I'm Only the Brother

I was in the middle of choking down the piece of meat I had won when Andy seemed to storm out of the house leaving Kitty in their bedroom. She didn't look to happy and I kind of wanted to know what they had fought about this time. I opened the already cracked bedroom door to see Kitty struggling to stand.
“Hey, what's wrong?” I asked watching her find the edge of the bed so she could sit.
Before long she collapsed onto bed ad burst into tears. I was surprised by her reaction and kind of just stood their until the man in me finally spoke up and told me to comfort her. I brought her into my arms and she whispered something so quiet I could barley hear, but oh boy did I hear.
“I'm not ready to be a mom...”
I wanted to pull her away and ask her to repeat what she had just said. Andy got her pregnant?! He hated kids!He hated the thought of them! I didn't know where he got this hatred but man, how could he be so careless when this was the only thing he really feared? I even wanted kids and I was careful to not get Esther pregnant. Kitty wouldn't stop crying. I didn't know what to do, I mean I was only the brother of the idiot that wasn't careful. How was I supposed to comfort her? I knew that Andy would be there for her but I knew he wasn't going to take father responsibilities for the thing.
“Shh, it'll be okay.” What the hell was that?
As far as I knew it wasn't going to be okay. Andy was going to kick her out as soon as she had the baby and he would maybe babysit every once in a while. What I said seemed to help though. She stopped crying so hard and pulled away from me trying but failing to stand again. I helped her back onto the bed and offered if I got her anything to eat or drink. She shook her head and crawled under the covers giving me the hint to leave her alone.
I went to the only person that knew Kitty better than anyone else. She would know what to do. I walked into Esther's house and helped myself to sit on the couch. Esther was in her bedroom and quickly entered the living area when she heard me come in.
“Hey sexy,”she greeted with a smile and a kiss.
I wasn't in the mood at the moment and she could tell. “Kitty just kind of dropped a bomb on Andy about an hour ago.”
“She told him?!” She asked grinning from ear to ear.
“Yeah, well he's not too happy about it...” I said crashing her parade.
“What? Why?” She grew almost angry.
“He doesn't like kids, he hates them in fact. The thought of anyone having kids make him sick.” I shrugged not knowing why he thinks what he thinks.
“Well that's stupid!” I agreed but Andy didn't.
“Look, I just want advice on how to...react toward her.” I said.
“You react like she's pregnant and happy with it!”
“Well, okay, but be aware for when Andy kicks her out and sends her here.” I said.
“I'm perfectly fine with that! And why the hell would he kick her out?! She doesn't have a disease she has his fucking child!” I really didn't want her to blow up but that's what was happening and I needed to calm her down before she killed my brother.
“Look, he will help her out whenever she needs! He just doesn't want it to be called his kid.” I tried to reason with her but she stood and and marched toward the door.
“What the hell kind of thinking is that!? I'm going to put his fucking head straight!” She stormed out the door to be confronted be a still crying Kitty. “Aww, Cat, I'm sooooo sorry.” She said immediately turning her mood around and giving Kitty a hug.
Being the awkward third wheel I got passed them and made my way back to my house to find Andy sulking on the couch. This was way too much drama for one guy. Andy gave me a slight nod acknowledging my presence and I continued my walk to my room. Soon after finding sanctuary it was broken and Andy walked in sitting on my bed with me.
“What do I do? I never even thought about having a kid to even think about what I do with one.” I had no advice for him.
“I don't know man, just be the father of the thing.” I was getting everyone pissed today.
“You know I can't do that! How am I supposed to be a dad?!”
I put my hands up in defense, “I'm just throwing out ideas!”
“I know...I'm going to bed.” Andy said before getting up and leaving me alone again.
The next few months were going to be awesome.
