"Ashley! Where is the blue thingy?" I heard Kenali call from the bunks, and I chuckled; she never remembered where she put anything.
"It's in your red bag," I called to her.
"Where's the red bag?"
"Under your bunk."
I knew she frowned as she started searching for it.
"How do you even know what she was talking about?" CC asked, looking amazed. "She wasn't exactly specific."
"She forgets where she puts things all the time," I rolled my eyes. "I know more where her stuff is then she does."
"Well aren't you a good boyfriend," Andy chuckled from his seat; he'd been chipper the past couple days, finally over his moping stage I suppose, though I wasn't quite sure why.
I figured Kenali had done something to him, as aggravated as she'd been with him; used her power to cheer him up.
"It's not like she can take care of herself," I rubbed a hand over my face. "She can manage to get into more trouble in five minutes then any person I've ever seen."
"Really?" CC looked amused. "She's the one who gets into trouble? Like you don't help?"
I grinned.
"Ashley! It's missing the cord!"
I sighed. "It's in the outlet, Kenna."
I don't see how she made it before me.
"You two might as well get married and get it over with," Jinxx sighed as he sat beside Andy.
"Yeah, no thanks."
"Why not?" Andy asked, frowning. "She's like perfect."
He would say that.
"Yeah, but, come on. Do I look like the marriage type?" I snorted; I would outlive any mortal. It was very rare you actually saw an angel pledge him or herself to any mortal for any major length of time, and marriage was unheard of and futile.
"No. But you're also not the boyfriend type and Kenna seems content with you," Jinxx pointed out. "So you must be doing something right."
"Until you fuck up of course and she leaves you again." CC added, and we all glared at him.
"What?" he frowned. "That's what happened!"
"I'm confused. Do you guys want me to marry her or something?" I rolled my eyes at them. "I'd be stuck with her forever then."
"Ashley! Where's ---."
"My black duffel inside pocket."
"Well, you seem to already know everything she wants," Jinxx laughed. "It shouldn't be hard to keep her happy."
"Nah, she wouldn't marry me," I shook my head, knowing that for sure; if we did such an idiotic thing like that we would be forced to one another for eternity until oblivion did us part.
"Have you asked?"
"Of course not! We've only been together a couple months---."
"But you've been friends for eternity, so why not?"
I frowned at CC. "Why don't you just marry her then?"
He looked startled. "What?"
"You marry her." I shrugged. "See if you can keep her happy. Since you guys want someone to marry her so bad."
The guys sighed.
"Kenna!" CC suddenly called.
"Yes?"
"Would you marry me if I asked?"
I heard her laugh. "No."
"Why not?"
"Because!" she poked her head around the curtain that separated the bunks from the front. "I'm not madly in love with you, as sweet as you are sometimes."
"You think I'm sweet?" CC beamed.
"What about Ashley?" Andy asked. "Are you madly in love with him enough to get married?"
Fuck you too, Andiel, I thought in annoyance.
Kenali just smiled.
"I love him as much as I can," she said after a moment, her words chosen carefully. She never said she was in love with me, just that she loved me in a more general way.
I frowned.
But what if I --- no! I knew she was in love with Andiel, and there was no changing that. I'd known that from the beginning.
"And what about the rest of us?" CC asked, looking pouty.
Kenali looked amused.
"Of course I care about the rest of you. You're like ... Siblings I never had."
"And never wanted," I added, and we grinned ag each other.
The bus finally pulled to a stop, and Kenali sighed, sitting
down in my lap and pressing a kiss to my neck.
I didn't miss Andys disgruntled look as he saw the gesture.
I let my hand rest on her thighs, her shorts leaving a lot of skin to be seen; as pale as she was, you'd think it wouldn't look as good, but she was beautiful no matter what she wore or whatever her appearance.
And all the guys, even the taken ones, had all wished she was theirs for at least one night.
Not that I'd rummaged in their brains or anything.
I felt the bus start again, and leaned my head back against the sofa, unusually tired.
Kenali was still going strong from our fling earlier, but being with one partner was starting to wear on me, and it wouldn't be long until it did the same to her.
Our sins weren't meant for us to be monogamous.
And I didn't want to hurt her by sleeping with someone else, but we were going to have to have a talk about it soon if we both intended on staying healthy.
Hell, if it wasn't for the fact she would wear down too, I wouldn't even tell her, I would just go and do it.
But she needed to know.
I ran a disgruntled hand through my hair, worried.
She never took things calmly, and it always lead to a massive fight where she sulked for a couple days until she got lusty and needed me again; it happened every time.
I sighed, and she glanced up at me, threading her fingers through mine.
I gave her a smile, not wanting her to worry about it just yet.
I pressed my lips to her forehead, then gave her a pat to let me up. She scooted off and I got to my feet, heading toward the back of the bus.
I needed to make some calls to make sure I had something to eat when we made it to the city tonight; maybe the guys could actually watch Kenali without everything going to hell.
Then again, trouble seemed to follow that angel everywhere she went.
