- Dylan Alara Stephenson : the other BFF. Age: 19; hair: dark brown with green streaks below; eyes: black; height: 5'6; piercing: 2 on both lobuses; tattos: none.

1.Chapter One: Empty life.

She was sitting on a bench in her usual park. Headphones stuck in her ears playing the usual rock music she loved from her blue iPod and her Canon reflex was in her hands. She was admiring the strange light games that the sun's rays made by passing through the leaves and the branches of the trees surrounding her. The wind was blowing softly in that late August afternoon, moving her hair, the lower part dyed with a bright red and the upper one stayed dark brown, gently and tickling her neck and her face. She sighed, lost in who-knows-what kind of thoughts, when her phone started to buzz in the left pocket of her skinny ripped black jeans. She freed a ear from the notes of 'Dear God' by Avenged Sevenfold to answer the phone, looked at the screen of her Blackberry and when she discovered the ID of the caller, her face lit up with a smile, scrolled her head while picking up the call.
«Ry!!» She heard on the other side.
«Hayley» answered Ryanne with a little laugh «What's up in L.A.? How are you doing at college? It's been a while since the last time we talked...»
«Yeah, I know. I've kinda busy recently. Exams, puah! By the way, I called firstly because I wanted to ask you something AND, obviuosly, to hear your voice since I miss you a lot down here, sis!»
«Yeah, same here, but get at the point of the conversation...»
«Okay, okay. How about coming to the City of Angels? Just for a while, you know. Dylan's coming too. We don't see each other since graduation, so it would be cool to do a sort of a meet like these days. You in?» Hayley asked with hope in her voice.
«I don't know for sure. I have to ask a permission at the lab, you know. I'll get you know for tonight, 'kay?»
«Perfect! I want so badly to see both of you again! Anyway, if you'll get the green light, you won't have to worry about anything besides packing and get on the plane in time»
«But...» Ry started, but immediately cut off by her friend.
«No way. I don't wanna hear one more word. You'll be my guest.»
«But you're not even sure that I can come!» She replyed back.
«Whatever.»
Ryanne sighed. She should have known that with Hayley there's no way you can win a battle.
Carelessly, Ry shot a look at the screen of her iPod and her eyes widened as she saw the time.
«Hayls, I gotta go or I'll be late. Call you later, okay? Bye!»
«Bye b-»
Ryanne hung up before she could finished her sentence, grabbed her things, put back again the phone in the pocket and started to walk towards the photo lab where she worked.
Once got there she was welcomed by her boss' son, Mike.
«Hey, sweetie. Why so late?» He questioned piercing her with his bright green eyes. Mike was a quite handsome guy but not Ryanne's type so she never fell at his flirting tactics that he used with her. Let's say this, they were also quite embarassing.
«Oh! Hi Mike. Well I've been caught up in traffic, so...» She answered.
«Got it. Well, I was searching for you, actually. I wanted to ask you something»
«Well, spit it out then» she teased him, even though she kinda know where the conversation is going to end, hoping it was not going to end like the last time.
«Well... How about dinner tonight? With me?» Hope visible in his eyes while asking.
She sighed and answered: «Look. I'm so sorry, but I can't»
«You don't like me, do you? It's not the first time you refuse...» A sad smile covering his face.
«It's not that, it's just that I don't wanna give you bad impression. Let's face facts: I'm not the type of girl that you can take to an elegant restaurant or something, but you are, and I don't want you to change your good habits because of me. You're a really good guy and a good friend and I'd like us to stay this way, cause I don't wanna lose you by making this mistake...»
«Okay. You got the point» he said with a little giggle.
She smiled at him and hug him. After a while he hugged her back by putting his arms around her waist.
«I need to see your dad, now. Is he here?»
«Did you have any doubt? This lab is like his second house, or maybe first?» Mike said raising an eyebrow.
Ryanne giggled and started to move down the corridor followed right behind by the guy. While walking, they simply talked, forgetting what happened few minutes before between them.
She reached the door and, once knocked, walked in to find Richard, her boss, surrounded by cameras as usual.
«Hey Rich! I need to talk to you»
He raised his head from some photos and smiled «Hi! Sure! What's up?»
She explained him everything and got the permission for the vacation without any problem. She really loved Richard! He was so sweet with her...
Ryanne worked for the rest of the day, and when she got home late that night she texted Hayley.
“Comin 2 LA! Cant wait! What time da plane & when?”
After a few minutes she got her reply: “Yay!!! Day after 2morro @ 8 AM”
“Got it. C U @ da landing, then :) night!”
Put away her phone, took a shower, jumped into bed and fall instantly asleep, tired for the long day and dreaming about two beautiful deep blue eyes.
