Novocaine Hearts

Lexa's POV

There was something great about Las Vegas.
Whether it was the vibrancy of the city or the spirit of the people. It just sung to me.
"Okay, Lexa. Are you listening to me?" Nate said, waving a hand in front of my face.
"What? Yeah."
"Okay, so you know what we talked about right?"
"Ummm..." I had no idea.
"Look, I know that we are now on 'free time', but I'm trusting you to be responsible. Don't go over board on the alcohol and please... no drugs" he said sternly.
"What? Nate you know I'm better than that. I'll be good. Besides, Jake always keeps me in check."
"Reason as to why I like him more and more everyday" Nate huffed.
I just shook my head. Nate; always so overprotective.
I watched as Nate made his way over to the front desk counter.
The hotel we were staying in was just off the strip, but it was still beautiful. I couldn't wait to get up to the room and check out the view.
Jake soon came over and handed me a key.
"We'll go up and get ready? They wanna head out and get some dinner. Probably start drinking from there.”
“Sounds like a plan” I smirked.
We waited for everyone to be checked in and with keys before heading up to the room.
“Wow!” I said, my mouth dropping as the door swung open.
“Yeah... I think you summed it up” Jake nodded.
I strolled into the room, dropping my bag to the floor and stood in front of the window.
“Can see the whole strip from here...” I murmured.
“Ashley said the view from Riley’s old place was even better than this.”
“Better? I can’t see how” I rolled my eyes.
“It was actually on the strip.”
“Oh...”
“So, do you know where we’re going tonight?”
“Not a clue. Ashley knows his way around here pretty well” Jake said unzipping his bag and pulling all his stuff out.
“So, I’m gonna take a shower... Care to join me?” I asked, giving him a seductive smile.
Jake smiled and started to take his top off.

My black dress clung to my slender figure. The hemline came to about my mid thigh. Safe to say every other girl would be jealous of Jake, having me hanging off his arm.
I made sure my hair was razor straight and my make up was perfect.
“Well don’t you look sexy” Jake commented as he stood in the bathroom doorway.
I giggled, “Shut up.”
“You nearly ready?”
“Yeah, almost” I said pushing passed him and getting my shoes out.
“Hey, umm, you’re not bummed about Riley not being here are you?” Jake asked.
“No... Why?” I said a little unsure.
“Oh, no reason. I was just talking to Juliet earlier and she just said she was hoping Riley would change her mind.”
“I think if any of us know Riley, it’s that she won’t back down easy. Didn’t Jinxx go home too though? I figured you’d be bummed.”
“Nahh, Sammi had her baby so Jinxx was in a rush to get home. They had a boy. Named him Dimetri. So Jinxx” Jake chuckled.
“Aww that’s cute. So out of us, who’s left?”
“Well... there’s your band, I’m sure Ashley will get to know them very well tonight. We have Andy and Juliet, and you and me. I think CC went home too, his wife Kimber is back home with his daughter Tegan. He hates being away from her.”
“Aren’t you glad you don’t have to worry about that stuff yet?” I asked.
Jake shrugged. “I don’t know... I kind of thought I’d be married and have a kid by now... But shit happens, and if it didn’t, I wouldn’t have met you” Jake smiled and touched my cheek. “Now, let’s go. I’m sure their waiting for us.”
We rushed out of the hotel room and down to lobby where everyone was assembled and ready to go.
We were the out the door and making our way to the main strip.
Walking though the heart of Las Vegas was overwhelming. You didn’t know where to look.
Jake lead me into a bar half way down the strip.
We all sat in a giant booth, I was squeezed between Juliet and Jake.
The place had a dark atmosphere, almost gloomy. On the walls hung gothic style portraits and heavy metal rock memorabilia. Everyone sat in huddled groups, drinking and eating. It almost seemed like the other patrons were in their own little world.
“We’ll just order a whole bunch of food and share?” Ashley said, sitting at the top end of the table. Nate and Andy on his flanks.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Oh, and also a round of tequila shots please” Ashley continued, flashing the waitress a grin.
I saw Nate eye me, but I ignored it. I wanted to enjoy tonight.

“Hey! Did you end getting to even read the article Alternative press released?”Juliet asked with a slight slur.
“NO! I completely forgot about it!” I said, feeling mortified.
“They said your band is one of the biggest up and coming bands! They are going mental for Novocaine Hearts! And they said that you shape the future for other female musicians!” Juliet almost yelled passionately.
“No! You’re lying!” I said lightly slapping her arm.
“Another round guys?” Ashley shouted.
A round of cheers came from us all.
“So, what are you gonna do now that the tours over?” She asked.
“Not really. I’ll talk to the others. I wanna try and convince them to move to LA. We’re too far out in San Fran.”
“That’s right! I completely forgot you don’t live in LA! Hey! You can totally stay with me and Andy! It would be great! Please?!” She begged.
“I’d have to check...” I said unsure.
“You don’t need to check. It’s not like you’re 13 and your parents have grounded you” she shrugged as our drinks were placed in front of us.
“No, I mean with my band. I can’t live away from them.”
“What? Not even for a little bit?” She challenged.
“Well I can...”
“So do it! It’ll be so much fun!”
I’d beg to differ...
Juliet had definitely had too much drink, but then so had I.
There was still a second tequila shot sitting in front of me.
I quickly shot it and turned to Jake.
“Hey, you wanna go do something cool?” I asked.
“Cool like what?”
“I kinda feel like getting a tattoo” I smirked.
“Hmm, I’m down.”
