Catherine POV


After yet another screaming match with my boss about how capable I was in the work place I decided to leave and walk to Esther’s house. I normally did this when I needed some time away with my best friend to get dinner or just to bitch about life. I walked up the stair case to find Zain in front of her door. I found that weird, was he just standing there? Or was she not home?

“Hey, want to see Esther?” I asked.

“Yeah, but she won’t answer the door.” He said pointing toward the door.

“That’s why you open it.” I said opened the door to an empty house. “Where is she?” That was odd because she was normally home at this time.

“Not home.” Zain said.

“I see that smart ass.” I walked back out closing the door behind Zain and me.

“Jinxx said she didn’t go into work today either.”

“That’s not like her.” I walked, more like jogged, to the doctors.

I found Jinxx walking the hallway checking on the patients. When he saw me he went up to me questioningly. “Have you seen Esther today?” I asked.

“No. she didn’t even come into work today. I just thought she was sick.” He said.

I began to pace back and forth. “I saw her this morning and she seemed fine.”

He placed his hand on my shoulder, most likely to stop me from moving. “She’s probably just taking a day off to herself. I’m sure she’s fine. I wouldn’t worry too much she’s a capable girl.

I nodded, “I’m going to see if Ashley has seen her.”

I heard him sigh as I left the hally way. I found Ashley in the bar with some dancer on his lap. I pulled her off him and dragged him outside. After a mad dancer towing swings at me

“Hey, you’ll get your turn, just wait in line.” He smirked.

I was not dealing with this right now, “Have you seen Esther?” I asked

The smirk left his face as he shook his head. “No…why?”

“I just need to find her.” I ran off in search of Andy, he would know how to find her.

When I had found Andy he set me down in a chair and told me to stay still and he would figure it out. I was starting to get anxious. He had been gone for hours, I was starting to think he had either forgotten about me or something had happened. When he re-entered the auditorium I jumped to meet him.

“Well?” I asked gripping to his leather jacket.

He sat me back down and rubbed my upper arms with his warm hands. “No one has seen her all day. But don’t worry I’ll find her.”

“Whoa, wait you’re saying that she’s missing?” A tear had escaped my eye and after that one a whole river descended down my face.

Andy wrapped me in his arms. “Shh, it’s okay, we’ll find her.”

I continued to sob into his shoulder. “I just want to live like we used to…safe.”

I augured with myself whether or not to tell him about the angel thing. I tried to get it out but I couldn’t. “That might not happen.”

I pulled away from his embrace. “What do you mean?” I choked.

“We just have to find her first that’s all.” He knew something, I could feel it.

I decided to let that one slid because I couldn’t even see with all the water in my eyes. I let Andy carry me back home and lay me in bed. He took off my shoes and laid down beside me stoking my hair. I took fistfuls of his shirt and buried my head into his chest. I could hear his heart beating. It was as soothing thud against his chest. My sobs suppressed and I wrapped one leg around him wanting him closer to me. I heard his heart speed up and I smiled at how I could make him feel. I fell asleep knowing that no matter what Andy would be there for me, even when my guardian angel and best fiend wasn’t
