Novocaine Hearts

Lexa's POV

One week later, I said my goodbyes to Nate, Saxon and Parker before I left for LA.
Parker helped me pack the suitcases into my car. I couldn't help but feel sad. I had never so far away from them.
Parker slammed the trunk shut and gazed at me. I felt hot tears form in my eyes, I flung my arms around his slender figure and cried into his shoulder.
"I'm gonna miss you so much" I mumbled against his shirt.
"You're gonna be fine. It's not like you're going to rehab. You're going to live with Jake! You love him right?" Parker questioned as pulled my face away.
"Yes, but... How can I be away from you guys. You are my family!" I whined.
"We're not far. We can always come visit. You're gonna love LA. You won't miss us at all" Parker chuckled.
I laughed through my tears. "I'll miss you a lot."
"Get going kiddo! You've got a long drive ahead of you" my said slapping my back.
I smiled and let go of him.
We both slapped the cars trunk and rounded to the drivers side.
I climbed in a rolled down the window.
"Don't you dare have people sleep in my bed. I'll know about it" I warned as I started the engine.
Parker chuckled, "No you won't" he smirked.
"Bye" I murmured.
"See you."
I continued to watch him through the mirrors and windows till he was out of sight. Knowing it was going to be the last time I saw my best friend for a while.

As I walked up to Jake's front door, I was greeted by the barking of 2 small dogs. One of them managed to sneak through a gap in the curtains to find the source of the noise.
I assumed it was Ernie and waved at him through the window.
"Ernie! Chill man!" I heard Jake say through the door before it opened. "Hey" he smiled softly.
"Hi" I smiled back. All my worry from before seemed to fade away when I saw his face.
"Welcome home" he said, moving so I could be let in.
Jake's place was small, but enough for two people. His dogs rushed to my feet barking in excitement.
"Guys! Chill!" He said again, picking up Trixy and kissing her head before placing her on the bed. "They're gonna need some time to get used to you" Jake shrugged.
"That's okay. I love dogs" I said picking up Ernie and patting him.
"I cleared out some closet space and some drawer space. The bathroom we'll have to rearrange to what's best. I know it's nothing fancy, but it does me" Jake smiled.
"It's perfect."
"Oh, you must be starving after that drive do you wanna go get something to eat?" Jake asked.
"Yeah actually, that sounds awesome" I said, my stomach growling right on cue.
"Riley knew you were coming up today so she actually invited us over for pizza... Did you wanna go?" Jake said, unsure.
"Yeah! I haven't seen Riley since you guys visited. I'm pretty sure she was pissed with me..."
"Don't worry about it. I talked to her and she's cool."
"Okay, if she's all good then, let's go."

"Whoa! Is Ashley compensating for something?" I asked as Jake pulled up to a Playboy mansion look alike house.
Jake chuckled. "I doubt it."
"And... Ashley and Riley live here... This is extravagant..." I studdered.
"Ashley had to have... Well this..." Jake gestured to the mansion.
As we exited the car I was still gawking at the size of the building, the door opened and Ashley came out.
"Hey guys" he said warmly.
"Hey" Jake said giving him that weird guy hug.
"Hello again" I said giving him a quick hug. "Riley still being a pain in the ass?" I asked referring to the last time I saw them together.
Ashley sighed. "When is she not?" He joked. "Nahh, she's fine" he said turning towards the house and leading us inside.
Ashley and Riley's house was marvellous. It was really modern, but it had the edge that musicians lived there.
Large frames covered the walls of their foyer of Riley on the cover of various magazines and Black Veil Brides memorabilia.
"Lexa!" Riley shouted as she ran to me and tackled me with a hug.
"Hey Riley" I said stunned by her action.
I noticed Ashley and Jake smile, then continue walking through the house.
"Hey, ummm, I'm sorry about last week" I said once we were alone.
"It's all good. We're human, we naturally cave to peer pressure. I just know how much Jake likes you and doesn't want you to relapse. I'm only trying to help" she shrugged.
"But what about you... You're always so stressed. I feel like I'm losing hair by just looking at you... But today, you're calm. Why?" I laughed.
Riley giggled as she shook her head. "I don't know. Things are getting a rhythm. I might actually be getting the hang of making a record. Once we got home and hashed out everything, we found our base and I managed to get some half decent lyrics out."
"Well that's awesome! When you reckon it'll come out?" I asked.
"No idea, but I want to put out a single soon and possibly a video" she smiled. "Hey, umm I'm really glad you came down to LA" she said quietly.
I chuckled. "Why?"
"Cause it's nice to see Jake happy and I need another best friend. My other one is a mom, so she's boring" she winked.
"It's okay, I'll be your new love" I giggled.
Riley smiled and gestured that we join the boys.
"Pizza is on it's way" Ashley announced as we entered the kitchen. "So, hows life been post warped tour?" He asked.
"Umm, it's been weird... We're all not sure what to do with ourselves..." I shrugged.
"Don't you guys wanna start writing the process or something?" Jake questioned.
"Nate has probably started... I think I'm waiting to be inspired" I smirked.
Jake smiled and shook his head.
"What about you guys? I'm sure you're use to it, but what do you do?" I asked curiously.
"Oh, we kinda just take a break from each other... Don't we?" Jake said, looking at Ashley.
"Essentially. Take like a good month break then we'll be back at it, or we continue the tour straight from the US to the UK or wherever else is lined up" Ashley continued.
"Yeah, they like to leave their women waiting" Riley shot.
Ashley glared at her.
"I kid! I got to go with you this time, I was happy" she smiled.
"Yeah, we're the next Andy and Juliet, except no sees me acting all cute and shit like they do onstage."
"Hmm wouldn't want to disturb you're single, Playboy image" Riley nudged him.
They both laughed when someone's phone started to ring.
"Whose is that?" I asked.
"Ooo mine!" Riley said feeling her pocket. She glanced at the screen before answering.
She walked out of earshot as she took the call.
"Are you moving here permanently?" Ashley asked.
"Ummm, not sure yet... I reckon my band will end moving down here anyways and we'll start doing stuff. We're waiting on our manager to keep us up on what we should do next. I'm not really fussed though. I can't wait to explore around here. I was so excited when I got located in California, but pissed when it wasn't in LA."
"OH MY GOD! YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHO WAS ON THE PHONE!" Riley yelled as rejoined us.
"What?!" Ashley said, worry and concern on his face.
"That was Pierce The Veil's tour manager! They want me to be one of the supporting acts for their 'Misadventures' tour!" She shrieked uncontrollably, flailing her arms.
"Riles, that's amazing!" Ashley said hugging her.
"Congrats dude!" Jake said giving her a high five.
"I just got here, now you're leaving me!" I said dramatically.
"You'll be fine" she grinned.
"When does it start?" Ashley asked.
"Leave in 3 months... I have so much work to do" she sighed.
"You'll be fine" I said, mimicking her.
