Naturally I ran away from Jinxx and scanned the game booths for ways to knock down the wall. With a handful of darts and ducks, I hurled things at the wall pointlessly until I found the mallet of a strength tester game in the distance. I pounded the heavy mallet against the wooden wall relentlessly until I broke through to the other side, seeing only darkness beyond the hole in the wood.

I went back to Jinxx intending to yell at him. “Come on.” I grabbed his arm. “We’re escaping.”

“We shall not.” He shrugged, refusing to move.

“You’re joining my adventure.” I said through gritted teeth.

“That’s not my circus.” He shook his head and began laughing.

“You can’t stand here forever.” I challenged, crossing my arms and standing in front of him.

He wasn’t moving and he knew I wouldn’t be able to stay still for very long. I moved next to him and flicked the circuit breaker to make the lights go off and on again, creating a lightswitch rave. I threw my head back and yelled at the trees high above us. My hands began to rap against my thighs, keeping rhythm with a song in my head as I attempted to outlast him at his waiting game.

“Dammit.” I sighed and walked away.

I stepped through the hole in the wall hesitantly, not knowing what awaited me on the other side.
