The hospital

At the hospital they had warmed you up, changed you into hospital robes and used a nasogastric tube on you to remove water that you had swallowed. You felt like shit. Eventually you had gotten your own room, and now a nurse was asking if you were hungry.
“No. But I could use another blanket,” you said pitifully and hugged the thin blanket around you that they had provided you with.
“Of course,” she said and disappeared. You couldn’t believe this. Couldn’t believe you’d fucked up the only task you had set your mind to.

The nurse came back a while later with a blanket and a glass of juice.
“I told you I don’t- ugh whatever,” you mumbled and shook your head.“I’ll put in on the table just in case. Here’s your blanket,” she said and handed it to you. “And there’s someone here asking for you. Do you feel well enough to see him?”
“What?” you asked groggily. Who would want to see you? Did anyone know you were here? You were twenty two years old, so they probably hadn’t called your parents. Besides, you hadn’t talked to your parents since you moved out two years ago. Your best friend couldn’t possibly know you were here, but then it hit you.

“Is… is it the guy who…” Saved you? Fucked up your plan?
“He says he’s the one who pulled you out of the water and called the ambulance, yes.”
“Oh. Well… yeah I guess I can see him.”
“I’ll send him in,” the nurse said with a smile and left. This is every bad fanfiction ever… you thought to yourself. If it even was who you thought it was. Maybe you had been hallucinating before. You took a sip of the orange juice and brushed through your still damp hair with your fingers while you waited. Then there was a knock on the wall - you didn’t have a door - and holy shit it was him.

“Hi,” Jinxx said as he carefully took a few steps inside and smiled slightly. “How are you doing?” You didn’t know what your reaction should be. Should you be thankful? Should you be mad at him? You still wanted to die.
“I’m peachy,” you said sarcastically. He made a face at you.
“Dumb question, I know. Sorry. Can I sit?” he asked and motioned towards a chair next to your bed. You nodded and he sat down.

“I felt like I needed to come by and check on you. Are you clear on what happened?” he continued.
“I don’t remember much, to be honest.”
“Anyone fill you in?”
“No, not really.” You clutched at your blankets again, not sure what to say.
“Well, what do you remember?” Jinxx asked. You thought for a while.

“Jumping. Being cold. Getting pulled up. Blue lights. Your face, vaguely.”
“I tried to get you not to jump. I ran after you as soon as I saw what you were planning but I wasn’t fast enough. I almost had you but then you let go. I ran the fucking fastest I could down to the water and jumped after you. I’m so glad you made it,” he said.
“Why?” you demanded, your voice shaky but strong.
“Why am I glad you lived?” He looked at you incredulously.
“Why did you go after me!”

Jinxx scoffed.
“You must be kind of a terrible person not to try to save someone about to kill themself. In my profession I meet a lot of people dealing with suicidal thoughts, so-”
“I know who you are,” you muttered.
“Yeah, I figured. You said my name right before they took you away.” Jinxx shifted in his seat and you shook your head, furrowing your eyebrows and looking away from him. “Well. Maybe it was a mistake to come by here, I don’t know, I just wanted to make sure you survived. But I’ll be out of your way.” You didn’t reply, just stared out the window. “Can I at least get your name or do I have to coax it out of one of the nurses?” he pressed. Without looking at him you answered.
“Y/N.”
