Ashley’s POV


It’s been three months since CC found me on the floor in my bathroom and three months since Andy broke up with Juliet. Warped tour literally starts in three days. Andy dawn did switch schools and Andy did graduate. I was the most proud person in the room. He got all good grades and was in the top 30 of his class. The school Andy dawn went to had other kids who had parents of celebrities. At first, Andy Dawn hated the school but within two days, she came to love it. Sure there were the few kids who still tried to call her names but because she had a group of friends, it didn’t bother her anymore. The first girl she brought around was named Paige. Paige was a hyper, sarcastic fun 14 year old. She liked Andy Dawn, loved music and was weird but in a good way. Within a month of them being friends, they were practically sisters and she was another kid of mine. At first I was really worried that people would use Andy Dawn to get to me because I was in a well-known band but Paige wasn’t like that. Paige was more interested in finding a safe place for her and her little sister to go after school. I haven’t met her dad yet but I’ve seen the bruises on her. The poor kid has gone through hell and back and yet still stands tall. That’s what makes her and Andy Dawn so good for each other. They’ve gone through hell and have gotten a lifetime of scars but with their friendship, some of them were able to heal slowly.

Her little sister Amy was adorable. She was Jinxx’s age so Jinxx finally had a friend. Their total opposites at times. Jinxx is a tomboy (I’ve raised her well so far) and won’t let anyone push her down without a fight while Amy is girly and lets people put her down. Those two have taught each other things though. Amy now is more confident in herself. For being 5, she is a tough kid just like Jinxx. The only thing I’m not exactly happy about is that Amy loves Justin bieber and she got Jinxx into him. I could put up with one direction from Andy Dawn and that wasn’t often but Jinxx and Amy, oh my god. Justin bieber this, Justin bieber that, Justin bieber. Thankfully, Andy Dawn and I are working on getting them to like One Direction more. I can stand them, that Bieber kid I cant stand.

Another kid Andy brought around was Nikki. Nikki was taller than Paige so seeing all three of them stand next to each other was quite funny. Nikki moved from Illinois to the new school at the same time as Andy Dawn so they were both the new kid together. Nikki was very open when she first came over. She admitted that in her past, she self harmed and also has Anxiety like Andy Dawn. I was glad that Andy Dawn found someone her age that understood her on the level that they were on. The three girls, together were closer than close. You’d think that there being three of them that one would be left out but that didn’t happen with them. Everyone made sure no one was left out and if someone was starting to get left out, it didn’t last long because they were brought right back into the group.

When Andy Dawn first came to us, she dreamt of being in a band just like her awesome daddy. When she met the girls, she told them her dreams and together they built a band. Andy Dawn did lead vocals as well as Bass (just like her cool Dad), Paige did drums because she was hyper as hell just like CC. CC even offered to teach her all the things she needed to know, which wasn’t much because she took drums in school in band class. All he really taught her was speed and accuracy. Nikki did rhythm guitar and back up vocals. She was really good at guitar. The other member of their band was Jakob. Jakob did lead guitar (just like our Jake) and was Billie-Joe Armstrong’s son. He knew his way around a guitar and was good at what he played. The fact that he knew a LOT of green day songs made Andy Dawn VERY happy.

One day all they did was play their songs and then record a couple of covers. Jakob was having fun and loving it, despite the fact that they were his dad’s songs. And at one point I did meet Billie-Joe. I will admit I did fan boy a little bit, I mean who wouldn’t? It’s Billie-Joe Armstrong. He was really nice and once he knew that his son was in a safe environment where he wouldn’t be held for ransom-his words not mine; he let Jakob come over when ever he wanted to as long as it was okay with me and for the most part it was. With the development of their band came the question of a band name. It took a lot of discussion and voting on which, BVB and the guys of Green day had to approve as well as the people in the actual band. It was cute to see how much influence we had on them. The names we all voted between were Starlight days, the drifters, LA Days, and blue moon crazies. What ultimately won were the Drifters. All of the band members drifted together and that’s how the band was formed. One other person I haven’t mentioned was Paris. She was the last kid Andy Dawn brought around. Paris was older than the rest of them by a year and was in the grade above them. She helped form the band but she didn’t want to be in the band, she wanted to be the photographer for the band and was the daughter of Michael Jackson.


