as they're students. It's going to be juniors and seniors in High school and Freshman and sophomores in the College," she tells me, "So no excuses. Be at the auditorium after school."
I sigh, then say, "Fine, but what part am I trying for anyway?"
"Shilo," she says, "You'd make a perfect Shilo. Trust me."
"Alright. I will try my best," I tell her.
"Awesome! Meet us at Starbucks during lunch, and we'll work on it then. Also, bring Red and Rocket with you," she says, passing me a sheet of paper.
"Alright. What's this?" I ask.
"The song you're singing. Duh," she says, and when I take it, she and her siblings run off for class.
I look down at the song, and quickly realize it's a duet. Great. Who will I be paired with, I wonder. Oh well, I'll find out soon enough. I stuff the paper in my bag, then make my way to the high school.
(Time Lapse: Lunch Time)
I meet up with Red and Rocket, who have kindly allowed me to ride with them to Starbucks, so we get in Red's, you guessed it, red Jeep Wrangler, which has the top off, since even in December, it's not that cold in Southern California.
When we arrive at Starbucks, we're pulled into the corner by Bunny and she tells me to go first. I tell her I'll need a partner, and then she talks Red into singing with me, since she's a soprano. She then says she'll do Shilo's Mom's part, and we reluctantly agree.
Bunny then turns the instrumental on for the part and I pass the sheet to Red. She sings her parts, then it's my turn.
"Shilo... ? Is your name Shilo? Can I talk to you? Can you come down please... So we can speak? I saw you at the show I thought I'd seen a ghost. Your resemblance is striking. You have your mother's eyes, Her hair, I was told you died with her. All these years have come and gone. How do I put this... ? I'm your Godmom," Red sings.
"State your business," I say.
"Business?" Red asked.
"What do you want?" I ask."I want, I want to finally meet you. Something real to cling to, Leave you with the hope that. You will go do all you're meant to, All I've failed to. In you, is a world of promise. We have both been kept in bondage, But you can learn from all my failures," Red sings.
"I'm not supposed to talk to strangers," I say, backing away slightly, as the script calls for."Or let them through the gate?" Red asked, and we begin switching off on this part.
"That either. A big risk," I say rhythmicly.
"A big fence," Red says with the same rhythem.
"A mistake," I say.
"A new friend," Red says, then Bunny begins to sing.
"Chase the morning! Yeild for nothing! Chase the morning! Yeild for nothing!" she sings.
"How'd you do that?" I ask Red, beginning the rhythem again.
"Do what?" she asked.
"That. That eye thing," I say.
"These eyes can do more than see," Red says.
"I know. I mean, I've seen you sing."
"Where?" Red asked."From my window. I can see the world from there. Name the stars and constellations. Count the cars and watch the seasons," I respond, falling into my own rhythem.
"I wish we could have watched together," she says in the same rhythem we've been using.
"I can't have guests," I state.
"Never?" she questions.
"Ever. If dad found out that I'd been let out, or that you'd been let in..." I trail off.
"I should go then," Red says, turning away, then back to me, "Before I do, promise me you won't..."
"Better that you don't," I say, then we sing together for a moment.
As we finish, Bunny sings the "Chase the morning" bit again, and Red then sings, "Let your life be a dream. Integrity. Honesty. It's too late for me. Don't look back till you're free to chase the morning!" and Bunny finishes the song.
"Hmm..." Bunny says, "That was good, but we need something to show off her pipes better."
"Like what?!" I demand and she shows me another part of the script.
