Heart of Fire

*A few days later*

After the show I tried to stay away from all of Black Veil Brides the best I could. It wasn't hard avoiding Andy because whenever he saw me he just turned red and looked away. Which was fine with me because I wasn't ready to deal with him yet. Nicki told me that she was sleeping with CC, but they weren't exactly dating, which didn't really surprise me.

I was sitting with a group of people but not paying any attention to what they were saying. My eyes started to wander around the room. I saw Ashley take a step toward me as if he was unsure. He must have decided he didn't care and started walking quickly my way. When he reached me he almost looked a little nervous, but I thought I imagined it.

"Hey Skylar." He said his voice rough.

I hadn't seen him in what seemed like forever. His eyes were dark yet bright at the same time. A pleasure that could only be seen not described. His hair was long and straight and a deep, chocolate brown colour. I wondered how it would feel to run my hands through it. I started noticing more and more attractive features he had, but had to pull myself into reality in order to respond.

"Hi Ashley." I answered putting on a smile.

"Um we're okay right? You and me? It just seems like your avoiding me or something." His eyes seemed to look right through mine.

"Yeah of course we are."

"Great. I, um, was thinking-well wondering really, if we could maybe go somewhere sometime?" He seemed to be stumbling on his words. For some weird reason I found this insanely cute.

"Are you asking me out on a date Ashley Purdy?" I tried to pretend to be serious, but I never was a good actor.
He smiled big grin, "Yeah, I guess I am."

"Well you could have just said so. That would be great." Again I was smiling, why does this keep happening?

I could almost see a weight being lifted from him, "Good, how about I meet you at your bus tomorrow at 8? I have something in mind.

I nodded my head, "I'll be looking forward to it."

Nicki was getting ready to go see CC the next day. I wasn't sure if I should tell her about my date, but I just couldn't hold it in anymore. "Hey, Nicki?"

"Hmm?"

"I have a substantial event that is about to happen in my life." I said trying to draw it out a bit.

"And what's that?" She seemed annoyed.

I'm going on a date with Ashley." I grinned.

"Ashley-like Ashley Purdy? What did you have to do, threaten him?" She sneered.

Honestly I wasn't sure why we were even friends anymore, "No actually he asked me out."

"Suprising, anyway I gotta run." She said rushing out.

I was alone, everyone else was out. My mind started to wander. Was Ashley really that much better than me? And what happened to Nicki not liking Ashley, now he was too good for me?

I stood up and walked to the bathroom mirror. God I was a mess. My hair was orange and poofy, completely unlike his his smooth brown hair. My face had many light but very noticeable freckles. My body was straight and skinny. I seemed like his exact opposite, I had seen him with tall, curvy, blondes. They all wore expensive clothes and heels.

I couldn't look anymore. I hated feeling sorry for myself, but today I just couldn't help it. I decided to do something I hadn't done in almost a year. Run.

Running helped me get over my depression, it cleared my mind and helped me temporarily forget my problems. Afterwards I would feel so proud that I finished. Only this time it didn't clear my mind. I got angry at myself that my remedy wasn't working so I ran faster and was almost sprinting.

Before I knew it I was back and ran right into the bus and collapsed on my bed.
