Heart of Fire

After I got all my equipment packed up I went back out to watch BVB. My eyes widened in awe, they all moved together, fluidly. It was clear they were all best friends. The crowd was going absolutely wild. My eyes, once again were drawn to Ashley. He was playing the bass as if it meant so much to him, he was definitely in his element. All of his movements were smooth and coordinated, his singing was just as perfect as his playing.
I smiled and studied his perfect movements, Nicki, our drummer came up from behind me, patting me on my back. I jumped ripping me from my daze. She must have followed my gaze because she said, "Be careful."
I just looked at her blankly, "What are you talking about?" I asked, completely clueless.
"Him," she said nodding her head towards Ashley, "I can tell it in his posture. He's never been in a serious relationship in his life."
Her words sounded harsh, but I was used to them. After promising her I wouldn't do anything stupid she left to the bus. I went back to staring at Purdy. They finished up their last song and started to leave the stage, the audience was the loudest ever. I had expected for Ashley to at least introduce himself since we had never met but instead he just pushed past me mumbling, "See something you like?"
That shocked me, I wasn't sure how to respond so I didn't. Another man walked up to me, he was tall and had black messy hair and bright, clear blue eyes. "I'm sorry about him," he said in a deep smooth voice, "He's...defensive. Well, I'm Andy but the way, and you probably know that's Ashley. I'm guessing your from the new band? Infernal Fire?"
"Uh yeah I am. I'm lead vocals. And it's alright about him, I shouldn't have been looking." Oh my God why did I just say that?!
"Haha well welcome rookie." He smiled and went to join the rest of the band members.
He was cute, I thought, I have to start being more professional, I can't have people think that I actually am boy crazy.
I blushed, cursing myself for my fair skin and went to join everyone in the bus. They were all there either smoking or having a drink. As I sat down Nicki offered me a cigarette and I accepted gratefully. Everyone seemed so happy all talking and joking loudly. It seemed just like old times.

*Flashback*

The door bell rung, "I got it!" I yelled to Jackson who was upstairs.
I ran up to the door swinging it open, two police officers stood in front of my door. "Uh, hello officers?" I asked nervously.
"Yes are you miss Valentine?" The one to the right asked.
"Yeah is something wrong?" I asked even more anxious.
He hung his head then looked back up at me, sadness in his eyes, "Well, both of your parents were in a fatal plane crash th-they didn't make it. I'm very sorry."
I didn't feel anything I refused to because it wasn't-couldn't be true. It was a bad dream-yes that is exactly what it was. My parents would arrive home that evening from their business trip as they were supposed to. Only they didn't. It was everywhere. The news, the papers, people were gossiping. In the small town we lived in our family was very well known, so this news spread very quickly.
I was so thankful for my brother I wouldn't have made it without him. Even with him I barely made it.

*End of Flashback*
I grinned at Jackson now, thinking off all he has done for me, he was strong when I wasn't. I loved him. A hand waved in front of my face. It was Nicki, she was trying to get my attention, "Hello? Hello? Oh my God Skylar snap out of it."
I grabbed her hand making her start, "What is it Nicki?" I asked smiling still.
"Someone's here to see you." She said rolling her eyes.
"Who?" I asked.
Then he walked throughout the door.
