Round 4 (Forest)
Pressing the blue button underneath the tree caused Ashley to disappear and one wall of the room to vanish into a veil of mist. After another long corridor of unpainted concrete I started to feel like I was navigating the backstage tunnels of an arena in some city I’d never been to before.
After passing through a long crescent shaped hallway twice I started to wonder where this passageway was taking me. “Jinxx?” I hollered at the concrete ceiling.
“Give up?” He goaded.
“What can you see from the room you’re trapped in?” I’d observed the walls along the way and not only did I not know where I was, I seemed to be going in an elaborate circle.
“I can see you and the place you’re headed to.” He answered.
“Where am I headed?” I paused in place, noticing how narrow the walls seemed. Narrow enough to place a hand and a leg on each of the two walls and crawl awkwardly to the ceiling.
“You’re about to find out.” He said.
There was a single ceiling panel above where I stood that was slightly off color. I launched my leg at it when I’d climbed as far as I could go, and tumbled to the ground as a cascade of dirt poured in from the displaced panel. For some reason I ran away from the dirt, thinking it was a live waterfall dirt ghost.
Jinxx laughed.
“Am I in a grave?” I stared at the downpour of dirt seeping in from above.
“If you climb back up you’ll be the floor of a forest.” He sounded distracted.
“Can you see what comes after the forest?” I hoped.
“Yeah but the forest is pretty big. I don’t know if there’s a way out.” His voice cut out.
I scaled the wall again and peeked through the hole in the ceiling, grabbing on to the forest floor.
“It’s safe to go in, but I can’t tell you where to go after that.” Jinxx offered.
Pulling myself up through the ceiling, I left the panel open in hopes of finding my way back by the bright light it projected upward. I was now standing in a dimly lit forest, staring at a pixelated moon. “What is this, Minecraft?” I asked as I walked aimlessly.
“Looks like it.” Jinxx replied.
“Can I punch my way through trees?” I wandered over to a patch of trees and was soon surrounded by them. “Do you see any notes pinned to a tree?” I asked wearily, still aimlessly wandering.
“No.” He laughed. “I only see trees and the moon.”
“Hey we’re finally seeing eye to eye.” I pointed out.
“Not funny.” He laughed.
After hours of wandering and repeatedly checking my phone (the time hadn’t changed at all and I had no signal, my texts weren’t sending, the browser wasn’t working) I began to lose hope.
“Hey!” Jinxx yelled suddenly, causing my heart to jolt.
“Ah!” I screamed, grabbing my chest. “You scared me.” I looked around.
“I think I can see Jake. Go over to the fallen tree.” He said with excitement.
I stood at the tree and ducked down as though Jake were a magical sprite hiding beneath it. “Jake?”
“I’m up here.” Jake said from a tree I must’ve passed about five times already. Again, my heart jolted.
“Why didn’t you say anything?” I asked, hands on my hips in frustration.
“I saw a wolf.” Jake answered casually.
I ask myself, why does always something happens to them in the first part and why does CC always wake ups o often in a room on the first Floor?
