Catherine's POV


I wanted to start my new life already. I wanted to get my mind off of what had happened to Esther and I wanted to contribute my energy to this camp. But of course I had to stay and be more engrossed with what was happening with Esther. Not that anything was wrong with that I was just ready to do some good for someone else too.

Esther was hungry and frankly so was I. We found Cho and ordered what Zain had got us that first day. It was still as good as the first time we tried it. Esther had kept touching her side where she had been stabbed. She refused to wear the bandage anymore.

"Stop, you're going to open it up again!" She had reopened her cut twice in three days.

"I'm sorry! It itches." She whined.

"We can put the bandage back on?"

"No! I'll stop!" That's what I thought.

After we had finished eating Zain came up to us. "Hey, how you feeling today?" He asked Esther.

"Better," they smiled at each other. I was pretty sure something was going on between them.

"Hey want to come explore with me?" He asked.

Esther looked to me excited. I nodded being left alone to take care of the leftovers of food. After giving what I had left to a man I threw the plates in the trash and went to go find Coma. I hadn't talked to him since the first day we got here.

"Hey, Jake! Do you know where Coma is?" I asked seeing Jake wondering around the court yard.

"Um yeah he's with Ashely watching a dance. You sure you want to go see him?" He asked.

"I just wanted to say hi."

"Well just don't let Ashely get you on the stage...but if you do give me details?" He winked.

I pushed him away and went off to find Coma. Sure enough both him and Ashley were watching the dancers.

"Hey!" Coma gave me a bear hug. "Haven't seen you in a while!" He said releasing the hug.

"Yeah, that's why I wanted to come say hi." I smirked.

"You know you wanna see this too." Ashley said running hands down his chest.

I shook my head, "hey do you want to hang out? Esther's kind of with Zain and I don't have anyone." I laughed.

"Get up on that stage if you're bored then." Ashley winked.

"Ha ha, no,"

"Yeah sure what you want to do?" Coma asked.

"Well I was wondering if I could get a tour? I mean I've been here over a week and I don't know a thing about this place."

"Alright, well this is the dance." Coma said motioning toward the dancers.

"Yeah I've seen that already." I laughed.

"Well hmm what else is there?" Coma rubbed his chin.

"Can we get out of here while you think?" I laughed.

"Oh, yeah," he pulled me out and headed down the stairs. "I'll show you the garden!" He pulled my arm.

"Well this certainly doesn't compare to the one in Camp H." I said taking in all the vegetables and plants that I had never seen before.

The garden was bigger than three houses. It was completely green with no dead spots. Misters hung over our head. Rows and rows of plants covered the area.

"Cool huh?" Coma said holding his arms up as if waiting for another bear hug.

"Cool? This is amazing!" I smiled showing my teeth. "How many types of plants are here?"

"Over 100,"

"Wow..." I whispered taking in my surroundings.

"Come on, this isn't the only thing here." Coma said leaving the garden.

I followed him threw the market place on the bottom floor. He stopped in front of a burned house. I looked at him then the house. What was significant abut this place?

"I used to live here." Andy said behind us.

Startled I turned around to see him standing quite close to me. "But, Zain said they died from the plague." I asked seeing that the house was burned.

"After a plague the house they lived in needs to be burned to get rid of the disease." He paused, "Zain was only 10, I had just turned 13 and we were already expected to live on our own with no one to take care of us. no house, no work." He trailed off.

"I'm so sorry," I could see that his eyes were beginning to water.

I grabbed his hand but he pulled away and snapped back into reality. "Coma, Jake wants to know what's happened with the...weapons." Andy said.

"Oh, that. Yeah I'm on it!" Coma said running off.

"But he was giving me a tour!" I whined.

"I'll give you one." Andy said leading me toward another site to see.

He had showed me some more shops and had bought me a few things. He made me laugh and I made him laugh. The day, I thought, was fun. I wondered how Esther's day had gone. When the tour was over he took me back to my house.

"I had fun," he said.

"Me too," I said looking down at my feet.

"Well, see you later." He hugged me then went off.

I walked in and Esther was already home laying on the floor. I put the things Andy had bought me on my bed then went to lay by Esther.

"Oooo who were you with?" She asked.

I hadn't noticed I was smiling. "No one."

"Liar!" Esther jumped up to poke me. "Who were you with?"

"...Andy." She awed.

"What were you guys doing?!" She sat back down.

"He was just taking me on a tour." I played with the ends of my hair. "I...think I like him."

"Yeah, I knew that!" She said.

"What? I didn't even know! How did you?!" I asked.

"It was in your eyes."

"Whatever!" I went into my room.

"You going to sleep?" She asked.

"Yeah."

"Well," she smirked, "sweet dreams." She winked before skipping off to her room.

I took my pants off and got under the sheets. I couldn't get the way he smelled out of my head. Or the way his voiced sounded, the way his eyes were. I could definitely live here for the rest of my life. I fell asleep with a smile on my face and a picture of Andy in my mind.
