You Saved Me

Ashley's POV: Katie text me during lunch, telling me Bunny talked her into trying out for the school musical, so she would be late coming out to the car, but I think I'm going to surprise her and the guys. I had called to see if it was open auditions, and they said they were, so I called all of them, asking them to meet me at the school after all their classes were over for the day. Luckily, they all agreed.
About now is when I should head out to the school, so I get in Katie's Mustang and carefully drive out to the school. I don't need her taking my balls from me because I wrecked her baby.
When I get there though, I find I'm the last to arrive, so I lead them to the auditorium and we all sit back far enough Katie won't see us. I watch patiently through the many others who are trying out, then finally Katie's name is called and she walks up on stage.
"We'll pair you up with, oh, Aiden!" the older woman says, and my eyes widen as I see the kid from the tour walk on stage.
"Whenever you're ready," Katie say to him.
He nods, then sings, "Didn't I tell you not to go out? Didn't I?"
"You did. You did," Katie sings, sounding terrified.
''Didn't I say the world was cruel? Didn't I?" he sings.
"You did. You did," she repeats, again sounding terrified, and cringing back slightly.
"Then tell me how this happen. What I did wrong. Tell me why. Can't we just go home Shi and forget this dreadful night?" Aiden sings.
"Didn't you say that you were different? Didn't you?" Katie sings, sounding braver than before, and I soon realize it's her character. She's fallen into the character so well, I thought she really was intimidated by that jerk off, Aiden.
"I am, I am," he sings, sounding miserable.
"Say you aren't that person. Say it."
"I am, I am," Aiden replies, a little louder now.
"Then tell me how to act, dad. What to say, dad. Tell me why. All you've ever told me, every word is a lie!" Katie sings, her voice getting louder and more upset as she gets to the end of that part, and she lets the note hang for a moment.
There's then an insturmental pause and she then sings, "Didn't you say that you'd protect me, didn't you?"
"I tried, I tried," Aiden replies with now.
"Is that how you'd help me? Is it?" she sings, with a demanding tone.
"I tried, I tried!" Aiden shouts with the rhythm of the song.
"Don't help me anymore, dad. You are dead, dad, in my eyes. Someone has replaced you. Dad, I hate you," Katie sings, pushing Aiden back a couple times, then at the end shouts, "Go and die!" running her hands through her hair, then running off stage.
"Didn't I build a house, a home? Didn't I?" Aiden sings to himself, "Didn't I raise her all alone? Didn't I?! Then Rottie took her from me, stole my Shilo! He's to blame! Have I failed my daughter? Then let the father die! And let the monster rise!"
He then exits the stage, and a moment later Katie comes from behind the curtain.
As much as I hate to admit it, Aiden and Katie work well together on stage. While I was watching them, I actually could almost believe that she hated his guts and that he was a desperate father, trying to keep hold of his daughter for as long as he could.
I'm pulled from my thoughts when the older woman, who I'm assuming is the director of this, says, "Wonderfully done, both of you. You both are free to go whenever you'd like and remember to check the notice board in the cafeteria after break is over with."
"Thank you," Katie says, then walks over to Red, who passes her her bag, and they stand up together. They talk for a moment, then hug one another.
"Elizabeth, it's you're turn," the older woman says, "Oh, Katie, would you be a dear and help her with her scene?"
"Yes, of course," Katie says, then her and Red get back on stage and preform a deut where Red talks about being Shilo's godmom and wanting to get to know her. Once it's over, the girls take a bow, then walk off stage.
"Excilent!" the older woman says excitedly, clapping enthusiastically as the girls come off stage.
"I'll see ya around, Red," Katie says, hugging her friend again, then walking over to where she now sees us.
"That was amazing, girls," Ella says, pulling the two girls into a hug.
"Thank you, Ella, but let's get out of here before we disrupt the others," Katie says, then we all head out to the parking lot. The girls then all gather around the two red heads and they talk about how well they did.
"Alright, ladies. I think Ashley would like to see his girl now," Andy says to the girls, who all step away from Katie, but drag Red back into their group.
"Thanks, man," I say as I pass Andy, then wrap my arms tightly around my girlfriend. I nuzzle my nose in her hair as I say, "You did so well, babe. That lady would have to be half out of her mind not to pick you."
"I hope you're right," Katie says, then adds, "I think she'll pick Red for sure though."
"Maybe," Red says, "But I got to get back in there. My sister would kill me if I wasn't there when she tried out."
"Your sister goes here?" Katie asked, "Why didn't you ever tell me?!"
Red shrugs, then says, "Never came up, but yeah. She's a sophmore in college here."
"What part? Like what's she going for?" Katie asked.
"Musical Theater," Red says.
"Well let's get back in there!" Juliet says, and we head back to the auditorium.
We sit through a few people, then the director calls up, "Izzabelle, since Katie, Aiden, and Elizabeth are still here, we'll have them sing with you, as well as...oh, let's go with Andew, Justin, and Camdon."
Katie and Red get up, then head on stage with the small group, and then they talk for a moment, where I watch them all disappear backstage, other than Aiden.
"Tonight, we are betrayed," Aiden says, then sings, "Keep Shilo safe. Make Rottie pay, on Marnie's grave! At the opera to...night."
"I must be brave. Come, come what may. Can I be saved? Is there a way? At the opera tonight," Katie sings, walking out on stage, as Aiden walks to the side, but not off stage. Once she's done though, Red walks out, as Katie takes a step to the back of the stage.
"I've made my peace," Red sings, walking mournfully on stage.
"No chance for peace," Aiden sings, but is acting oblivious to Red, who's now standing not too far from him.
"I hold no grudge," Red sings.
"I'll end this grudge," Aiden follows.
"I'm gonna sing! My final song!" Red belts out, while Aiden belts out, "I'll stain the streets, they'll run with blood."
"At the opera tonight!" the two sing together, then fall to the back of the stage and off, while Andrew and Izzabelle come sweeping out, on stage.
"One more hit, for the show! Make it fast!" Izzabelle sings, putting as much attitude as she can into her voice and movements.
"Take it slow," Andrew sings, softly.
"One more hit, of the glow!" she sing/shouts.
"Go get cut," he seethes at her, then they harmonize with, "For tonight's show!"
"Tonight I set the stage!" the last three come out, as Izzabelle and Andrew get backstage again.
"Tonight we set the stage!" a dark haired boy sings.
"My greatest play!" the one from before sings.
"My greatest face!" one that has long hair sings with a french accent.
"My greatest rage!" the dark haired kid sings.
"Pavie get's laid," the French guy sings.
"All debts are paid!" the three sing together, then the one who started this part sings, "At the opera tonight."
Aiden and Red come back out, and he says, "At the opera tonight."
"Repo Man, come take my eyes," Red sings.
"At the opera tonight!" Izzabelle sings interrupting Red, who continues with, "Repo man, my eyes!"
Red holds her note, while the rest of them sing, "At the opera tonight!" then they all walk off stage again.
