im laying on my couch, in my batman pjs, with crow on my bare chest, njoying a bag of chips, when theres a knocking on my door. i remove crow from my chest, and answer the door. im shocked when i see CC, with Miranda, who holds a child
''hey...'' cofusion laces my voice
''hey Andy, we need to talk'' cc says, i step aside and let the trio into my lonely house.
''whats up?'' i ask, after we are all seated
''Andy....'' says Miranda ''can i talk to you alone, please?'' i nod, and follow her to the kitchen
''what is going on Miranda? whose child is that?'' i blurt out
Miranda takes a deep breath, fighting tears ''ours''.
''what?''
''that is your two year old son, Cory christain Coma. his birthday is in a month actually...'' a month. miranda has been gone for almost three years.
''how is that possible?'' i ask her
''our one nighter... we didnt use protection... Andy, there is no doudt that that child, is your son. the hair is yours, the eyes are yours, the check bones, even the personility. you cannot look me in the eyes, and tell me that he isnt yours'' i look over her head, which isnt har since she is still short, at the little boy playing with CC.
''why now? why are you coming to tell me this now? 2 years later?''
''i didnt want to ruin your life, you had a choice, you had a dream, that boy beccame mine, the first time i saw him on the altrasound. i didnt want to ruin your perfect rockstar life, you had it all''
''but my son, and his mother in my life'' i was angry she did this. had my child without me, never told me, she let me miss his birth.
''im sorry, but i didnt know what to do Andy! i was terrifed of what you would do!''
''you thought i would turn my back on you?! Miranda, those things that happened between us... they werent nothing!'' i yelled, and watched her flinc ''you meant somethin to me...''
''it never wouldve worked out!'' she yelled back
''whats changed miranda? why now?''
''Andy... i have cancere... and i need someone to take of my baby boy, of our baby boy. i asked CC to help, but... i couldnt think of anyone better than his father...'' all the anger washed out of me then... she was sick? how could that be possible? shes so young... ''please andy...i know you hate me now, but dont let that ruin your relationship with your son'' i took her in my arms, and held her tight. she was stiff at first, but then relaxed into me, and hugged back
''i could never hate you Dia...'' i whispered ''can i meet my son?'' i was so neverous
'' i would love for you to. been a bit of a dream for me...'' i smiled. she took my hand in hers, and lead me to the room when Cory and Cc were playing with femme ''cory?'' he stopped, and turned to look at his mother ''i want you meet your dad...'' he looked at me, with eyes that matched my own, and smiled a smile that came to his ears. he had his mothers smile...
''hi cory...'' he came running at me, and into my arms, holdig me tight dispite the broken arm
''hi daddy!'' he smiled
''now, what have you done to your arm little man?'' i asked him
''he hurt it playing tag with his friends'' miranda told me, due to the fact that cory was a young man, of little words ''and he was very brave about it all''
''you were?' he nodded ''i was just about to eat something, do you all want to join me?''
''please mommy?!''
''please mommy?'' i copied
''momma bird....?'' asked cc, grinning a bit
''of course'' Dia laughed. i ran upstairs to change of my pjs, and into a pair of black skinnies, and a cut up batman shirt, with my jean vest over top. when i came down, i smiled seeing cory wearing my batman mask
''does he share my love of batman..?'' i asked cc, coming up beside him
'' i believe he does'' he smiled
''how are you doing with the whole child thing..?
''oh, imma kill you, as soon as they leave, your dead...''
''thought so.. and the cancer..?''
''its shocking alright...but shes tuff, she'll beat it, i know she will''
