Picture Perfect?

3 Months Later;

ASHLEY'S POV :

Things have been kind of interesting since the night I broke up with Tanya . Everyone expected me to get depressed and hide out from everybody , or go into what Tiff and Juliet refer to as my "slut mode" , and go bang anything with a vagina and a pulse . They were actually surprised when neither one happened , but to be honest , what I mostly felt was relieved . Up until that night , even I hadn't realized just how tired I of her I'd become . It was almost like someone had rolled a big rock off of my chest , and I could actually breathe again .
Unfortunately for Tanya and Giorgio , things haven't worked out quite as well for them . Apparently , the first thing that Dev did after she got to Andy's was call Jenna and tell her everything . She sent me a text , telling me how bad she felt for me , but otherwise she was basically doing the Dance of Joy . They made arrangements for everybody who got pictures to send then to Jenna's grandad , and it didn't take long after that for his wife to file for divorce . And when it became obvious that he was gonna come out of it with basically nothing but his clothes , Tanya dropped him like a hot rock .
As for her , between Dev and her friend Esteban , her modeling career is pretty much at a standstill . Her job offers have dropped to almost nil , because the two of them have told basically everyone they know that she's unreliable and unprofessional . She called me a couple of times , trying to convince me to take her back , but I just told her to fuck off , and blocked her number . Last I heard , she had actually had to take a job at a strip club and move to a cheaper neighborhood .
Something else that took everyone by surprise was when I informed them that I was taking a bit of a break from women . I'm pretty sure that this is the longest I've gone without getting laid since I figured out how it was done . But I really need to figure out where I keep screwing up . I've reached the point where I actually know what I want , I apparently just suck at being able to find it .I want someone who's actually interested in me , not just what I do , or what they think I can do for them , and most of all I want someone that I can actually trust out of my sight for more than five minutes . But right now , outside of the other guys girlfriends , the only women I really talk to right now are my friend Jazy , and Dev . Jazy and I have known each other for years , so we can talk about practically anything , and Dev just seems to be able to make me feel better about myself , no matter how shitty things are at the time .
She's actually coming out to Vegas in a couple of days , and she's gonna crash in my guest room . So we can actually hang out together for awhile , and I can show her some of my favorite spots .
Right now I'm on the phone with Andy , talking about some things for the new album , and he just happens to mention that Juliet is thinking about setting Dev up with some guy she knows from when she was still in her band .
When he says this , it feels like he's just put that rock right back on my chest . This can't be a good idea . I've met this guy , and he's totally wrong for her ! She needs someone who can appreciate what an amazing , special girl she really is . Somebody who actually gets her . Someone like ....ME .
"Hey , Andy , I was wondering ....?"
"Yeah , what ?" , he says .
"I was sort of hoping that maybe you could ...."
"Maybe I could WHAT, Ash ? Why is it all of a sudden that you can't even finish a fucking sentence ?"
I take a deep breath , and say , in a rush , "I was hoping that you could maybe talk Jules out of following through with that idea , so I can maybe have a go at it myself ."
I don't hear anything for a few seconds , then he chuckles , and says , " It's about fuckin' time you pulled your head out of your ass , Purdy !"
"Say what ?"
"Dude , CC's been telling us for the better part of a year that you went for the wrong roommate , and he was right on the money . Dev is smart , talented , and gorgeous . She's also a sweet , considerate , genuinely decent person , which is pretty much the exact opposite of your last couple of girlfriends . This is exactly what you need , man ! Someone who actually cares about you as a person , not as 'Ashley Fuckin' Purdy from BVB' . So ,yeah , hang on a sec ."
I hear him put the phone down , then some mumbling in the background . Then I hear the phone being picked up again , and Juliet says , "Okay , Ash , but if you don't do something before she comes back from Vegas , you're SOL , dude !"
Okay, now I just have to hope that she doesn't laugh in my face .