Like I mentioned before, Warped tour was in 3 days. Andy Dawn decided she would fly out for several shows but wouldn’t come on the entire tour like we originally planned. She wanted to stay and be with her friends, which was totally fine with me, it was decided she would go to all of the Californian dates as well as the Texan dates and the one in Canada. What was going to be awkward was that Juliet’s band would be on tour. Andy would have to deal with her for every date of the tour. Life with him in the house has been interesting. He goes to Oli’s house almost every day and when he doesn’t go there, he’s already there. If there is a definition of a walking skeleton, he’s it. The one thing he got rid of within a week was his tattoos. It hurt like hell to get removed but he got every single tattoo he got for her removed. He even got new tattoos to cover up where the space was left. He now had a music note by his heart and a tattoo dedicated to the church of wild ones that said, “prophet” on his hand where Dragonfly once was.

He was doing better but not by much. Every time CC spent the night, CC would stay with him until he was asleep because he would cry. It broke my heart to see him still heart broken but slowly, slowly he was getting better. Me on the other hand, it was a long story. My back still was hurting but I could go through most of the day without a spasm now. If I did get a spasm, it would last up to an hour at most and that would be once every three days. On the bright side, I wasn’t bound to my wheel chair as much now. I could get up and walk around the house for a little bit and sit down with no problems. Warped tour would be hard at times but I wouldn’t let my back pain stop me.

My goal was to be able to play a set each date without my wheel chair. That meant I’d have to be in it before and after the show but not during the show. The point of pushing my self was to one get better and two, show that things cant hold you back if your determined. What has made me more than happy was my hair growing out. It was shorter than it has been in years but longer than its been in a while. And other good thing was that I wasn’t so skinny anymore. I put on most of the weight that I lost and I’m now at a healthy weight. My Anxiety still comes and goes but I’m doing better with the help of the pills my doctor prescribed. I don’t have to take my Depression pills anymore because I was able to make it through it and overcome it. Things are really starting to look up for my family and me and that’s what I’m grateful for.


Andy’s POV


The last three months have been hell. Literally the lyric from Pierce the veil saying: with heaven above you there’s hell over me, couldn’t be truer. Juliet wasn’t going through what I was. She was happy while I was heart broken. I spend most of my time at Oli’s now but when he goes back home to the UK to tour, I’m going to be without him for a while until warped tour and then when he leaves again and then I’m on tour. He understands me to where the point it should be creepy but its not. We’ve both faced bad times and have come through it. Right now, he’s helping me. We’ve written several songs that will be released on one of his albums and one of mine and then one single. I stopped relying on pills and alcohol for drowning my demons and instead of using those I use marijuana. It’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I can stop whenever I want and it’s not the worst for you. Like all it does is make you hungry and calm. Ashley doesn’t know about it however and neither do the rest of the guys. Oli knows cause well he’s who I smoke with. We’ve also smoked with Mike from Pierce The Veil once. It was pretty cool. He had the good stuff, almost better than what Oli gets. The weed calms my anxiety and soothes my depression. All I want is to be happy and right now, the joint between my lips is making me happy.


I had my tattoos removed that had to do with Juliet and had something put where they would have been. I have prophet on my hand in dedication to the church of wild ones and a music note over my heart because music is in my heart and it will never leave me like other people have done. I also grew my hair out again. It’s longer than it’s been in a long time and I had it dyed black again but for the hell of it I have a blue strip, which I had done with Andy Dawn. I also had my other lip ring put in so now I have snakebites again. Warped tour starts in 3 days and I’m no way ready for it. I need to pack and I need to figure out how I’m going to avoid Juliet. I got up of Oli’s couch; cleaned up the mess we made and then told him I was leaving.

He gave me a hug and then went back to staring at the wall. Going home, I called my mom and asked her how Crow was doing and how she was doing. I really missed my kitty cat but he was with her in Ohio since I would be going on tour soon. She said he was doing well and that she was doing well and we talked for a bit before I got home. I walked into the house and shouted, “I’m home.” and then went up stairs to my room. Grabbing a suitcase, I gathered all the clothes and thing I would need to tour and then packed it away. Ash came in when I finished and said, “You’ve been gone a lot lately.”

“Yeah I’ve been hanging out with Oli a lot. We wrote a few songs and have been working on them.”

