Mystical Murder

I woke up when I felt the car come to a stop. I slowly opened my eyes and looked at the surroundings. We were in a parking lot, more specifically, a rest stop on the side of the turnpike. I rubbed my eyes as I slowly sat up and looked over to Jinxx.

"I was just about to wake you up." He smiled. "You hungry?"

"Yeah." I managed to squeek out.

"Alright. C'mon. We can stay here for half an hour tops, then get back on the road."

I nodded my head and we got out of the car. I grabbed my bag before shutting the door and and letting Jinxx lock the car. We made our way inside and ordered breakfast at the McDonald's and got coffee at Starbucks. We sat down at a table away from everyone and started eating.

"Look," Jinxx started after a few minutes of silence between us. "The reason why I made us leave so early, was because, your dad called your phone and threatened to call the cops on me if I didn't give you to him."

"W-what?" I sat in shock.

Not knowing what to do, my body went completely numb. I started shaking and I was losing all sense of my surroundings. Jinxx quickly slid into the seat next to me and pulled me into his arms. I started losing control of my breathing patterns and started crying into his chest.

"Its okay. I'm here. He's not going to get you. Not on my watch. He reassured me.

"B-but what a-about the pol-lice?" I choked out.

"They're not going to get to me. I promise."

He leaned down and kissed the top of my head and I closed my eyes. Being consumed by the temporary darkness managed to calm me down.

"Do you know if he's following us?" I asked.

"I'm not sure. And I sure as hell don't want to find out." He answered.

I nodded my head. We both managed to finish our breakfast and took a quick bathroom break before going back to the car. We got in and buckled our seat belts.

"Once we get to LA, we're buying a new car and getting new license plates."

"Do I have to change my name?" I asked him as he started the car.

"Just your last name." He looked eyed me with a smirk spread across his lips.

"Like what?"

"How would Mrs. Kailee Fersuson sound to you?"

"Wait, your fucking serious?" He just smiled. "Holy fuck! You seriously want to marry me?"

"Of course I do.
