Worlds Collide

My eyes fly open from a loud car horn outside, I sit up quickly forgetting where I am. Fuck I have to get home. Staying at Ash’s place wasn’t a very good idea, hardly a eureka moment. I pull on my pants and shoes so I can head home, I don’t have any calls or texts from Jinxx so I think I’m safe… for now. I leave a note on the bench for Ash as I tiptoe quietly out the door trying not to wake him ‘Had fun last night, thank you –JJ’

I parked down the road a little so Jinxx doesn’t hear the engine as I pull up. I quietly tiptoe up to my room, collapse on my bed and fall asleep… again.

I wake up to the sound of my phone ringing “What do you want?” I say grumpily answering the phone being blinded by the light of 1000 suns in the process,
“Good Morning sunshine, or should I say Good Evening?”
“The fuck you want Ash?”
“Well I have a bag of thai food and no one to eat it with me.”
“Soooo.”
“I’ll be there in 30” Ash said as he hung up, what a little bitch. Speaking of little bitches is jinxx home? Only one way to find out “JINXX YOU GIRLY MOTHERFUCKER COME HERE!” nope not home.
I had quick shower and changed into some comfy clothes that are more presentable than the ones I slept in, not just once but twice. I slap my wet hair up into a messy bun, put on some concealer and fill in my eyebrows. I quickly tidied my room so I look like less of a slob than I actually am. “Knock Knock!” I hear Ash’s voice yell from the front door, “Coming!” I yell back kicking a shirt under my bed, don’t judge me. “Sup.” I say opening the door for Ash,
“Hey JJ.” Ash says as he walks in and sets a plastic bag full of food on the kitchen counter, “We’re gonna watch a movie and I’m picking it.”
“Okay you can pick the movie as long as I get first choice of whatever is in that bag.” I say pointing to the bag,
“Deal.” Ash laughs


Ash picked ten things I hate about you, jokes on him I love that movie, we barely watched the movie and just talked the whole time. “Where is Jinxx?” I asked Ash, wondering if he knew where my brother had run off to. “Jinxx went out of state.” He answered.
“Wait what?!”
“He didn’t tell you?”
“NO!”
“He went to go visit an old friend, something about guitars.” Ash said taking a mouthful of food
“What a dick.”
“Who cares about him? Let’s play a game.”
“This never ends well.”
“Shut up! Okay would you rather walk in on Jinxx having sex or have sex with Jake.”
“Ash! I can’t answer that!”
“Yes you can.”
“Ummm… walk in on Jinxx.”
“Really?! You want to see your brother going at it.”
“I don’t want to! I also don’t want to go at it with my best friend.”
“Fair.”
We went on for ages playing would you rather, telling stupid stories, laughing our asses off, telling embarrassing stories about the boys, past relationships, bad first dates, and everything in-between,
“Okay, tell me about your first kiss.” Ash asked
“Well I was 17, it was the middle of the school year, and we were in the girl’s bathroom during math class.”
“Really?” he said in disbelief
“What?”
“A bathroom.” He mocked
“Yes, he asked to see my boobs but I said no so we compromised and kissed instead.”
“That’s sounds shitty, haha get it, shitty.”
“Oh my god! I hate you! You are actually the worst person.” I said shoving his back on him back.
“I have a really good idea.” Ash announced
“What?”
“Let’s go and get McFlurrys.”
“You are actually the best person!”


Mayyybe Mcflurrys weren’t the best idea… It started to rain, that was okay, I love the rain, great, good but then the car battery died… and we a stranded in a carpark that ash managed to pull into while the car was dying. “at least we’ve got mcfurrys.” I said optimistically, we both laughed at our misfortune. “You never told me about your first kiss!” I said taking a scoop of my ice cream
“Well I was 12, what can I say I was a slut.”
“You still are.” I said taking the spoon out of my mouth
”Well played. Anyways so it was with a girl under the monkey bars after school one day. We were just curious and it seemed right so we kissed.” He said scraping the last of his ice cream out of the container
“Well that was underwhelming.” I said also finishing off my food
“What do you mean!?” he exclaimed
“Nothing” I said looking in the opposite direction
“Rude.” He said quietly “
“I wish I could play bass like you.” I blurted out
“Why?” he asked confused
“Because you are so good, I love watching you play. And I like your backup vocals.” I said with a blush creeping up into my cheeks
“That’s really sweet, thank you.” He said in a soft voice making tingles go up my spine. “Okay well let’s fix this car.”
“How?” I asked confused

Ashley taught me how to pop the clutch in some weird way while he stood behind the car pushing, I don’t think this is going to work. The car started to move I pushed in the clutch changed to second gear and turned the key, and nothing happened the car just spluttered and stopped again. “Fuck!” I yelled punching the steering wheel. I hopped out of the car into the rain and ran to Ash “I can’t do it!”
“Yes you can! It never works the first time just try again.” He said with his hands on my shoulders
“No ash I can’t do it, I don’t know how, I can’t.” I said starting to panic
“Hey, hey, hey.” Ash said pulling me into a hug, the rain pelting down on our heads “It’s okay. It’s okay.” He said placing his hand on the back of my head. I want to be in this moment forever, but I can’t.
“Okay, I’ll try again.” I said releasing our hug
“Okay! Let’s do this thing.”
I hop back into the car ‘okay JJ you can do this’ the car starts rolling forward, I push in the clutch put the car in 2nd and EUREKA! “I did it” is said quietly “I did it!” I jump out of the running car into ashley’s embrace, “I knew you could do it.” Ashley said
“You did?” I asked, my heart pumping a million miles an hour
“Of course, you can anything.” I jumped up and kissed him, our lips moved together in sync, the rain poured down drenching us both, he lifted me up and I wrapped my legs around his waist only causing my heart to beat faster. I pulled back and looked into his eyes, he’d never looked so amazing. “Well that was different.” Ash said with his eyes wide open
“Put me down you doofas so we can get in the car.” Ash placed me down and I hopped in the passenger side of the car. “Cute pash rash.” Ash said looking over at me while he drove.
“Shut up.”
