I Didn't Want to Get Married - Comments, page 15
@BVBATLMIW
I totally forgot what chapter I had just uploaded, and thought you were telling me I sucked for a second! Haha! ;3
@ParalyzedYouth
Hahaha! Yeah, I love pigs of all sizes, actually. They're incredibly intelligent, more so than most dogs, that's for sure! But I'm just an old softie when it comes to most animals.
@smutty pariah
Ah, yes! I love goats! I've been wanting some for a very long time after I went to the fair and watched all of the goat 4-H shows when I was younger. I actually wanted to show them, myself! Much like why I love pigs, they just interested me and were cute enough, I actually had some little piggies at one point, they weren't as much fun when they grew up but I still love them. I've just realized how randomly off topic our conversation has swerved.
@ParalyzedYouth
That reminds me of my random love for goats. I actually got a scholarship in school because of it (unexpectedly) my senior year, I ended up having such a plethora of high-intensity, tiny goat patients. They grow on you like a funny, personable fungus.
@ParalyzedYouth
I've never met a Drum in reality, but the designation is a a bit fuzzy, as part of it is a working title (the foundation horses are members of other breeds and it's based on a working job). Let me tell you, when they are bad, it is a nightmare! Dealing with a shitty set of Belgians that are poorly trained and don't want to take meds is horrible! Eventually, it's like, sorry, owner, you have to pay for sedatives, because you never trained your horse properly.
Randomly, I have worked pretty extensively with one miniature in particular. Though vet med doesn't have hippa laws, it's an ethical thing that I can't tell you about it, but I wish I could. I loved that little man. I'm proud to say I did a lot of good for him as a student. Spent countless hours grooming that little bugger!
@smutty pariah
Aw, I'm jealous! I've never actually worked with a drum, or Clydesdale, or really any horse of that type, mainly just saddle horses. When I was younger I tried to teach my POA how to drive like a Clydesdale. Silly younger me. Much opposite from my interest in stocky horses is my love for miniatures. I would own a whole herd if I could pay for it!
@ParalyzedYouth
Yeah, I guess I could have gotten fancier and been more specific. Drums are also stout, I mean, not as wide as, you know, the really heavy draft breeds, but they're often pretty big crosses (usually a pool of Clydesdale, Shire, and Gypsy, though some registries permit Friesians), so it's not so much height as that they have giant heads with big roman noses, etc. the main character even has a warmblood, and those are big horses too, right? but not massive, like drafts. so it was just poorly worded. I love Drums But the draft I've worked with the most would have to to be Belgians, and one Shire in particular, silly old man! Love that old goose!
@smutty pariah
I've been mesmerized by draft horses ever since I was young as well, although I have to say that my favorite breed would be the American Paint (considering I own a huge-ass paint). Well to me he's actually not that big because I view him as my little baby, which is why I found it weird that the main character thought the 16 hand horses were ginormous! Maybe I have the cocky impulse to ride large, flashy horses like Andy?
@ParalyzedYouth
I don't presently, but I have in the past. Not unlike my arch-nemesis, I work in the veterinary field. It's where I get my limited horsey chops from. I'm in the grey zone where a real horse person can smell me out as an intruder immediately, but someone totally green is usually really impressed. Actual horses seem to let me handle them well unless they are extreme problem cases, but I haven't been on one to ride in well over 15 years, which hurts my heart.
I've loved draft horses since I saw my very first ones at a state fair, when I was tiny. Though finding a farrier that will do work on your draft babies is tough in some locales! I'm crazy for Drum horses, but really all draft breeds, and quite a few others... (Well, to be honest, all horses, frankly...)
You make an excellent point, I should define cribbing in the notes. I write these for tumblr initially, where there's no notes section, so I hadn't thought about it. Thanks for the idea!
Finally! A fanfiction with horses in it! And its aristocraic-themed too! I just feel bad for all those readers who don't know the meaning of common horse terms like 'cribbing'. Do you ride, yourself? And I am so sorry for your loss.
@Nikki
Thank you! My most favorite thing (especially for my completed stories) is getting high ratings, if you truly feel the story is deserving of them. Because- hey, every girl likes to be told they are a perfect 10, right? ;3
And... Well, I have an enormous ego that gets a bit deflated. Shorter stories like mine tend to get a little less attention, so this monkey sometimes gets grabby for cookies because it's so desperate. :D
But seriously, thank you, it means a great deal! ;3
This story has such a cat and mouse kind of skeleton but it's so cute aww. Also, I missed you on your break. Hope you're feeling okay, babe
