Competitions // BVBF Awards

It's a shame the forums aren't hugely popular. If there was more of a community within them it'd be more fun. But regardless.
I had an idea that could make writing stories more interesting. If we had a BVBF Awards. You know, so we'd have different categories involving the boys, e.g. best Andy oneshot, best Jinxx oneshot etc, or Favourite Ashley, Favourite CC (as in your favourite portrayal of them in a story) and people could nominate a story for each category and then someone will count them up and reveal the winners, and possibly have some kind of prize.

I think it would be great if this site had a 'featured' page. Rather than just 'popular' because if someone has a popular fic and finish it, it will just fall further and further back, whereas a featured page will keep it there for all to see. And that could be a prize, to get your story featured. I mean, I'm not really sure who runs this site but I think that would be cool.

Anyway, I think it'd be fun to make a little competition of it every now and maybe we could start small, a few categories. We can put it in a thread. I wouldn't mind running it. I could put the categories in a post, people could message me their nominations, and then I'd post the winners. Does this sound like something anyone would be interested in?
It won't be that fun unless we have a fair amount of people taking part, though, you know.

I would be down for some voting. Maybe for those of us who have tumblrs we could feature a link to each winning submission, tagging it appropriately so maybe people who look at that tag find it. Also for people who have a lot of followers on Twitter or Instagram could do the same. Sadly I think it would take a while for this site to get a featured page and I honestly hate the Popular page because I don't get how some stories are more popular than others when they have less views/comments.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea! I agree, I just don't understand how the ordering of the popular page is decided sometimes

Views per chapter maybe? I dunno-it seems kind of like a flawed system. I'm updating one of my stories tomorrow, so I'll put the link to this topic at the bottom to generate some more interest incase some people don't come to the forums and see it on their own.

this sounds good, i dont mind if some of my stories are entered, but will have to ask if isis dunt mind about luck of the fallen angels is put in, i dunt get the popular page either, just seems random to me lol

Also, I can provide a prize if you want. I make customized banners for my stories so if anyone wants a customized banner, I could make them. I have a thread going somewhere in the forums that features them but yeah. And my writing is pretty popular on this site (I'm pretty sure almost everyone on here has either ready my stories or knows who I am) so I'm also up for offering my writing services to anyone who knows of my work. It can be editing, co-writes, story ideas, banner making, a one on one writing session with me through PMs to help you improve on your writing. Just some suggestions on prizes. I also make layouts on Mibba if anyone wants that too. I really like helping people so none of this is restricted to this website.

I think this is neat. I write over on dokuga.com as well and I remember how excited I always got when it came up to awards times. I'd totally be up for this

I think that'll do for now since I'm not sure how well this will go down, ahah. Any suggestions/input on those categories?

My plan is to create a new thread just for the awards, I'll post the categories, have people message me their nominations for each one, then post the nominees in the thread for people to message me their winner out of the shortlist. And then we can discuss prizes with the winners and such. Does that sound good? I think I'll make the new thread soon.

Love it! I'll let people know about it as well. Are you going to get general nominations and from those pick like say 4 people or 4 stories that have gotten the most nominations and then let people vote from those? because I feel like that would be easiest. Just an idea, but it's your project. I'm just here to help and make suggestions. I love the categories and I really hope this turns out to be awesome!

yes! That was exactly my idea with the nominations. That's what the 'shortlist' will be; just a narrowed down selection of the votes that people can vote from.