“I need to ask this because well, I believe I need to ask this. Are you seeing Oli?”

I burst out laughing and said, “oh god no. I mean yeah I’m hanging out with him but we are not dating. He and I are both straight.”

“Can I ask what you what you’ve been doing?”

“Do you want the truth or the complete truth?”

“Do I want to know?”

“You deserve to know.”

“I promise I wont get mad, or too mad, it really depends on what your doing.”

“We have been drinking but we stopped drinking as much and smoked more um…marijuana.”

“Now if I remembered right, that was one of the things I asked you to not do but however, you are an adult and it wasn’t under my roof so I cant yell at you. I do ask that you don’t come home smelling like it or high and or bring any into the house. I don’t want Andy Dawn going near it.”

“So you’re not super mad?”

“No but I’m more relieved that its not heroin or anything horrible. I would like that you didn’t become dependent on it but I can’t stop you. Now tell me, are you getting the good stuff?”

“Yeah. Oli gets the good stuff.”

“The only time I ever did it was when I had that cookie. I will admit it was nice to not feel pain and not be on all the medications but the headaches afterwards suck.”

“Oh yes they do.”

“I’m not completely condoning what you’re doing but if I ever need some because of my back because it’s really bad, help me out.”

“Alright. I promise however to never let Andy Dawn get any from me or be around me if I am high or I have it on me. I want to protect her from it.”

“Alright, we have a deal. Anyways, Jinxx is coming over later to go over last minute details, Jake is out so he isn’t coming and I think CC is coming.”

“Alright, when does Sammi take the girls?”

“She takes them tomorrow night. So tomorrow is a family bonding day. We’re ALL going to the zoo, movies and aquarium if there is time.”

“I take it that involves me.”

“Yes now don’t start complaining or you’ll be called little Andy.”

“Sometimes you suck.”

“Sometimes you suck more than me.”

“I wonder who I learned it from

“So do I. it wasn’t me. You were 17 when I met you so yeah not me.”

“Don’t you blame this on me, my love for you was bullet proof.”

“Quoting Pierce The Veil now are we?”

“Do it now and remember it later.”

“In the end, you’re a dead chicken.”

“What? That’s not even in the song.” I said amused.

“It will be now. I’m sure Jake, Jinxx and CC will agree with me.”

“No they wont.”

“Oh you watch. You watch out kid. It’s going to show up at some point just you watch.”
“Oh I’m so scared.”

“You should be. Now get to packing and finishing everything up.”

“Already done.”

“Good boy. Now how about you go make sure Andy Dawn is done packing while I go check on Jinxx and the smaller ones.”

I nodded and then made sure I had everything I needed before going down a flight of stairs to LA’s room. Knocking on the door she shouted, “Come in.” walking into her room I jumped into the middle of her bed all over her stuff. “Hey. I was putting that away, do you mind?”

“No I don’t mind, do you?” I said with a smirk.She sighed and grabbed a pillow quickly and then began to hit me with it. a lot. Picking up a pillow, I hit her back. Screaming, “PILLOW FIGHT!” we hit each other more and more. We foot steps that quickly entered the room and then were hit by more pillows. Getting a glimpse I saw that it was Jinxx and Ash with pillows. Hitting them back, we had an all out war. We were laughing and having a great time. Ash was laughing as he hit me; Jinxx and Andy Dawn were hitting each other while I was hitting Andy Dawn. The war was ragging strong but Ash’s hits began to weaken and weaken. I looked to see him swaying where he stood. Yelling, “I call defeat.” I then gave Andy Dawn a look and then helped Ash down the hall to his room. Just as I got him into his room, he began to fall. I caught him just in time before he face planted horribly into a mirror. Half carrying him to the bed, I then put him on it and went to close the door.

“What’s wrong Ash?” I asked.

“I-I can’t feel, I can’t feel my legs or my- my lower back.”

“Calm down don’t freak out, Sammi texted me during the middle of our pillow fight, she’s on her way. When she picks up the girls and Kellin, Jinxx and Me will take you to the doctors.”’

“I’m scared Andy. I’m really scared. Tour starts in 3 days.”

“Let’s not worry about that right now. If anything happens, we miss a few dates. We missed some when I broke my ribs. The fans understood then, they’ll understand now. Don’t worry about it.”

