JINXX’S POV


I wake up in my childhood house. Jason, my friend from when I was a kid standing in the middle of the living room.

“Jason?” I ask and he smiles at me “How? You died in a fire with your family”’

“Jay, I never thought I’d see you this soon” He says, sadness in his voice

“What do you mean? What’s going on?” I ask

“You’re almost dead” He says simply

My eyes widen “What?!” I exclaim

“It’s your choice whether you stay here or not” My dad says as he enters the room

“Dad?!” I say as I run towards him and hug him

“Jeremy” He says as he hugs back “As much as I love having you here, that girl needs you”

“Valerey? She’s alive?” I say, my eyes lighting up

“Yes, she only has a concussion and broken leg, she wasn’t hurt that badly, but you almost died. You would’ve had me and Jason not intervened.”

“So, I’m... Supposed to be dead”

“Yea, but Valerey needs you” Jason says “You’re her only will to live”

“She’s tearing herself apart inside, though she appears fine on the outside” Dad says

“Well how do I go back? I promised I wouldn’t leave her”

“You have to prove that you actually deserve to live”

“How?” I ask and all of a sudden the scene changes to the outside of a venue and I watch my meeting with Valerey and Belle all over again. Then the scene changes to inside Belle’s house, only Valerey’s granddad is there. He pulls out a gun

“Stop!” I yell, but he shoots Belle in the stomach and she falls over clutching her middle and he shoots her again, but in the leg this time and I can feel the tears on my face.

“No” I say, and then I’m in my old living room again.

“You could’ve saved her” Jason says

“No, I had to protect Valerey, Annabelle wanted me too. She told me to get her out of there” I say

“You could’ve saved them both”

“How?”

“You could’ve brought Annabelle with you and Valerey”

“I didn’t have time to, I would’ve, but I couldn’t”

“You could have”

“No, I need to go back, I’m sorry, I did all that I thought I could, I’m not perfect” I say, pleading. Then the scene changes to the first night Valerey almost killed herself after I met her. I watch the scene play out from Valerey’s eyes. And I start crying again, and then I’m in the hospital with her, and then back in my old living room.

“You kept her alive” My dad says

“You’ve kept her alive more than once, you were the reason she kept going back” Jason says

“And because of that, you can go back to her now”

“Really?” I ask “I’ll miss you guys...”

“You still have to fight to stay alive” My dad says and the whole scene fades

“What’d he mean by that?” I ask myself as I fall back into darkness. I wasn’t ready to leave Jason and my dad yet, but I had to. I have to wake up for Valerey.
