Soaring Bird

Chantel is getting ready for bed when there is a light tap on her door.
"Come in." she says
Her parents stand in the doorway...

Axel lays in his bed, the day passing through his head. It started out great, his friends greeted him and they had an amazing first day of high school. Then those jerks attacked Chantel. It made him see red, he looks up to Chantel, she is his favorite cousin and he had to do something. Then at dinner tonight, hearing about his sister getting bullied, he saw red for the second time today. God he just wanted to scream! Just then there was a light tap on his door.
"Come in!" he shouts as he tries to calm down.
His parent's stand in the doorway.
"Can we talk?" Andy asks his son
"Um sure?" Axel says
Andy walks over to his son's bed, he remembered his parents having this same conversation with him when he was his age. His dad coming into his bedroom with his mother, them both sitting down on his bed like Juliet and him were doing right now. He took a breath just like his father did all those years ago, Juliet wearing the same face of concern his mother had.
"What happened at school today?" Andy asked him, sounding just like his father.
"Nothing..."
Andy remembered giving the same answer, not wanting his parents to worry about him. He felt Juliet squeeze his shoulder, and she stepped in.
"You can tell us. We know something happened. You came home in different clothes, your lip has a gash, and your eyes are purple."
"I am fine, you have bigger things going on than worrying about me. Jessica needs you guys and you need to focus on your careers." Axel says, sounding just like Chantel.
"We will be there for your sister, but we are here for you too son. We love you. You two are our whole world, you two mean more to us than our careers." Andy explains to his son.
"Well..."

"We know." Neveah says looking at her daughter
"Know what?" Chantel wonders
"About the bullying." Ashley chimes in
He is trying so hard to keep his calm. He almost lost the love of his life because of bullying, he would be damned if he let anyone bully his princess.
"That son of a bitch!" Chantel shouts
"Do not use that language in front of us!" Neveah shouts back
"He promised!"
"He is worried about you, and frankly so are we and your godparents. Why didn't you tell us when it first started?"
"Because it's nothing."
"It's not nothing if Axel is getting brought into it."
"He put himself in it! They would have left him alone but he just had to stand up for me..." her voice trails off
Tears form in her eyes. Her parents hug her tightly.
