Devil's Awakening
Chapter 2: The Great Escape
I stepped backward quickly, my jaw dropping and my eyes growing wide. "I-I am so so so so-sorry!!" I stuttered, tears filling my eyes. He reached forward and grabbed my shoulder softly. "No harm done. Seriously. Not a drop on either of us," He said with a slight chuckle. "I-I..I have to go.." I trailed off, before sprinting my way down the sidewalk. I felt the iris' of my eyes start to turn white. "Crap.. Not now," I whispered to myself. I slowed my pace as I neared a dark alley. Sitting in the lighter part, I closed my eyes and tried to control my breathing. Suddenly, I heard heavy footsteps and the voice of Jinxx. "Of course." I mumbled. My eyes had completely turned white, not even my pupils were there. My wings ripped out of the back of my shirt, their long leathery wing span covering then wall. I pushed off of the ground, speeding upwards through the air until I was above the cloud level. I need to get back to my car without being seen, I thought. I flew east, towards Starbucks. Landing on the roof with a soft thud, I slipped my wings back into my shirt, thankful that my shirt can seal itself. I crawled on the roof towards the back of the building, silently slipping onto the concrete. I messed with my hair until it covered half of my face, and made a dash towards my car, slipping into the front seat. "Oh god. This is insane." I looked at the time on my phone, 3:45. I needed to pick my sister up. I started up the engine, setting a fake smile on my face. Driving off, I saw Jinxx on the sidewalk talking on his phone, sadness covering his face like a veil. I feel horrible.. I sped up, driving to the high school.
