A Savior Will Be There

Chapter 5

Lunch was over with and Korey was hoping that Andy forgot about what happened before. She slipped away from the guys and threw her trash away and hurried for the lockers. When Korey got to the lockers, she grabbed her backpack and books she needed. When that was done, she turned around and found Andy. Korey mentally facepalmes herself and she looked at him. "Can I help you Andy?" "We needed to talk remember?" "Yeah. I remember." She mumbled. Andy lead Korey outside where no one could interrupt their conversation. They ended up sitting under a tree, leaning against the bark. Korey had to admit, this was a cool place to like hang out or something. But as of now, things were just a little bit awkward. So, she closed her eyes and felt the gentle breeze blow on her face. Andy was sitting by her and laid his head on the tree facing upward. "You know that the note fell out of your locker, Korey." Andy said. He read it didn't he? Korey mentally groaned. She didn't like where this was heading already. "Let me just take a guess. You read it. Now you know what was bothering me earlier. So, now what?" She asked, not intending to sound harsh, but Andy didn't seem to mind. "Now, I guess, I'll ask you to tell me why you have a bruise on your arm." Andy said casually. Korey was shocked. She didn't notice a bruise on her arm. Her legs and ribs yes, but forgot her arm. "No one is beating me at home if that is what you're asking." "Okay, good to know. So what is the real story. What happened after lunch yesterday?" He interrogated. Korey curled her legs against her chest and looked at the ground. "Please, Korey. I want you to be able to talk to me." He said. Korey felt her eyes start to water, but she wouldn't let tears fall in front of anyone. Especially Andy or the guys. "I want you to be able to trust me. Korey, I want to help you." She looked at Andy. Korey saw genuine care and concern in his eyes. How am I supposed to tell you? Korey asked inside. She took a breath and looked forward. "Okay..."She said. Korey couldn't find the words to start, but she spoke anyway. "Well, um... before history class, these two kids said... well they said they'd beat me up after lunch. And then history came and all that jass." She said. "Was that why you were crying? Did they beat you?" "Well, not really. And yes they did, but nothing to bad. I mean, I'm sore but no broken bones or anything." "Well, that part is settled at least. But, why were you crying yesterday?" Andy asked. Korey looked at her hands and breathed. "They... um... they were just telling me I didn't have anyone who cared, no one loved me or anything. That's why. But I didn't want anyone to know I was crying, so I tried to wipe away the tears. But, apparently I failed. You saw through my little disguise." She said, laughing a little at the end trying to lighten the mood. "And about the note..." "It basically said the same and that I should kill myself. But I can't let it get to me." She said. Tears were threatening her eyes again but she rubbed them before they could fall on her cheek. "I mean, I still have a lot to live for....right? I can't let their words hurt. I... I can be stronger than that." Korey said. "Korey, words can hurt. But you're right we shouldn't let them. But it's okay to find someone to talk to." Andy said and his hand was rubbing her upper back. "Why didn't you want to tell me, Korey?" "I.. I just don't want to have people feel like I dragged them into my problems. My issues. I hate when people feel forced to do something. I... I often try and bottle things in for that reason. I don't want people to see my pain." She said and she hugged her legs. "It isn't really good to hold everything. It's okay to show emotions. And you're not dragging anyone into anything. I'll be here for you Korey. You can come to me for anything." Andy said. He pulled Korey in a hug. Korey couldn't take anymore, tears were overflowing and she cried on Andy's shoulder. The things people told her, the bruises leftover from bullying. The feelings Korey had in this moment were too overwhelming. On top of it all, she couldn't believe Andy was willing to listen to her, comfort her, be a friend to her. "It's okay. Let it out." Andy whispered to her as he rubbed her back. He had his head on top of hers and he continued to whisper things to her. Eventually, the tears stopped coming and Korey's breathing became normal again, she relaxed in Andy's arms. "Andy?" She asked. "Hmm..." was his reply. "Why are you doing this? Why did you want to know so much? Why are you being so nice to me?" She asked him looking in his blue eyes which her own. He looked at her and wiped one of the last tears on her cheek. "Because you looked as though you needed someone. I mean to talk to and be friends with. I wanted to be a person you can rely on because you looked like you hadn't had anyone in like forever." He said. "To tell you the truth, Andy, you're right. I mean you and the guys are my first friends in two years. It's a long story." She said with a sigh. "Thanks, Andy. Thanks for being here." "I'm glad I can be here for you, Korey." He smiled. The two of them relaxed for a little before they went to the next class which was math. ///
"Andy, where's the math class?" Korey asked. She forgot that she wasn't here. "Follow me. We have the same classes remember?" Andy smiled. Korey giggled. "Yeah, you're right." They walked into the room and walked to some desks. ///(two other class periods)
School was finally over and Korey was ready to go home. The little group she was with was all outside. "I'll see you guys later." Korey said and then everyone ambushed her with hugs. "Don't get into too much trouble little lady." Ashley said with a smirk. "Yeah yeah." Korey giggled. "Hey don't forget to ask your uncle about this weekend alright." Jinxx reminded. "Ok." "We'll probably be texting you later." CC laughed and Jake agreed with him laughing as well. "Ok, I'm cool with that." She laughed. "See you later, Korey." They said with a smile as they made their way to their cars. Leaving Andy and Korey alone. "Do you need a ride?" He asked. Korey shook her head. "I like walking home. But thanks for the offer." "No problem. Remember you can call me, or any of the guys, when you need someone to talk to." Andy said and hugged her one last time. "Thanks. You have no idea how much I appreciate it." Korey replied hugging back, then they went their separate ways. Korey had her mp3 and listened to This Love by Pantera through her earphones. This song reminded her of her first crush. His name was Sean. Sean was cute and all, but he never pain much attention to Korey. When the bullying started beginning, he was the first person to throw a fist and landed on her eye. After that, she totally despised him. Eventually, Korey got to her house and walked inside. To her surprise, her uncle was sober on the couch. She loved and respected Jason even though he was drunk and not home a lot. "Hi uncle Jason." She said "Hello Korey, how was school?" "It was fine. I made a few friends and they wanted to know if I could hang out with them this weekend. I told them I would ask you first." "Well, well, missy." Jason said with a smile, "It looks like you'd better ask if you need to bring anything." Korey grinned and hugged the man. "Thank you thank you thank you!" She squealed with excitement then ran upstairs to text the guys. ' Hey guys! It's me. My uncle said I could come over. Do I need anything? =/' She typed. Replies came almost instantly. Jake: 'Awesome! This is gonna be a cool weekend!' Jinxx: 'Great! Just bring swimming attire.' Cc: 'Oh yeah!!! Pool Party!!! Great to hear you're coming, Korey!!! Ash was SOOOO worried you couldn't make it. >:D' Ashley: 'Shut up! I was not!' Andy: 'Oooh.... defensive much Ash? Gr8 that your coming Korey. :) Korey: 'Thnx guys. C ya l8er' She got off the phone and worked on her homework.