“I just don’t want to disappoint them.”

“I’M HERE FOR THE GIRLS.” Sammi shouted from down stairs.

I shouted back, “COME TO ASH’S ROOM.” moments later we heard foot steps up the stairs and the door opening to reveal Sammi. “Close the door.” I said and she closed it. As she walked closer to the bed she asked what was wrong. Once I explained that Ash couldn’t feel his lower back or his legs, she said that she could get the kids out of here right now so we could take Ash to the ER to be seen. Gathering all of the munchkins stuff, she loaded it into her car as I helped prop Ash up in bed. Once he was up, I got Kellin from his crib, which Andy Dawn was sitting by in his room. Ash held Kellin in his arms and told him sweet words about how Daddy couldn’t wait to return from tour to see his little man be, well not so little. Kellin seemed to understand Ash was leaving but knew in a way that he would be returning. He also liked to reach out and pull on Ash’s hair and make funny faces as he did it.

It was honestly, one of the most adorable things I have ever seen. Eve who had learned to walk in the last 3 months crawled up onto the bed (with some of my help) and into Ash’s lap. He told her how much he loved her and to be a good little girl. She answered back in her baby English, “I always good.” we all laughed at that. Even at such a young age, she had some sass to her already. She hugged him and held onto him for a while before it was Jinxx’s time to say bye for now. Jinxx came in and was probably the mist distraught. She hugged onto ash and didn’t let go. She told him, “I don’t want you to go. I’ll miss you too much. I wanna go to the zoo and the park and the beach with you all summer long, just like the other kids in my class.” I could tell that she broke his heart.

“Well sweet heart, how about when I get back, we do that as much as we can before school starts and… maybe you can come visit us on tour! How much fun does that sound?” she nodded and said, “fun!” he smiled and said, “alright, now you have to be a good little girl, can you do that for me.” she nodded and smiled and he said, “alright sweet heart, you be a good little munchkin for Auntie now. Run along little cow girl.”

She smiled and kissed him on the nose and got off the bed and waved by to me before hugging my legs. Oh how cute she was. She only reached about my thigh. It was cute. Andy Dawn was the last one to leave. She crawled onto the bed and said, “you be good now old man. I don’t want to hear stories about anything that I wouldn’t do. Haha.” Ash smirked and said, “so beating up Andy is an alright thing to do.” she nodded and said, “so is dumping ice in his bed while he’s sleeping.” “Hey.” I said. They laughed and said, “we will rule this town and whatever town we are in.” at the same time! It was freaky! They finished up their conversation and Sammi took them all to the car. Once they were all gone, I helped Ash up out of bed and down stairs where he rested on the couch for a moment while I called Jinxx. Informing him of what was going on, he decided to meet us at the hospital.

Instead of supporting Ash’s weight, I full on carried him to the car and put him in. once he was buckled in, I locked the doors and set the security system and then drove us to the hospital. Once we were there, I parked and carried him in. filling out the paper work, we were immediately taken in due to what was going on. Ash was placed onto a gurney where they wheeled him off to have tests run while I talked to a doctor about what happened. Once I had explained that we were having a pillow fight but a very rough pillow fight and how he swayed on his feet, the doctor took notes and went to talk to Ash. I sat out in the waiting room waiting for news.

Jinxx met up with me and I told him what happened. He sat with me as we waited for the next two and a half hours for information on Ash. It was a very long two and half hours. It felt like days. Finally a nurse came out and told us that Ash was now in a room and was most likely going to be admitted. Jinxx texted CC and Jake to let them know what was going on. We were walked back to his room where a doctor was there to talk to all of us.

“I am doctor Michael Vizio. I’m here to talk to you about Ashley’s condition.” We both nodded for him to continue.

“Well, it seems that Mr. Purdy has some damage to his spine from where his cancer was. It seems as that his back was healing but for some reason, it did not heal completely or properly. It healed in a way that without surgery, he can be paralyzed for the rest of his life.” Ash remained quiet. Jinxx asked, “What are our options?”

“Well, we can take him into surgery within the next few hours and correct it or we could simply hope that it will heal properly.”

“How long will he be in recovery?”

“That’s what we are unsure of. It could be weeks or even months. He needs to have surgery done if he wants to walk again.”

“Ash, what do you want to do?” Jinxx asked.
