A Savior Will Be There

Chapter 7

It's been a few weeks since Korey arrived at this school and the bond she has with the guys, Sammi, and Hope, were really strong. She loved all of them like family. As far as the bullying, that still hasn't stopped. Instead it gradually gets worse, every now and then she'd tell Andy. But not always. She never liked people to worry about her, that is why she didn't tell him everything. It is now Thursday in some week in the month of October. The time when it gets cold outside and things like that. Korey is wearing a black Led Zeppelin sweatshirt, a black beanie with a little Batman pin on it, black jeans, and some black combat boots she had. It was two years ago today that the crash happened, and this was always the worst day of the year for Korey. Korey is now walking down the halls sluggishly and she suddenly bumped into someone. 'Damn it! Not now!' Korey thought to herself. It was Jennifer. Yay. "Oh hey little loser. That is a great shade of depression you have there." Jennifer said. She was all in pink and white and her blonde hair was in curls and a ponytail. "And that is an exquisite shade of bitch you're wearing, Slut." Korey said, clearly not wanting to take any crap from anyone today. She simply walked away from Jennifer, ignoring all the 'oohs' and 'burns' from other classmates. Korey made it to homeroom and swiftly sat in her seat, plopped her backpack on the ground, and sneaked her earbuds that were already up her shirt to her ears. She began listening to 'Aces High' by Iron Maiden. Through all of homeroom period, Korey didn't look or whisper-talk to anyone, not even Andy. Instead, she worked silently on a portrait of her mother. Korey still remembered every curve of Naomi's face. Naomi always had such a caring look in her eyes, her hair was wavey, and she had a beautiful smile. Korey always loved seeing her mother smile. Korey had just started working on the left eye when the bell rang. Time for English. ///
Korey walked out of the history class. Andy passed her a note asking if she was okay. Naturally, Korey said everything was fine but she didn't mean it. And Andy didn't buy the lie. Korey really wasn't hungry today so she skipped lunch and walked aimlessly in the halls. Then, not much to Korey's surprise, Brandon, Tristen, and Jennifer were all in the walkway. Brandon slammed Korey to the lockers. "Hey, Faggot, happy anniversary. Today is the special day we get to beat the crap out of you." He spat. Yes, they knew Korey's mother died today. They knew she blamed herself so they call her murderer on the anniversary. "Worthless trash. You killed your own mother. You can't do anything right." Tristen joined in. Jennifer was off giggling on the side. Then came the punches. Brandon went first since he was closer. His fist went straight to Korey's cheek and that sent her to the ground with a thud. She began to taste the metallicness of blood in her mouth. Tristen and Brandon began kicking Korey hard in the ribs. She was sure she heard a few cracks. "You deserve to die Murderer!" Jennifer cackled on, throwing a few of her own kicks in the mix. Eventually there was some blood coming out of Korey's mouth, and the jerks left. Korey slowly stood up, wiped the blood off of her mouth, and just went to the nearest bathroom to wash her face. After she did that, Korey ever so casually headed for the tree she hangs out at sometimes during lunch and the free period she had with Andy. Luckily he wasn't there. Korey didn't really feel up to talking anyway. Korey was leaning against a tree listening to Helena by MCR on her mp3. She was alone because everyone else was inside of the school. Korey was just there, warm tears rolling down her freezing cheeks.

