Picture Perfect?

5 days later ,

DEVLIN'S POV :

I'm sitting in the middle seat of my parent's van ,along with Paul and Darcy , nearly through with our road trip to the St . Louis airport . I was originally supposed to leave yesterday , but when I talked to Ash the other night he said that he was planning to charter a private plane to go back home , and if I could push my schedule back a day , he'd appreciate some company on the flight . so I cancelled my reservation .
We're actually meeting him at a restaurant near the airport , because my parents had already planned to take my siblings and I out to lunch before we caught our respective flights , and they insisted that Ashley join us . He was a bit hesitant at first , but I told him that resistance was futile , so he finally gave in .
As we pull into the restaurant parking lot , I see that he's already here , leaning against the wall .
"That's him right there ! Hurry and find a parking space , Dad , before the poor guy turns into a popsicle !"
Holli , who's sitting behind me with Tony , looks out the window and says ," Woah ! He is a cutie , isn't he ?"
"Yes he is . He also has a girlfriend , remember ?"
"That doesn't mean I can't admire a good - looking guy . Apparently you've noticed , too ."
"Dearest sister , Stevie Wonder couldn't miss that !" I giggle . "Actually , all of the guys are pretty decent looking."
Dad finally parks the van , and we all start piling out . When I get out , Ash waves and starts walking toward us . I meet him halfway , and I'm immediately pulled into a huge hug , which I return full - force , because it's obvious that he needs it .
I can definitely see why Holli was so impressed . He hasn't shaved in a couple of days , but that's actually a really good look for him . He's wearing sneakers , a n old pair of faded - out jeans , a red plaid flannel shirt , and a leather jacket . I can't help but think that it's a good thing Tanya isn't here , she'd probably be trying to jump him at the table or something .
Everyone else finally catches up , and I start out by introducing him to my parents .He holds his hand out to my dad and says , " It's nice to meet you , Mr . Farrel ."
Dad shakes his hand , but tells him , "Don't even . We've never been that formal with any of our kids friends . I'm Rob , and this is Joanne ."
I ten introduce him to my siblings and Darcy , and he unintentionally gets a laugh when he looks at all of us together and asks who's the oldest .
He's a bit confused , and I say , "Sorry about that , Ash . Apparently I forgot to mention that we're quads ."
He sort of quirks an eyebrow at me and says , "Yeah , I'm pretty sure you did . I think I would've remembered if that had come up in conversation ."
We go into the restaurant , grab a table , and make our orders , and Ash winds up sitting between me and Paul . He's a bit quiet at first , but he starts loosening up fairly quick , and pretty soon he's nattering away just like the rest of us .
As we're eating , he tells me that Tanya finally got around to calling him yesterday . Apparently , when she tried to get out of the shoot she was booked for , the photographer threatened to have her blackballed if she didn't show up .
I know Esteban , and he can definitely be moody , but that's extreme , even for him . Either she's somehow managed to seriously piss him off , or he's fighting with his wife again and taking it out on everybody else .
We spend the next hour and a half eating and talking , but then we finally have to head for the airport . My family and Ash have taken to each other so well that they're all swapping e - mail addresses and such . He seems to have hit it off especially well with Paul , since they're both big country - music fans .( Definitely not my thing , but they dig it , so more power to 'em )
We all crowd back into the van , and Ash gets into his rental , and we all head off to the airport .

ASHLEY'S POV :

I was a little hesitant to join Dev and her family for lunch when they first invited me , I was sort of afraid that I'd be intruding on their family time ,but now I'm really glad I went . Now I completely understand how Dev turned out to be the sweet , thoughtful , generous person she is . These people are so nice and friendly , it's almost like being around my own family . I guess maybe it's because we have similar backgrounds , so we understand each other . It's kinda like we speak a common language .
As everyone is saying goodbye before heading off to our respective gates , Dev's mom , Joanne , basically envelops me in a huge hug , and says , "I know that Devlin is an adult , and old enough to take care of herself , but it makes me feel better to know that she has you and your other friends there to sort of look out for her if she needs someone . Thank you ."
I hug her back , and say , "There's no need to thank me . She does the same thing for all of us . We all have each others' back ."
We finally have to board the plane , and when we get on , Dev says , "This is actually kind of weird . I've never been on a plane with only one other passenger before ."
"Yeah , it's not something I do on a regular basis myself , but I didn't feel up to dealing with an entire plane full of people right now . But having said that , I am glad that you were able to fly back with me. , because I probably would've gone completely insane without someone to talk to all the way back to LA ."
Since we're the only passengers , we have plenty of room to sprawl out and be comfortable , so we're both taking up at least two seats . I noticed when she took her coat off at the restaurant that she had the same idea that I did . Dress to be comfortable , not necessarily stylish . She's wearing a pair of Uggs , black leggings , and the hoodie I gave her for Christmas . She also has her hair in pigtails , which makes her look about twelve . When I tell her this , she gives me a raspberry , which I tell her just proves my point .
We basically spend the majority of the trip talking about our families , looking at pictures on our phones , and streaming the most recent episode of "Sleepy Hollow" , which she totally fangirls over . I've never actually watched it before , but it seems like it might be pretty interesting , so I might have to catch up .
We finally land in LA , grab our bags , find my car in the parking lot , and head to her apartment . Since I actually live in Vegas now , that's where I stay when I'm here , unless Tanya's gone , then I crash with one of the guys .
We walk in the door , and I hear "Hey , Dev , how was your trip ?" Then before she can even answer , I'm attacked by blonde hair and boobs . Definitely not the worst greeting I've ever had . Maybe tonight I can get my mind off of how bad everything has been , at least for awhile .

I know that there hasn't actually been a lot of action yet . Bear with me , please , things will start picking up in the next chapter . This is actually my first story , so please give me some feedback . Thanx !
