the things left behind

today was the day. i woke up at around 10, got cory feed, and waited for cc to arrive, which he did as planned
''you ready?'' cc asked, his usual happy eyes, sad and heavy now. his eyes were puffy, eyes blood shot from crying
''its now or neverr, right?'' i asked, picking up cory
''guess so...'' he grabbed my bags with pjs, wigs, and books. together, we walked out of the apartment, and down to my car, we took off after we had all buckled in. i took ccs hand in mine, and squeezed it tight. the drive felt too short, because soon, i was in the parking garage, the sound of my converse scuffing agaisnt the concret.
i was so scared for this, what if everyone was wrong, and im not strong enough to beat it?
the hospital room wasnt anything special. there was a bed white sterile white sheets, a bathroom, and a window seat that overlooked the water. different mmedical equpiment hung around the room, standing guard bby my bed was the iv, my shadow for the next while...
''mommy look!'' cheered ory, he had hopped onto the bed, and found the remote that makes the bed move
''woooow'' i said ''thats pretty cool''
''i want one'' commented cc
''you can take my place if you want to...'' i joked, but my voice was flat
''you know i would if i could, god i wish i could...''
''me too...''
''would have called me if you werent sick...?''
''i hope so... i missed you so much, and ive called you so many times, but each time...i couldnt bring myself to say a thing...''
''daddy!!!'' cory yelled, jumping off the bed into andys arms. quickl, i dried my tears, and advoided ccs gaze
''hey andy..'' i said hugging him
''hey.. ''
''cory you excited to be living with your daddy?''
''ya!''
''cory, why dont you and cc go get your mom something to eat'' i was going to protest that i had already eaten, but i saw a look in his eye.
after cc and cory had left, andy shut the door
''i need tell you something...''
''what is it?''
''i want that apartment to be our home. i want to wake up beside in that bed, i want to sit across from you every night at our dinner table"
"andy..."
"miranda, i want more than just to be the father of your child. you have always meant more to me than just a friend, i need more miranda''

''miranda, i love you'' he closed the space between us, pulled me close, and kissed me. it lasted awhile, and i kissed back, but i ruffly pulled away, annd ran to the bathroom to puke
''guess thats a no...'' mumbled andy, as he followed me to pull back my hair. i fell to the floor, leaning agasint him as i shook from the cold suddenly seeping into my bones. he scouped me up off the floor, and took my to the bed. laying me down, then wrapping the blankets around me. he walked away to shut off the lights. ''get some rest...''
''andy..''
''shhhhh, sleep''
''andy i..''
''go to sleep miranda''
''would let me talk?!'' i said. he shut up then ''i love you too. i want more''
''really?'' i nodded. i shifted over, making room for him to crawl in beside me, and that was what he had done, holding me close. my eyes grew heavy, and i drifted off to sleep.
