Novocaine Hearts

Jake's POV

"Okay Trixy, daddy's leaving. You be a good girl" I babbled as Trixy lay on my bed.
"Ernie! Where are ya boy?!" I called and Ernie came running from the other room and jumped on the bed. "Bye bye bubba. Be good. See you soon" I said kissing them both.
My dogs barked at me as I left my apartment and passed the windows down to the garage.
They were really the only thing I would miss.
I grabbed my last bag and shoved it into my car with the rest of my stuff and headed over to Jinxx's place.
Traffic at 5 am was surprisingly good. I managed to get there in record time.
I parked in the space he left for me and got out the car.
As I walked up the short path, a slight summer breeze touched my skin, making me shiver. I knocked lightly on the door and instantly heard a stumble.
A tired Jinxx answered the door. His eyes blinking, trying to wake up.
"Did you just roll out of bed or something?" I said as I stepped inside.
"No, I've been up since 3:30, but I must have dozed off" he shrugged. "So, are you ready?" He yawned.
"As I'll ever be, I suppose. I don't know... At least I'm not home. It's gonna weird being single..."
"Yeah, you and Ella had been together for what? 5 years?"
"Pretty much... Who's on the line up this year anyways? I haven't even looked" I said grabbing my phone.
"Umm, it's a pretty massive year. Evanescence is at the top of the bill this year. This is going to be the biggest Warped Tour."
"Wait, I thought we were headlining?"
"Kevin said we were, but Evanescence man! They stomp on every band. It'll be a different crowd this year. Might be nice" Jinxx shrugged.
As I scrolled through the list we both jumped when we heard a honk and series of knocking.
"It's open!" Jinxx called and in came Andy, Ashley and CC.
"The party bus has pulled up! WOOT, WOOT! ALL ABOARD!" Ashley announced.
We all rolled our eyes.
"What the fuck are you on?" I said shaking my head.
"Nothing, just excited. Me and Riley have been up all night packing and getting shit organised. We may have mixed some alcohol and coffee" Ashley shrugged.
"Ashley, that's not normal. Me and Juliet don't do that" Andy said sternly.
"We ain't you" Ashley shot back.
"Okay, come on, we need to get our shit on the bus. Jake unlock your car, Andy, Ashley help me, CC, help Jake" Jinxx instructed.
Like the mom Jinxx is, we obeyed. CC followed me out to my car and helped me load it into the bus.
"So how you doing?" He asked quietly.
"Been better, but meh, I'm just glad to be on the road."
"Good point. Just don't sweat it. Plenty of fish in the sea. From what I hear, this year has the most women on Warped."
I chucked. "You realise I've probably met all of them."
"You don't know that. How many females are normally on Warped?"
"I don't know... 5?"
"True. Just don't dwell on shit. It'll be fun this year."
"We'll see" I said grabbing my last few bags from the backseat and walking them over to the bus.
We all loaded everything up and made our way to the LA venue.
I watched the city go by and couldn't reminisce the last few years of my life. I was so sure Ella was the one. She was goofy, beautiful, healthy and always pushed me. She was there for me, now she wasn't and I didn't even know why.
The thought was driving me crazy. Out on a whim of the thought, I pulled out my phone and texted her.
Why did you leave me? Not having a reason is going to drive me crazy. I just need to know and then I'll leave you alone. I want you to be happy, but I need to know what I did wrong. Please give me some closure Ella. I'll always love you
I tapped send and gulped.
That probably wasn't the best idea, but it was done. Maybe I'll get an answer...
"Hey Jake, get your ass up! Let's go!" CC said shaking my shoulders.
I blinked and shook my head. "Huh, oh, we're here already?"
"Yeah! Let's go!" He ordered.
I sighed and got off the couch to help unload.
As I exited the bus I could see Riley and Juliet making their way over to our bus.
"HA! I knew we were gonna beat them!" I heard Riley say to Juliet.
"Well we left before them, so yeah!" Juliet said sarcastically.
"Jake!" Riley called.
I looked in her direction and she was coming towards me and motioning me to re-enter the bus.
"Riley, I can't right now. I need to help" I whined, knowing what she wanted to talk about.
"Look, I know you and Ella brok-"
"I don't wanna hear it" I said cutting her off. "I don't have time for this" I said trying to move passed her.
"Jake... I just wanna make sure you're okay."
"I'm fine. Thanks for your concern, but I don't wanna hear about it" I said finally getting around Riley and back with the guys.
I hope I didn't have to endure this all tour...
