A Bounty Less Love

Preface

It had been a chilly October morning the first time I saw him. My alarm had failed to go off that morning, so I was running late to school. Worried about my dad's reaction, I'd decides to take a short cut. As I emerged from the woods into the park, I happened to look over.
He had been sitting at a picnic table. His back was pressed against the table and his long legs stretched out in front of him. His long black hair was being tossed in the wind.
My heart nearly stopped. I'd never seen him before, but everyone knew about him. Andy, the town heartthrob and bad boy. He was always causing trouble, but rarely was ever caught.
Andy lifted a cigarette to his lips. He cupped his hand around his lighter to block it from the wind. As he put the lighter and cigarettes back into his leather jackets he happened to glance in my direction.
I nervously tucked a strand of my long auburn hair behind my ear as he smiled at me.
His piercing blue eyes slowly took in my appearance. I look like the total opposite of him. I was wearing light brown uggs, black leggings, and a grey sweater dress. “What's the rush little girl?” Andy asked. His deep voice sent shivers down my back. I wanted to shout back that I was not a little girl, but Andy was older then me and much stronger than me. I really didn't wanna anger him.
I lowered my head and started walking to the road. I was too fully aware of the sound of leaves crunching as Andy started walking. But I forced myself to continue walking at the same pace even though I wanted to run. “What's your name?” Andy asked. I jumped and looked up to see Andy right beside me.
“Audrey.” I mumbled.
“I'm Andrew. But everyone calls me Andy.” Andy looked me up and down. “But I'm guessing you already knew that considering your reaction.”
I could feel my cheeks heating up. I lowered my head, my auburn hair falling in my face. “Where you rushing off to?” Andy asked. I glanced up just as Andy moved his hand. I instinctively winced. Andy stopped and frowned. He then moved his hand again and tucked my hair behind my ear. “You're really pretty Audrey. You should keep your hair out of your face.”
“I'm late for school.” I answered, quickly changing the subject. Andy chuckled.
“School fucking sucks man.” I shrugged in response and started walking again. Andy fell into step beside me. After a few moments of silence Andy asked, “So what grade you in?”
“I'm a Junior.” Andy nodded. Andy had been a senior when I was a freshman. I'd heard horror stories about him, so I did everything in my power to avoid him. Funny how it wasn't until he'd been out of school that I met him.
“Mrs. Engleton still a bitch?” Andy asked causing me to laugh.
“Oh yea.” I answered, shivering from the cold. Andy shrugged off his jacket and handed it to me. I thought about denying it but decided against it. I put the jacket on and we continued the walk in silence.
When we reached the school I started to take the jacket off but Andy stopped me. “Bring it to the park tomorrow. It's suppose to get colder today. Plus it gives me an excuse to come see you.” Andy smiled a devilish grin. I could feel the blush creepy on my cheeks and before I could even say good bye Andy was gone.
That night when I got home from school, my parents were in the kitchen arguing. It wasn’t anything new to me. I ignored it and headed upstairs to my room. I sat on my bed and tried to do homework at first, but all I could think about was the blue eyed boy I’d met today. Leaning against the headboard, I lifted the sleeves to the jacket to my face. I inhaled the scent and smiled. It smelled slightly of axe cologne and of cigarettes.
I let my hands slip into the pockets of his jacket and I felt something. Frowning, I pulled the object from my pocket to find...Andy’s cigarettes. I chuckled. He’s probably missing those. I opened the box and looked at the contents inside. I’d never been one for smoking but, I thought about smoking them.
I closed the carton and slide it back into the jacket pocket. Tomorrow I would give Andy his jacket back and it would all be over with. That’s not how it worked out though. The next day, I found Andy sitting at the park just has he had been yesterday. Upon seeing me Andy smiled and waved. I had his jacket in my arms and I held it out to him.
Andy looked at it, then started walking away. I stared at him in complete confusion. He stopped and looked at me. “Come on Audrey, you’re gonna be late again.” I rushed to where he was standing. I once again tried to hand him the jacket.
He shook his head. I sighed. “Do you at least want your cigarettes?” Those he took from me without a second of hesitation.
When I got out of school that day, Andy had been standing at the bottom of the school steps. He smiled at me when I reached him. “Can I walk you home?” I felt so many eyes on me. I nodded my head. Andy smiled lacing his fingers in between mine.
It became a daily routine for us, and soon we became inseparable. We were always in trouble but we didn’t care. Hell the town called us...Bonnie and Clyde.