"It's my fault she's gone." Korey sobbed to no one in particular. She kept on playing the events of that horrid day over and over again in her head. Korey was watching the evaporation from her steady-ish breathing. She still had fifteen minutes till free period. With that being said, Korey knew Andy would be here soon. He'd most likely ask why her cheek so swollen and why she had a busted lip. Korey and Andy have a little bond sort of thing, and it seemed Andy knew when something was wrong. So lying to him was mostley a waisted effort. Plus he said before that she sucked at lying, so there's the answer to that. Korey closed her eyes and tried to forget her current state of pain by thinking of what Jason was doing. Probably at a bar. No surprise there. Just because Korey respects her uncle, it doesn't mean she likes that he is an alchoholic. She is just thankful he hasn't gotton out of hand and abused her. And she hopes it'll never hapen. Trying to not think of physical pain was a little difficult for Korey. ***
Andy and the guys were in the cafeteria eating lunch. Korey was apperantly not hungry. The guys were trying to tell Andy not to think too much about it, but Andy had a bad feeling. "Hey, did you hear? Korey burned Jennifer today before homeroom. Wish I was there for that!" CC said with a smile. "Yeah, I heard she made the best burn in history." Jake said. "Well, I wouldn't quite go that far. But she must've seen some Gee Way sass battles or something because that was pretty funny." Ashley said. "She must've done it out of annoyance because Korey normally isn't like that." Jinxx said. Andy still hasn't said much. Korey seemed depressed over something. She didn't talk to hardly anyone. Whatever Korey was upset about, Andy knew it must be something important. He just wished he knew what. Suddenly, one of the other kids, Conner, came running through the cafeteria over to the 'BVB' table, as CC liked to call it. "G-Guys..." The poor kid was out of breath. Jake handed him his water bottle and Conner gladly accepted. "I- I just saw the 'Three Muskateers' beating up your friend Korey. She looked pretty bad. I don't know where she is now though." He said. Andy's eyes narrowed and his hands balled into fists. The guys seemed to notice. "Andy, before we jump to anything we had better think..." CC began but Andy stormed out of the room to find Korey. "Oh forget it." CC said and BVB split up and looked through the school with what little time they had left before the next class. Andy ran as fast as his gazelle legs could carry him. He ran to Korey's locker, no sign of her there. Next he ran in the hallways and found one of the janitors cleaning something near another set of lockers. It looked like it was blood. Oh no... Andy thought. He quickly broke out his phone and called Ashley. Ash: Did you find her yet? Andy: Not yet but you need to find Miss Hill and tell her what happened and Korey might need to see the nurse. And then the two hung up and Andy was running faster and faster. Suddenly an idea popped into Andy's mind. The tree! He raced to the nearest set of doors that lead outside searching urgently for the tree they always hang out. Eventually after about five minutes of hard running, Andy finally found his and Korey's hang out. There under the tree was a familiar feminine figure with her dark brown hair infront of her face. Andy ran to her. "Korey!" he practically yelled. ***
Korey's face was hiden by a curtain of her own hair as she was looking down. Her sides and stomach ached from where she had been kicked. Her cheek head and lip throbbed. Left arm felt like it was sprained and needed a brace. Her legs were sure to have some bruises. Then, an outburst broke Korey from her thoughts. "Korey!" She heard a deep and panicked voice almost scream her name as the sound of pounding feet came after the call. She looked up and saw Andy racing over. Before Korey knew it she was being embraced by strong arms. Although Korey loved hugs, she winced a little because, well, she's sore. Neither of them said anything. Korey listened to Andy's heartbeat. It was really fast. She felt his chest rise up and down while he was in the proccess of catching his breath. Andy slowly let go of Korey and looked at her as if he was inspecting the markings on her face. "Are you okay? How bad are you hurt?" He asked as he held Korey's non-swollen cheek. Korey looked into Andy's ice blue eyes with her deep ocean blue ones. What she saw was a mixture of so many emotions. Care, worry, anger, fear, so many others that Korey couldn't count. "Yeah, I think so. But my everything is sore." Korey said snickering a bit. Andy just sighed and wrapped his arms gently around her and rested his head on her shoulder. Korey could feel his warm breath on her neck. "What's wrong? You're so out of breath." "This kid, Conner told us what happened. We all split up trying to look for you and see if you were alright." Korey bit her lip as Andy lifted his head off of her shoulder. "Come on. Miss Hill is waiting for you at the nurses office." Andy said while helping Korey off the ground. When Korey tried to walk, she was limping on her right leg. "Hang on a minute." Andy said causing Korey to stop. Then Korey was in Andy's arms bridal style. "Now let's go to the nurses office." ///
When the two arrived at the nurses office, not only was Miss Hill waiting, but also CC, Ashley, Jinxx, Jake, Hope, and Sammi. Hope was in the middle of fangirling, "Oh my gosh!!! You two are so cute together!" she exclamed. Andy and Korey both blushed a tomato shade of red. Andy let go of Korey on the table. Miss Hill got an icepack for Korey's cheek, the nurse noticed Korey's arm was a bit swollen too and grabbed a brace for her. ///
While the nurse was doing whatever nurses do, Andy was over in the corridor with crossed arms, set jaw, and narrow eyebrows. Let's just say it. Andy was pissed. It was all writen on his face. Korey was the first to notice. "Andy, I'm okay, really." Korey tried calming him down. Honestly it didn't help at all. "I have to go. There's something I need to do." Andy said through gritted teeth as he stormed out of the room with an intence fire in his eyes. Korey could only imagine what Andy was about to do.
